Fluttershy's Breezy Trip
It was a Breeze
Load Full StoryMy day had started like any other. Angel Bunny had woken me up, I got ready for the day, and I attended to my animal friends. It would be the trademark crash of Ditzy Doo that would change everything. Sure enough, the wall eyed mare had crashed into my mail box.
"Oops, sorry Fluttershy." Ditzy apologized as she straighten her hat.
"That okay, do you have anything for me?" I asked.
"Yes, this letter." the mailmare replied as she pulled it out of her bag. I took it from her.
"Thank you."
Ditzy tipped her hat and went on her way. I looked at the envelope. It was from the Equestrian Society for the Preservation of Rare Creatures. This must be the response to the request I had filed for a weeks back. I opened the envelope and read the letter. I rushed to the library as fast as I could, I just had to tell somepony! I knocked on the door and entered when I got there.
"Um, so sorry for barging in like this... but I'm so excited, I just couldn't wait to tell somepony!" I showed Twilight the letter. "The Equestrian Society for the Preservation of Rare Creatures have given me permission to observe the rarest, tiniest, most adorable magical creatures in all of Equestria – the Breezies!" I said happily.
"Wow, Fluttershy, that's fantastic!" Twilight replied.
"Oh, it's not just fantastic; it just might be the best news ever!"
With a loud CRASH Pinkie Pie forced her way into the library, knocking the door off its hinges in the process.
"I just got the most incredible mail anypony's ever received in all of recorded pony postal history! It's a flyer about a one-day sale on used patio furniture! Aah! Could this day get any better? Woo-hoo!" She cheered.
"Here's a wrap, in case it gets cold." Rarity said, giving me the wrap.
"And I packed you a basket of nice fresh apples in case you get hungry." Applejack added, giving me the basket.
"Have a great time!" Twilight said.
"Oh, I will. And I hope you have fun with Cadance." I replied.
The train whistled, indicating it was ready to go. "All aboard!" The conductor yelled. I got on the train,
"Goodbye! Goodbye, everypony!" I waved as the train departed. Pinkie started chasing the train
"Fluttershy! I'll never forget youuuuuuu!" she called as the train pulled away, leaving her behind.
I took a seat, but could hardly stay still. This was going to be exciting!
The train ride had been uneventful, but that was okay. The real fun was going to begin soon. When the train finally arrived at the station, I could see a pony holding a sign that read "ESPRC Breezie gathering". I walked over to him and he pointed me to a group a ponies gathered at the exit of the station. When I got to it, I walked up to a green earth pony mare with red and orange mane and tail styled in dreadlocks.
"Excuse me?" I asked. She looked up from a sheet of paper at me. "I'm here for the breezies."
"Are you Fluttershy?" she asked in a calm, monotone voice. I couldn't help but noticed that she smelled like a burned plant.
"Yes, I am."
"Righteous," she replied, stuffing the paper into her saddlebags,"I'm Tree Hugger. I'll be guiding you to, like the breezies."
"Oh, okay." I replied. "Are we waiting for anypony else?"
"Nope, you're the last one, let's get going." Tree Hugger announced. With that, we followed Tree Hugger. Everypony else had struck up conversation with each other, so I hung back as we went along. Soon we arrived at a field. "Alright everypony, enjoy yourselves, but be careful. Breezies are delicate creatures. The slightest touch can like, seriously injure them. Find me if you have any, like questions."
With that, the ponies scattered around, observing the little creatures. I found a place near some flowers and crouched down. A bunch of breezies flew over to the flowers and began taking their pollen.
"I wonder why they're doing that?" I wondered aloud.
"The breezies need that pollen so they can help with the reproduction of the plants native to their land." Tree Hugger told me as she came along side.
"The plants in their native land can't reproduce?"
"Nope, those plants can live forever, but there are only so many and they can only produce so much. However, the breezie population had recently started a comeback, and more plants are needed for them to survive. Who knows? It might get to a point when they aren't rare anymore."
One of the breezies, a blue one with pink hair wearing a black suit like garment turn to me. "Shema kanna de depunta" To my surprise, I was able to understand it.
"Such vulgar language."
"Oh yeah, I'm getting major negative vibes off that one. He's got a problem." Tree Hugger said thoughtfully.
"Vibes?" I asked.
"Vibrations of energy in this sense. All living things give off vibes based on how they're feeling. If one can pick up on these vibes, they can understand others on a deeper level. But that's just me, what about you?"
"What do you mean?"
"I'm getting a motherly aura off you, Fluttershy. I can tell you're a caretaker of some sort."
"I look after animals back home."
"Radical. I'm more of a plant pony myself, but animals are cool too. I mean, I wouldn't be a member of the Equestrian Society for the Preservation of Rare Creatures if I didn't think so. " Tree Hugger pause for a moment when her stomach growled loudly.
"I have some apple if your hungry." I offered.
"Righteous, hang on a second."
Tree Hugger dug into her saddlebags. She pulled out a picnic blanket and laid it on the ground. The other ponies soon joined us as we ate the fresh apples while watching the breezies fly around us.
"I'm surprised they managed to get here at all, given how delicate they are."
"The Society makes sure they, like get here safely. It's not easy. We, like have to plan ahead with towns all across Equestria to get the right condition for the Breezies to fly in. In fact, we have to plan their return trip."
"I'd love to help you with that."
"Bless your soul, Fluttershy. We need all the help we can get. It's alot of organizing though."
"I know somepony who can help with that."
"Sweet. I'll have to come with you though."
"Oh that's fine, I can't wait to show everypony my new friend, anyway!" I gasped and covered by mouth when I realized what I had said. But Tree Hugger placed a hoof on my shoulder and smiled. She didn't need to say anymore.
