A golden filly with a beautiful mane like a cascading waterfall was laying on a bench outside of the Manehatten orphanage. She stared numbly at the ground, watching a ladybug slowly climb up a blade of grass.
"Crystal Spice!" she heard two voices call. Crystal looked up to see two purple fillies running toward her.
"Paint Swirl? Flower Gem? What are you two doing here?" Crystal asked her two best friends.
“I know! I can’t believe that our mother let us come! I mean, she knows we’re friends, but she doesn’t like when we hang out with you, she thinks that you’ll be a bad influence on us,” Paint Swirl said, she was the more talkative one.
“I had to beg all day yesterday with my puppy eyes,” Flower Gem said in a soft quiet voice. “I can’t believe you are moving to Ponyville with Lily Flower. She’s so pretty. I wish I had a coat like that.”
Lily Flower looked over to where the three young ponies were talking.
Crystal sighed. “I guess I will be going soon. I’ll miss you two,” she stood and hugged them both.
“We’ll make sure to visit,” Paint said. “We could always stay at our cousin Fluttershy’s cottage!”
Flower nodded. “We also brought you a going away present!” Each filly handed over a gift wrapped package.
Crystal opened Paint’s first. “Its beautiful!” she gasped. She had painted a perfect landscape of Manehatten at nighttime, Crystal’s favorite time of day. She carefully placed it on the bench, and proceeded to unwrap Flowers gift. A sparkling sapphire flower with an emerald stem and leaves glowed up at her.
“Thank you, thank you so much,” Crystal Spice’s eyes were brimming with tears. “I will miss you so much!”
“Us too,” the twins each hugged her one last time. Crystal heard the orphanage teacher calling her name.
“That’s my key to go,” Crystal waved her hoof at them in goodbye as she walked toward her old teacher.
