"Fluttershy! Breakfast is ready!"
"I'm going!"
Groaning, Fluttershy left her bed and went to the kitchen, were her parents and brother received her with a smile.
"Hey sis, remember that tomorrow it's our birthday!"
"I won't forget."
"Okay, sweetheart, but you two should get ready for school." said their mom.
After a quick breakfast, they got dressed, both with the same clothes :
A green T-shirt, a yellow sweater, white pants, and yellow sneakers.
The only differences between the twins were their genders and names, besides that they were exactly the same in appearance, mind and soul, like two water drops.
Their school was in the other side of the village, but they would always got there it time.
Both were greeted with friendly smiles and some hugs before getting in their places.
A couple of minutes after the class started, Butterscotch started being teased by some of the guys who sat next to him.
''You're sooo girly!''
"Not even your family really appreciates you, don't they?"
" They would rather-
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!" said a voice next to them.
No one was surprised to see Fluttershy, who hardly made a sound,defending her brother like a guardian: The twins took care from each other in any way possible.
"Who is interrupting my class?"
" It was Fluttershy."
"N-no teacher, I just-
"Fluttershy, would you follow me to my office?"
"OK."
As the teacher and the girl leaved, all started whispering with their friends what they though of what was going to happen with her.
Butterscotch only sat in his place, thinking:
You didn't had to do that,you'll get in trouble as always.Please, be okay,please.You are always there when I need you.I don't want you to be punished too.
The teacher sighed as she sat in her desktop. This was the third time in the week that something like this happened. Sometimes it was Butterscotch. Another times, Fluttershy.
"Now, Fluttershy, we have talked of what happens when you interrupt my class."
"B-but they were teasing h-
" And we have also talked about protecting him this way.You can't protect him always, instead, teach him how to protect himself.That goes to you, too.You both need to know how to protect yourselves, life is not that easy, and one day you would not be there to help him."
"How was school ?"
"Fine."
"Are you sure, Scotch, honey?"
"Yes, mom."
"Fine, but after you finish your salad would you like to go the park with your dad and sister?"
Butterscotch's face lit up with the idea.
" That would be wonderful!"
"Great, so tell your sister about it."
"Yay!"
As he ran up the stairs, Meadow Lily started laughing for herself, thinking:
These kids are just the same person! I'm sure they are going to be really excited tomorrow!
"Kids wake up, it's your birthday, and also Saturday!"
"Oh yeah, well, happy birthday Scotch!"
"Happy birthday too Flutters!"
After a delicious breakfast, some games, a little party in family and lots of fun, their dad gave them to white small boxes with a green ribbon.
"This is for you kids, open it."
Inside the boxes were two identical medallions, attached to a golden chain, each one showing a photo of the twins smiling.
Both remembered the day they took this photo. It was in a scholar trip. It was one of the happiest days of their lifes.
"Kids, you are really united. Keep always like that. Happy birthday."
After both went to bed, Butterscotch whispered to her sister:
"This medallions will keep us together, don't you think so?"
"Sure! I was going to say that, too."
"That is because we are almost the same person."
"I love you, Scotch."
"I love you too, Flutters."
In a dark cave, away from human's sight, stood King Sombra, who was supposedly destroyed by the princesses a million years ago."Finally, I can get my revenge, after all this years.My troops are ready, just a few more weeks. Equestria will regret the day they banished me."
Some weeks after the twins' birthday, both were waked up with the sounds of big explosions, burning houses and screaming people. Confused, both went down the stairs only to found that their house was destroyed and on fire.
Worried, both got dressed quickly and went to the living room.
"MOM!!!!!! DAD!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOO !!!!!!"
Their parents stood in the middle of a pool of blood, both corpses with a scared expression on the face.
Before they could do anything, a horde of dark soldiers entered in the room searching hidden people.
"YOU LITTLE BRATS ARE COMING WITH US!!!!!"
Both started running the fastest they could to get away from the soldiers, but after a few miles away they got into a dead end in an alley. There was no escape.
" FLUTTERSHY!!"
"BUTTERSCOTCH!!"
Fluttershy looked in shock as the soldiers grabbed Butterscotch from the back, then she fell in a hole behind a wall.There she could hear that the soldiers left with her brother, leaving her alone and helpless, hidden in a hole.
Why does this has to happen to me. My parents and Butterscotch were all the family I had. The corpses, the fire, the war, it was horrible, but the worst was the way he looked at me. Why them? Why couldn't I go in their places? she though as she started crying. Why?
A few hours later she felt a hand in her shoulder, before she collapsed.
As this happened, a seventeen-years old Fluttershy waked up in the middle of the night, breathing heavily.
