Twilight has learned a new spell, and she plans to test it. The concept of the spell; alternate universes.
She must take one of her friends, she can't go alone after all.
Even though she's never told anypony, she trusts AppleJack more than any of her friends.
So when she does the spell it just happens to take them to possibly the worst alternate universe possible, where alternate Aj is probably the most miserable.
AppleJack wants to change that…which doesn't go so well..

Chapter 1

Twilight analyzed every word of the letter in which Princess Celestia had sent- her optimistic mind wondered at the thought of her task. She was all in for exploring but she never would have thought to be traveling through dimensions. She read over the leter

"My dearest Twilight,

it has come to my attention that you have reached a high level of your studies and you are now ready for your next task. No this isn't a mission to save Equestria or anything, no worries. Yet, you must understand how important it is for you to complete this task. You are very important to me Twilight Sparkle and I'd hate for you to get hurt. That's more likely to happen if you go alone.

Alas, if I cannot go with you. I have royal duties to attend to, yet I will not let you go alone. Take somepony you trust. A fellow friend, preferably one of your 5 other friends. I know how great you are of a chooser so I hope you will make the right decision as always. Your task is to travel to another dimension and study the ponies there, find out about their culture and write down how it is divergent from our society.

~Princess Celestia"

Twilight closed the letter, taking a deep breath.

"It's all going to be okay." Her eye peeked back at Spike, whom seemed worried.

"Twilight, I don't wanna lose you! Let me go!"

Spike was very loyal to Twilight, she needed someone loyal. Then again, he is only a baby dragon. This is too much for him.

"No." Twilight said firmly.

"But-but-but-"

"No buts about it!!"

Tears formed in his eyes. "Then how do I know when or IF you're coming back?!?"

Her eyes met his green eyes, almost completely covered up by tears, she quickly turned away trying to avoid looking at him. Trying to trot along but it wasn't as easy as it sounds. How could she not look back at her him when he was crying and sobbing. She was a mother figure for him. Twilight could almost relate to his feelings at the moment. She too had someone whom she never wanted to risk their life, but she wasn't about to make a single mistake with something as big as this.

She refused to look at him.

"I'm going to my thinking space Spike," She lifted her right hoof onto the wooden stair case, looking back at him "Don't disturb me."

He watched her trot upstairs, wanting to follow her. He was no one to disobey, he remembered those lessons Twilight taught him.

"Never contravene your superiors!"

He clenched his fist, urging himself not to speak, not to stand up for what he wanted. Instead he flopped onto the floor, arms crossed like the child he was, but keeping his tantrum to a low level.

Twilight sat on her bed, blocking out all sounds as much as possible, though it was onerous as she couldn't help herself to pay attention to the smallest details.

Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, It MOCKED me! Pulling me away from my studies like a bratty child wanting a lollipop! It begged, it mourned for my attention! I pleaded, I shouted inside for it to STOP! But thoughts and hopes no longer solve anything! Prayers! Pity! What will it do for me?! I can only stop this myself and then MAYBE just MAYBE I'll leave me to my studies! If I do anything it'll cause a scene! But what do I care?!? Make it stop!

The unicorn gritted her teeth, leviatating a lamp, closing one eye and focusing on that clock. She threw it with all her magic, causing racket to echo throughout the castle.

"Twilight!" Spike shouted, running at his fastest up the stairs, Twilight stopping him in his tracks, levitating him back to the bottom of the stairs.

"I'm fine!"

"I'm making her more stressed! Oh! I'm a terrible dragon!" Spike sobbed. The alicorn just rolled her eyes at the child, sighing.

"Com'on Spike, stiffen up that upper lip. I'm not enjoying your constant whining!" She held his chin up, looking him straight into his eyes.

"I'm sorry Twilight.." The dragon wiped his eyes.

"Just-" Twilight sighed. "Behave yourself. Make yourself useful." Her magic reached for a broom in the corner. "Here."

"What do I-" He looked at Twilight's frustrated eyes. "I'll get to it right away!" He flashed a nervous smile before sprinting into the next room.
