A Beauty with a Beast

Spike puffed another breath of fire onto the cooling eggs, as they needed to be warm. He couldn't sit on them like a bird, that's not what dragons did. And since Rarity wasn't even able to breath fire, he had to do it.

Which involved eating a ton of nasty charcoal.

Spike hated the flavor, smell, and mess, while Rarity just hated the smell and mess. But it was necessary if they wanted their foals to hatch. So charcoal for a snack it was.

"Spikey," Rarity said, nearly whining, "Could you at least keep the charcoal in it's bag, or in a bowl, or SOMETHING to keep it off the floor? It's making a massive mess that I need to keep cleaning!"

Spike replied wearily, "It'll only be another day or so before the eggs hatch. I don't enjoy having to get up so early to keep the eggs warm..." Spike started to doze off, his head drooping. Rarity grabbed his cheeks and patted his face to wake him up.

"Don't worry, Spike, as soon as these eggs hatch, I'm getting up with them. Now, go take a nap for a little bit, I'll wake you when they need to be warmed." Spike hummed out a "Mm-hm..." as he wandered off towards the bedroom. Rarity laid down next to the eggs and wrapped her hooves around them, slightly burning her front legs. She let them burn. "I'll always love you two... No matter what you," Rarity yawned, "look like..."

The loud sound of cracking woke Rarity, and she looked up to find a tiny purple set of claws pushing their way through the violet egg. Fresh cracks covered the green egg, just as the whole leg stuck it's way out of the violet egg. A tiny mouth then started biting the edge of the hole, making it larger. Rarity began to panic and ran to woke up Spike.

"Spikey! Spike, wake up! The eggs are hatching!" She shook her furiously, and he jumped awake.

"What? They're hatching?! I'll go get some towels and warm water! You go get Fluttershy!"

When Rarity got back with Fluttershy through teleportation, two violet legs were sticking out of the violet egg, and the baby in the green egg was biting away at the edge of the hole it had made. Fluttershy said, "Let the babies get out on their own, and when they're done, I'll wash them up."

It took two hours for both babies to make it out of the eggs, but by then, all of the elements of harmony and then some had gathered in the boutique to see the historical day that a pony and dragon had babies. Every one of the ponies Aww'd at the sight of the two strange looking foals.

The violet one was a female with tiny dragon wings, and the green one was a male with tiny dragon wings as well. They had a basic pony's body, but with claws on their hooves. Both foals had tons of freckles covering their faces, only slightly darker than their coat color. Both also had tiny dragon tails, tipped with a slight bit of hair. Their manes were brunet, the females eyes were deep blue, and the male's eyes were dark green.

"Now that you know the genders," Twilight said, "What will you name them?"

"I'd been asking Spike for a few days now, and we'd picked two female names and two male names. The female's were Beauty and Gemstone, and the males were Wild Claws and Beast. What do you guys think?"

"Hmm..." Pinkie said, "Why not combine them? Beau-Gem Stoney and Wild Beaclawsts!"

"Uh, Pinkie," Rainbow Dash said, "Those don't make any sense. How about Beauty Gem and Beast Claws?"

"Potato-Tomato," Pinkie said, waving off Dash.

"Those are perfect names for our foals, Dashie! Little miss Beauty Gem and little mister Beast Claws." She nuzzled both foals in turn, and they coo'd happily.

Rainbow Dash had brought in Rapid when she'd come, and the tiny foal wandered up to Beauty, and placed a hoof on her muzzle. Rarity got scared, but Beauty just giggled and did the same. This scared Rarity even more, since she thought the fillies claws would scratch Rapid. "Aww, Rarity, Dashie, they've become friends!" Pinkie said.

"Y-Yes, they surely... have..." stuttered Rarity.
