Lost and found

" Ugh this day started out great. Watching hoofball with Discord and Big Mac and now I have to run and errand in the freezing cold mountains!"

Spike grumbled to himself as he walked thriught the muddy ground of the everfree forest. He had a lot planned to day watch hoofball , add to his gem collection and finally ask Rarity out on a date. Today he would not get that opportunity. All he would get is a dirty body , frostbite and a tiny pat on the head when he returned. He continued he trek through the forest. At one point he tried to stop and rest in a cave but soon discovered it was home to a manticore. Luckily he managed to escape the creature because like all cats it lacked endurance. After the terrifying ordeal. he was able to catch his breath and concentrate on his destination. He squinted until he could see the moutain range somewhat clearly and rushed toward it.

Now that he wasn't dirty and smelly he was cold and shivering as he moved slowly thriugh the snow.

" I really can't catch a break today can I ? Twilight owes me for this."

Spike walked up to the highest peaks. Finally he reached the cave systems after moving so,e large rocks.

" Great where the buck am I now?!"

He stumbled through the darkness of the caves. He was sure he was lost. There was no light or indication of a exit anywhere to be found. He managed to light his way with his fire but still couldn't see much farther then in front of his face. Not only that but he wasn't having any luck finding the he gems needed to bring to Twilight. The only things he found were ice and bats both hanging from the the top of the cave. He began to get hungry eating rocks and gems he found along the way to sustain himself and sipping cold water from ice. He came across a particularly shiny , delicious looking gem and wasn't lokimg where he was going. Causing him to hit his head hard on rock fragment hanging from the ceiling of the cave and passed out.

When Spike finally came to he fealt the warmth of blanket and smelt a fire near him. He lokked up and saw a rather good looking pink unicorn sitting by the fire.

" Ugh ... My head what the heck happened?"

He asked still tired and weak. From his knock out. The unicirn beside him simply smiled slightly.
"It looks like you hit your head on a hanging rock so I made this Fire and made us some lunch since you look really hungry."

Spike nodded and started eating . His head hurt but his hunger hurt more so he focused on that. Then he noticed something. Some of the gems in his dish were crystal shaped , slender and a pink / red color. These gems were the the kind that Twilight sent him out looking for. At this point however he didn't really care. He was extremly hungry and tired. Besides the unicirn who was helping him get back on his feet probably knew where to find more of there and hopefully a way out of these stupid caves.

Finally they stopped eating. Spike remembered he hadn't properly thanked the unicorn for helping him. He knew Rarity's number one rule was to always to be a gentlecolt around mares.. Especially pretty ones like this.

'" Hey um thanks for helpiing me back there. I really appreciate it. Would you mind if I asked you your name?'

The unicorn smiled again but this time it was bigger and more genuine.

" I'm Starlight Glimmer who are you little dragon?"

Spike didn't appreciate being called little but he got the point of the question.

" I'm Spike it's nice to meet you Starlight."

The two shook claw and hoof. Starting a casual conversation about getting to knkw some basic information about each other abd then worked their way up to his they got lost in the caves.

" Yeah I just cane up here to do some errands for a friend and I ened up getting lost in these stupid tunnels."

Starlight nodded with understanding. As she began to speak.

" Thars a shame. You're friend should've thought about yiur safety and come with you. I was living in a town not far from here. I had many many friends or at least I thought I did. A group of about 6 strange mares showed up and the ponies of my town that trusted me so much suddenly turned against me. I wanted what was best for them and they were so unappreciative! They took my hard work for granted!"

Spike completely understood where ste was coming from with the whole unappreciative friends thing. He often felt like that around his friends. He couldn't help but feel empathy for her. From the sound of it she had given the ponies of that town great lives and was friendly with them. Then they just threw it abd her away like garbage for some ponies they never met before that day. He noticed a tear rolled down Starlight's cheek he didn't want to see his new friend cry so he hugged her and let her cry into his shoulder.

" Well I may be lost but at least I have a friend who knows how it feels to be unappreciated."

They decided to help each other find a way out of the cave systems. Starlight used her horn to light the path with magic. As they walked they talked more about their lives.

" So you were leader of this town and all of you were supposed to be equal?"

Spike was trying to understand the conceot of town Starlight had been in charge.

" Yes we were all equal sized houses , no cutie marks , no showing off abd the same everyday lifestyle.
The ponies in town didn't think my rules were " fair" or " right so they chased me into these caves."

Spike thought about it equality soured boring abd mundane but stbtyevsare time peaceful. He wouid have to give it more thought when they had time to stop and rest.

" So who are these friends you mentioned before?"

Starlight asked tired was curiosity in her voice Probably wondering who wouid send a young dragon to do their work up in a cold moutain. He fidgeted slightky sometimes he felt uneasy discussing who his adopted sister was because he didn't want to brag about being royalty.

" Well.. I'm not exactly sure how to Pir with but I'm sort of tye additive brother of the princess of friendship Twilight Sparkle."

He rubbed the back of his neck nervously . Ponies generally had mixed reactions when he told them about Twioight being a princess. Starlight Glimmer seemed to pause fir a second and didn't say anything for almost a minute.

"Wait so let me get this straight you're adoptively related to Twilight Sparkle?"

Spike couldn't help but get more uneasy when she asked this. Her voice had no clear emotion in it.

" Um yeah is there a problem Starlight?"'

He asked nervously. She sighed abd narrowed her etes has they closed. As if remembering a bad memory.

" You could say that we had our had out diffrences and it even got very physical to put it lightly."

she said trying to hold back a growl.

Suddenly it dawned on Spike that something may have happened last time he and Big Mac were busy watching hoofball.

" You mean Twlight and her friends were the 6 ponies who-"

He didn't hey to finish because Starlight cut him off with her hoof in his mouth.

" Yes Spike Twilight was the mares who forced me to come here."

" Well buck .."

He thought to himsef. I've befriended abd developed a small crush on somepony who my sister is apparently enimies with ...

" great."... Just my luck. I'm friends with a enemy of Equstria."
