He awakes from his long sleep. Though time has passed by quickly, he understands he did the wrong thing. He zooms up from his prison and escapes. He floats around the shiny and colourful Crystal Empire. He looks at ponies, but they don't look back and scream. He expects screams! Weird. But he carries on to the castle. He floats around the hallways, but no pony looks and screams.
Am I invisible? he thinks. He looks over at a guard, but he doesn't look back. He badly expects screams. I guess I am.
He arrives in the Throne Room, where the Crystal Princess and the Crystal Prince sits. They don't see him, either. He exits the castle by a swoop through the walls and zooms fast. He ends up catching a ride on the train.
He wakes up and finds himself at a train stop. He exits the train and heads around town. He ends up at the Book Store and looks at a mare. Lavender fur, midnight mane and tail with hot pink and royal purple highlights. She was also a unicorn, also with royal purple eyes. To his idea, she looked pretty. She didn't notice him, but she didn't know yet until she looks to the side. She see him. She gave a scream and ran away with the books. He follows her. He ends up in her Library, but not finding her. He sees stairs and floated above them. He found her upstairs in her room, more like under the blankets of her bed. He looks around and sees a mess.
"Who knew a pretty little mare would like in such clutter," he says.
"Why thank you," she says sarcastically.
"Hello, there."
She backs up a bit. "Hi."
"Don't worry," he says to her, "I can't hurt you, I'm a shadow, for eternity, I guess."
"How did this happen?"
"I was defeated by two certain alicorns."
"Oh."
"Where are my manners? They call me, King Sombra."
"Twilight Sparkle."
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"Yours as well. Huh, it's already starting to get late. Well then, night."
"I don't sleep."
"And why's that?"
"I don't need sleep, when I'm a shadow haunting somepony."
"Okay...." She says awkwardly before going back under her covers and sleeping.
Haunting this, Twilight Sparkle, he must be in his dreams. So, he swoops into her head and she has dreams featuring them both.
After two hours or three, Twilight wakes up screaming.
"What's wrong?" asks Sombra.
"N-nothing!" she replies.
"You sure?"
"Yes! No! Maybe!"
"If you say so."
"Anyways, the gala's soon. Since I'm an alicorn, I get in for free, and the best news is, it's hosted right here in Ponyville!"
"Well then. Since I'm a shadow, I think I can just swoop in for free, as well."
"I don't think that's possible, so I'll just get you a ticket, just in case."
"Alright."
As she left the Library to get his ticket, a smirk appeared on his face.
Twilight Sparkle didn't only go to get Sombra a ticket. She also went to ask Fluttershy some advice. She knocked on the door several times and the timid mare finally opened it.
"Oh, hi Twilight," she says. "Sorry it took a while to open the door, Angel Bunny's a handful. So, what'cha need?"
"I need some advice," Twilight answers. "Do you know how to handle a ghost haunting you?"
"Not really, but maybe you could read a book in your Library about it."
"Maybe so. Thanks, Fluttershy!" Twilight runs out to door to get Sombra's ticket.
It took a while for her to get home, due to the ginormous line with ponies waiting to get a ticket. But she gets home and searches for the book.
Sombra comes downstairs. "Did you get the ticket?"
She didn't answer, only levitated the ticket to him.
"Thanks."
"No prob," she looks for the book like there was no tomorrow.
"What are you searching for?" he asks.
"Oh nothing, just a book I'll be giving Fluttershy," she lied.
"What is it about?"
"For somewhat reason," she begins," she's being haunted, as well."
"Oh really? By who?"
"She doesn't know 'cuz he's never shown himself." Who knew how good Twilight was at lying? She wasn't even sweating!
"Well, as you said, the Gala's tomorrow, so you should get that book to her right away."
"I will, see ya!" she runs out another door for the second time.
Instead of going to Fluttershy's house, she goes into her secret place, above the Library. She begins the book for the next two hours.
Morning. She found herself in her bed, sleeping. Did he find out?she asks herself in her mind. Maybe he won't mind.
"How was your sleep?" Sombra asks.
"It was better."
"C'mon Twilight, you can tell me anything."
"No thanks."
"Just get ready, it's already 3:00 PM."
"3:00 PM!?" she screamily asks.
"Yep."
"I've gotta get ready, I've gotta get ready!"
"I'll meet you there, then."
"Yeah yeah, bye!"
He disappears to outside of the Library while Twilight gets her dress on. It was purple with yellow-orangeish silk above it, with pink stars. She also had pink and orange earrings and yellow royal shoes. She walks down the stairs and outside the Library. There stands Sombra in a blue suit with purple trim, and white normal shoes.
"Shall we head on our date, then?"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Twilight begins. "Date?"
"Well then, why did you give me the ticket?"
"Just in case!"
"If you say so."
The 'couple' head to Town Hall, where the Gala was being held. They walk over to Fluttershy.
"Hi, Twilight," greets Fluttershy.
"Hi, Fluttershy," she greets back. "This is Sombra, the ghost 'haunting' me."
"N-nice to meet you, s-sir."
"Nice to meet you as well," he says. "Both your dresses look pretty."
The two mares blush at the compliment. "Thanks!" they exclaim in unison.
"Shall we dance, Twilight?" he asks.
"S-sure."
"Shall I take the lead?"
"Okay."
They start a waltz, seeing that they are the only two dancing right now, until other ponies start dancing as well.
"So," Sombra starts, "who did you really want to bring to the Gala?"
"He couldn't make it," she lies.
"That's a shame," he says, just as rock music starts. "I'm gonna go mingle with other guests."
"Okay," she answers, as she heads over to Fluttershy.
"That was..interesting to watch," Fluttershy says.
Twilight would only simply nod. "I'm gonna go catch some air."
She went upstairs and out to the balcony.
"Am I..?" she questions herself. "No, I couldn't. I simply couldn't. He's a ghost and I'm a pony. I can touch while he can't. So, what am I gonna do!?" She thought back at her relationship of a name she dare not speak of.
"Please, Twilight!"
"No, Flash, you have broken my heart. Leave me be," she says as she walks off, being cut off with Flash hugging her.
"I said, leave me be!"
This happened only two weeks ago. Flash Sentry was saying rude things about Twilight to his friends. Twilight overheard and screamed these exact words:
You're not the pony I thought you were.
"Twilight?"
She turns around and sees Sombra. "Yes?"
"Is something the matter?"
"No."
"Then, why are you up here?"
"I just needed some air."
"Okay, then. We should be getting home, Gala's almost over. Fluttershy's already gone."
"Alright then."
The walk back was quiet, not one of them dares to speak.
"Tell me what's going on in your dreams."
"Fine," she pouted. "It that's I would be having a walk with you, just a little chat-"
"Chat about what?"
"I don't know, it was all mumbles to me. Anyways, you'd lean closer to my face.."
"Oh my."
"And..kiss me."
"I would do it right now if I had lips."
This put Twilight in awe. But she would answer with a simple nod. They arrived back at the Library and Twilight would fall asleep, having a dream about that name she dare not speak of. And it all turned up well until...
