Rainbow Heart 2
Chapter 2 The Aftermath
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe night was dark and breezy. Tracker sat at his desk with the window open going over the classified folders one last time before he would disembark to go searching for clues. Tracker knew he had his work cut out for him.
Tracker was the chief investigator in Equestria. He was chosen by the Alicorns of Equestria to investigate all of the incidents surrounding the Rainbow Heart Zombie Resurrection and Spirit Necromancy Case and anything that may be related. He was a blue earth pony with blue eyes and a black mane, and tail. His cutie mark was a magnifying glass.
Most importantly, he was searching for the still at large pony Rainbow Heart and any accomplices that he may have. Many ponies had dropped off their independent case folders to him containing the information about the incidents occurring last week’s past on Nightmare Night and the night prior to it. This included much needed background investigations on the five deceased ponies who had aided Rainbow Heart from beyond the grave.
Tracker went through the files on the five deceased ponies who helped Rainbow Heart. He read the words and in his mind it was like watching a movie in a theater.
The first was Solar Salute. He was a well decorated solar guard with more than his fair share of battle scars. He was married to a mare named Flower Garden. His death report showed that a witness saw him shove a mare out of the way of a changeling who was charging at the mare. Solar’s death was he got penetrated by the changeling’s horn through the heart. This was during Queen Chrysalis’ attack on Canterlot.
The second folder contained Pizza Party’s demise. Witnesses claim that he charged into a burning house to save a foal. Pizza Party had dropped the baby out of a window to the safety of the ponies below who caught the foal. This was before he died by fire, burnt alive mostly, unable to escape himself. It was an accident that had started in regards to the chaos Tirek started when he came to Ponyville.
The third folder belonged to Bubblegum: A report from the pony she saved claimed that Bubblegum used her special bubblegum talents to make a balloon out of the gum by blowing into the chewed substance, which was able to go airborne and carry the earth pony away who couldn’t swim when Discord caused Chaos in Ponyville resulting in a water flood. According to the saved witness, Bubblegum had just taken back to the sky when she was struck by a wooden pole or pillar of some sort that fell down as a result of the flood. The accident broke her wings and legs in one powerful swift unseen blow. This occurred just after she took off out of the water, resulting her plummeting back into the water. She drowned alive and conscious.
The fourth and fifth folder occurred at the same event. The ponies were Arcadia and Cirrus who were best friends and probably more. Some ponies who knew them thought they were friends with benefits, but such information was not important to the case really. They both died during the pandemonium when Nightmare Moon appeared in Ponyville. As a team they were trying to rescue ponies from the panic that ensured. Unknown to most ponies the event also triggered many natural disasters that night. It was almost like nature itself had opposed the event. Arcadia had saved a pony from a landslide. While Cirrus flew the pony to safety, a second landslide occurred, burying Arcadia. Cirrus seeing this flew back hastily to save him but was struck by the electricity when the thunder roared. Arcadia was buried in a landslide and died while Cirrus was struck and killed by lightning while trying to save Arcadia, her friend. They had saved many lives that night.
It was tragic. All of it. They did not deserve to die. None of them did. They were all heroes during the villain attacks of the past. It made sense why Rainbow Heart chose these heroic ponies. They were brave and their courage would inspire the other victim zombie ponies who had died at the hooves of the villains and were buried at the Stones of Tears.
Then the last file that was brought to him was on the pony from the missing empty grave at the stones. The name of the pony was Double Rainbow, and not coincidentally, the mate of Rainbow Heart. This led him to believe that Double Rainbow was still on the loose also and probably the one aiding him. Apparently, Double Rainbow died during the Canterlot Wedding incident involving Queen Chrysalis. Although the details are somewhat sketchy.
There were four more files on his desk. One was the report on Rainbow Heart which he had read many times already. It pretty much stated that he was a spa pony, but left after the death of his loved one. Apparently, he worked as a security guard for a while. Tracker speculated it was during this time he was doing research into dark magic. Then the rest is history. He raised the dead ponies and cause a buffet of chaos.
The other three files were some apparent murders, these gristly deaths of some ponies had occurred within the same time frame of the zombie pony incident. It was his belief that it was Double Rainbow who had done those crimes while Rainbow Heart and the other ponies marched on Ponyville and then Canterlot. It was clear to Tracker that these deaths were somehow related to the death of Rainbow Heart’s mate, Double Rainbow. These traps as initial reports informed do appear to be related. It was his job to find out and he was personally gonna go investigate the scenes himself for a first person view of it. He had been put in charge of the whole investigation and he was gonna leave no stone or tombstone unturned.
The initial reports as Tracker had breezed through them stated that there were three incidents discovered. The first found was by a pony named Clockwork whose special talent is clocks and gears, in general. The mass of body was found in the Ponyville Clock Tower after he noticed the clock was not working and went in to repair it. The next corpse that was seen was found by a pony named Night Wanderer. He found the pony corpse in a cave, which defiantly was not the result of natural causes. The third discovery was by a foreman named Hard Flank. He discovered a deceased pony in a garbage compacting unit or what was left of it. The suspect was clearly a stalking horse who enjoyed the hunt and the kill. However, this did go completely against Double Rainbow’s personality. Double Rainbow was known all across the surrounding areas as a pony who would help everyone and gave things freely to ponies in need. Perhaps dying at the hooves of a monster changed him into this killer.
Tracker got up from his desk and put his official hat and metal badge on. He heading out to investigate the scenes. All of this was somehow connected. He knew it and he was going to get to the bottom of it.
