A tiny flame flickered out, leaving the scorched pile of branches redundant. A strong gale blew outside, the snow came hammering down outside the cave entrance. Starlight sat huddled by what used to be fire, bitterly looking out into the snowstorm. It didn't need to said she couldn't go out to find new branches.
"I'll get them....I'll get those ponies to welcome back with open arms....I'll get them to be equal, I-I swear by it..." The cold pony muttered under her breath, her voice wobbly.
"I know I have the right spell for it.....somewhere..."
Starlight picked up the thick book beside her and frantically read through the pages, until she finally stopped on the spell she was looking for.
"P-Perfect, this'll do perfectly, once I get out of this damn cold..."
The journey home (if you could call that sad little place her home) was long and treacherous. Starlight spent many nights without shelter, with only her fur to protect from the harsh winter weather. Her hooves seemed to hurt more and more with each step, but she was so close, and it would all be worth it in the end.
"After I get those happy-go-lucky townsponies to co-operate again, I'll get that damn princess. How dare she just come into my town with her stupid ideals of individuality, I'll teach her a lesson!" Starlight said to herself, angrily kicking a nearby stone, then immediately cursing herself as a sharp pain ran through her hoof.
"Nothing can stop me, not this, not that stupid princess, and not her stupid friends..."
An evil grin spread itself across Starlight's lips as she continued limping forward, getting closer and closer to her destination.
Starlight Glimmer trudged through the cold, pristine snow. Her mane hung limply around her shoulders, her coat was streaked with dirt, but her sinister grin remained on her face. An aching pain began in her hooves and shot up her legs, she grimaced. It been almost two days of travelling back to where she began. A new start was not planned, but Starlight was not averse to the idea.
A look of disgust spread across Starlight's face as she looked once again upon her perfect town. The buildings had already been painted in all sorts of patterns and colours, each one seemed to have been personalised, no two the same.
"What a disgrace" muttered Starlight. A smirk slowly grew across her face as she began advancing towards the peaceful ponies. "I'm sure I can fix that."
"Good morning, Sugar Belle!" Called Double Diamond to his friend.
"Hey, Double!" Replied Sugar Belle cheerily. The sweet smell of baked goods wafted from her house.
A loud shout was heard, a little distance away, though not discernible what was said. It sounded very, very angry. Sugar Belle and Double Diamond shared a worried look, before racing off towards the crowd of ponies, who were gathered around something.
Upon further inspection, it was clear that it was not something, but a someone. Specifically, someone not welcome in this town.
"You've gotta lot of nerve showing your face around here again!" Yelled a member of the crowd.
"Please, I'm just trying to help! I admit I was wrong before, please listen to me!" Proclaimed Starlight, crocodile tears springing in her eyes.
"Like we'd believe that!" Called Night Glider, from the back of the crowd. The ponies separated to let her through, and she furiously rushed towards Starlight.
"You lied to us! You filled our heads with some false sense of equality! We'll never forgive you after what you did!" She yelled, leaning over Starlight in a menacing manner.
"Yes, I admit I was foolish, but you must understand, my intentions were pure! Please, listen to my new plan equality, this one will allow to keep your individuality, I promise!" Replied Starlight, her voice slowly becoming more smug as she spoke.
A small, but confidant voice spoke from behind the crowd. "I agree with Starlight!"
The ponies turned around in shock, who could possibly believe a villain like her?
"Party Favor?! What do you think you're doing?!" Yelled a clearing upset Night Glider.
"I ran into Starlight Glimmer about an hour ago, immediately at first I was angry, but now I see that I was being unreasonable, just as you all are right now." He said, in a strangely monotone, emotionless voice.
"P-Party Favor..... What's wrong with your eyes?" Asked Sugar Belle in a nervous tone.
"What on earth are you talking about Sugar Belle, my eyes are no different to how they have always been." The blue pony stated.
Party Favor's eyes were cloudy, the pupil was missing entirely and the iris
had turned a misty grey.
"N-No they're not, they've never looked like this before, Party Favor, did Starlight do something to you?!" Questioned Sugar Belle, in almost a whisper.
"She did nothing but teach me the truth, I'm sure you'll learn the truth too, Sugar Belle..." Said Party Favor, his voice starting to lose it's monotonous tone and become more angry.
He advanced towards Sugar Belle in a staggering gate, his gaze unfaltering. Party Favor was staring straight into her eyes, and Sugar Belle was staring to to lose herself.
A sky grin was on Starlight's lips as she used Party Favor's distraction to escape the crowd and jump atop a nearby table. Sugar Belle turned towards her, a content smile on her face as she looked towards her purple leader, her eyes as blank as Party Favor's.
"My friends, surely you remember the happy times of equality we shared before, don't you want to relive those times?" Challenged Starlight.
Outraged cries ran throughout the crowd. However, slowly but surely, a low chant responded. "Of course, those were the happiest times."
Sugar Belle and Party Favor were approaching the other ponies, staring deep into their eyes, and the chant slowly grew louder as Starlight's influence grew stronger.
"Do you want to relive those times?" Demanded Starlight at the top of her lungs.
A single answer was returned to her, everyone speaking at once.
"Of course, those were the happiest times."
