Kylee shielded her eyes(1) from the bright sun, trying to turn over. "Five more minutes..." She mumbled. Then the memories of the events of earlier washed over her. She instantly stood up, and then stopped. She was in a large, wild forest. One that she didn't recognize.
"Not Treeshroud... Definitely not Apple Woods... And dosent look like Mystyfing. Where am I?"
Kylee stood up and looked around for Shadow, or Disaster, or Ally, or anyone she knew. She ran through the forest, calling their names over and over again.
"Shadow! Disaster! Ally! Anyone! Can you hear me?!"
Kylee searched for about an hour before giving up. "This is hopeless..." She thought. "I'll never find them. I need to find a way out."
Kylee wandered blindly for about 25 minutes before comming across a strange looking house. It was built in to a tree, and had a few decorations on the door.
"Hello?" Kylee asked, knocking on the door. "Anyone home?"
The door opened, revealing what Kylee could only describe as a strange looking Blitzle. The Blitzle glared at Kylee before stepping out of the house.
"Who are you, little feline, who has come here to this home of mine?"
Kylee looked at the Blitzle questoningly, but answered the question.
"I am Kylee, leader of Team Cascade. And you are?"
"My name is Zecora, little Kylee, but why have you come here to me?"
"Do you always speak in rhyme?" Kylee asked.
"It is an old habit of mine." Zecora replied, building off of Kylees words.
"Okay... So I came here... Well, I don't know why. I was talking to Shadow and suddenly woke up here."
Zecora looked at the Skitty with pity. "You miss your friend, is that so? Let me help you, let us go."
"Go? Go where?"
"Why, Ponyville of corse! The town has the queen little horse."
Kylee sighed. Se didn't know what was going on, but this "Zecora" could help her find Shadow. She had to go.
"Alright." Kylee said. "Let's go."
Chapter 3- Meeting Royalty
Kylee, Shadow, and Zecora finally emerged from the forest to a small town. The three of them made their way to the small town, with Zecora explaining about the different ponies.
"So... The 'ponies' kinda look like ponyta, and some have wings, horn, or nothing. Ones with wings fly and control weather, the ones with horns have some unseen force called 'Magic', and the ones with neither have incredible strength. That about sums it up?" Shadow summarized.
"That is correct. And the castle is to the left," Zecora said.
Zecora turned down a road and led the two Pokemon to a large, Crystal tree.
"Woah..." Kylee murmured.
"Amazing..." Shadow whispered.
Zecora just laughed and knocked on the door.
After a moment, the door opened. A small purple and green reptile stood there, yawning tiredly.
"Oh, hey Zecora. What do you- oh my Celestia what are those?"
Kylee stepped forward, slightly offended. "Excuse me, but we are sentient beings too. I am Kylee, and this is my partner Shadow. We are part of Team Cascade."
The little dragon just stood for a moment before shaking his head. "Why don't you three come inside. I-I'll go get Twilight. Oh, and my names Spike."
"Nice to meet you, spike. And thank you." Kylee said, bounding gracefully in to the castle. Shadow and Zecora followed closely behind.
After a few moments, Spike returned with a Purple "Pony" Kylee guessed it was. However, this one was unlike what Zecora taught her. It has wings AND a horn.
"Hello Zecora! What- dear Celestia what are those?"
Kylee growled a little bit, but held back. "My name is Kylee, leader of Team Cascade. This is my partner, Shadow, the second in command."
Twilight processed the talking cat on her couch for a moment before slowly backing away. "I'm going to... Go get some water..." She said, turning around and trotting to the kitchen .
Twilight emerged from the kitchen, a cup of water levitating in what Kylee assumed was a magic aura,
"Almost like a physic type." She thought.
"So... Kylee and Shadow... What exactly are you?" Twilight asked politely.
Kylee looked at Twilight, confused for a moment. "You mean there really aren't Pokemon here?" She asked. "You really don't know?"
Twilight shook her head. "I've never even heard of a Pokemon." She replied.
Kylee sighed before explaining. "Well, Shadow and I are part of a collective race called Pokemon, Pokemon are creatures with amazing abilities, like control over the elements, reading minds, ect. I am a Skitty, while Shadow here is a Shinx. We still have two members of our team missing though. An Absol named Disaster and a Girriafarig named Ally."
Twilight nodded as she took. It's from a paper she pulled seemingly out of nowhere.
"So... How exactly do you control the elements? I know that powerful Unicorns can use lightning and fire, but it takes years of practice."
Kylee thought for a moment before answering. "Well, each Pokemon has 1 or 2 types. Types represent what element the Pokemon can control, but they can have access to limited control of other elements. The types are normal, fighting, flying, poison, ground, rock, bug, ghost, steel, fire, water, grass, electric, physic, ice, dark, dragon, and fairy. Each type has advantages and weaknesses over some other types. For example, fire is strong against grass because fire can burn grass types. Some Pokemon are also not very effective on some other types, like how electric isn't good against rock. Some Pokemon are entirely immune, like how normal types can't hit ghost types."
Twilight nodded, again writing the information. "So... Each type controls an element? But how?"
"It would be easier to show you." Shadow said, standing up. "Kylee, ready for a demonstration?"
Kylee leapt up, smiling. "You bet! Hey, Zecora, are there any clearings we could use?"
Zecora nodded. "There is one on the other side of town. I remember, it was where I was first found."
Kylee was about to ask a question, but twilight interrupted. "Come on. Let's go!"
The two Pokemon and Zebra followed Twilight through the town, earning curious stares and whispers from the other ponies.
"With Zecora? Must be Everfree monsters,"
"Can't be. Too cute."
Kylee and Shadow ignored the comments, continuing to follow Twilight until they reached a clearing with a lake by it. Kylee leapt forward to one side of the clearing while shadow went to the other.
"This is a one on one battle with no time limit. Bate begin!" Kylee called out, leaping up.
"Ice Beam!" She called, sending a beam of frozen air at Shadow. The ice condensed at his feet, trapping him. However, shadow just laughed.
"You think that will stop me? Iron tail!" He called, his tail glowing white. He knocked at the ice a few times before hitting it hard, shattering it to peices.
"Shock wave!" He yelled, absorbing electricity before condesing it in one place. He fired the glowing ball at Kylee, hitting her on the side. Kylee shook off the attack before diving at the ground. "Dig!" She yelled, burrowing down.
Shadow stood still, his eyes closed, listening for where kylee would appear. He leapt to the side as she came up from under him, then again as she done down and came up again. This continued until there were around 15 holes in the field. Shadow then heard kylee call out her next move, one he dreaded.
"Double Team!"
Three copies of Kylee came out of each hole, surrounding Shadow on all sides.
"Discharge!" Shadow called, hitting all the copies with one attack. Every copy disappeared, leaving the field empty.
"What?" Twilight said alloud. "What was that?"
"Double team." Said shadow. "Makes a bunch of copies of kylee. But normally there would be one left, who's the original."
Twilight nodded. "So where's the real one?"
Shadow shook his head. "I don't know." He said. Just then, an eruption of blue light came out of the hole nearest to Shadow. He was caught off guard, and fell to the ground.
"Zen Dig!" Kylee called out. It was her signature combo.
Kylee came out of the hole, her head glowing purple. The super-effective Dig along with the Zen Hedbutt was too much for Shadow. He collapsed, his eyes going swirly.
Twilight ran forward, looking like the face of rage.
"How DARE you! Your friends, and you attack each other to the point of passing out?! What kind of thing it this?!"
Kylee took a step back, confused. "B-but we... This is what Pokemon do! We battle to get stronger and then evolve!"
Twilight growled at the Skitty angrily. "What you do? WHAT YOU DO?! You could have killed him! You could have hurt him really badly!"
Kylee growled back, taking a step forward. "I held back! There are rules in battles! Rules that keep Pokemon safe! Battling is part of a pokemons instinct. It's what we do!"
Twilight took a step forward as well, still angry. "And how will you help him?! He's hurt and the hospital doesn't know a thing about Pokemon!"
Kylee rolled her eyes. "The bag shadow had will have all our healing berries in it. Plus, Pokemon Have extreamly fast healing rates. One good nap and he will be back to normal in no time."
Twilight sighed. "Fine. Bring him to the castle and we can give him some of your 'Healing Berries'"
Kylee yawned, a big smile on her face. She looked over at her sleeping partner, Shadow. Her and Shadow had been through so much together, and they had always been close. But today, Kylee knew it was time she tell him.
She loved him.
Kylee prodded at Shadows side until he woke up. He too yawned and stretched before looking up at Kylee.
"Hey Kylee. Ready for another day of world-saving and crime-fighting?"
Kylee laughed at the joke and shook her head. "Actually, Shadow, I was wondering if we could... Take a break. Just for the day. You know, go on a walk, have a dinner together, the things friends do."
Shadow pondered the thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, that sounds good. A day to freshen up and recharge. I like it. Let's go and... Relax?" Shadow stopped and thought for a second. "What exactly are we going to DO today?"
Kylee laughed for a moment before smiling at him. "Follow me!" She said happily before leaping up the stairs and out of the small house in Sharpedo Bluff.
The two felines walked through Tresure Town and down to the beach. Kylee had planned this day in advance, so she had asked Lapras to leave. Sure enough, the sea turtle was gone.
"Wonder where Lapras is." Shadow thought aloud.
"Not sure." Kylee replied. She then took a deep breath. "Shadow... I need to tell you something."
The blue lion looked at Kylee questoningly. "What is it?" He asked.
"I..." Kylee started. Then the stopped and realized, she had no way to say this without being really blunt about it. She knew she had to be direct to tell him, so she leaned in to his shoulder and smiled. "I... I love you, Shadow. I have ever since the guilds exploration. I... I want you as my mate... For life. I love you more than my words will ever say."
She pulled her head back to see Shadow staring at her in full shock. "Y-You... Love me?" He asked in disbelief. But before Kylee could respond, Shadow suddenly vanished. Kylee looked around in shock, before she too vanished from the face of the Earth.
Zecora and Kylee walked through the woods, taking a little as they went.
"So... What's this forest called anyways?" Kylee asked.
"The forest is called Everfree, and it is a home for me." Zecora said.
Kylee looked at Zecora. "Seriously, can you try to talk normally?" She asked.
Zecora shook her head. "Do do so would be a crime. I can not stop speaking in rhyme."
Kylee just looked ahead and sighed.
"How much longer till we're there?" She asked.
"Not much farther, but look out. Poison Joke is growing about." Zecora answered.
"Poison Joke? What is that?"
"A kind of plant that grows here. Watch out, it's jokes are stuff to beware."
"That... Hardly even rhymed..." Kylee mumbled, but shook it off just as the two came across a patch of large blue flowers.
"That it?" Kylee questioned.
"That right there is Poison Joke, do not touch, and do not poke."
Kylee nodded and skirted around the plants. Whatever they were, she wasn't going to step in to them.
Soon, Kylee saw light ahead. "The exit!" She cried, racing forward. What she didn't expect, however, was the light to not lead to the exit, but to a light blue lion-like animal who was shooting lightening out of its body.
"S-Shadow!" Kylee called. "Is that you?"
The Shinx looked over at Kylee and smiled. "Kylee! Your Alive!" He said happily, bounding over to her. Kylee gave Shadow a big hug before Zecora walked over to them. "This is your friend I presume? My name is Zecora, what about you?"
Shadow stared at the zebra for a moment before replying. "My name is Shadow, the most handsome Shinx around, and second in command of Team Cascade." He replied.
Zecora nodded. "I've heard much of this Team Cascade. Tell me, what is it for that this team had been made?"
"Does she always speak in rhyme?" Shadow whisperd to Kylee. Kylee nodded and began to answer Zecoras question.
"Team Cascade is an Exploration Team made up of 4 members. They are me, Shadow, Disaster the Absol, and Ally the Giraffarig. Our job is to help others in need, catch wanted criminals, and discover new lands. Shadow and I even saved the world. Twice."
Zecora nodded. "I'd love to hear that story soon, but the town is ahead, so let's zoom."
Shadow looked at Kylee questioningly. "Seriously, why does she do that?"
"Old habit apperantly." Kylee responded, shaking her head. "Come on. Let's go to this town Zecora told me about. We might get help there."
Shadow nodded. "Let's go and find out what the heck we got ourselves into this time..."
