Rainbow Heart 2
Chapter 4 The Darkness
Previous ChapterNext ChapterStill dazed and with a headache like someone hit her on the back of the head from behind, Roadkill could feel nothing else but large, cold, and damp stones beneath her aching body. She opened her eyes and let them adjusted. They widened with shock when she realized she was not at home. The room was dark only lit by candles. She sprung to her feet confused and scared. Was this a nightmare?
“Are you all right?” a voice came from an obscured and sagging doorway.
The white pony entered the old style room, his hooves banging like coconuts on the stone. The unicorn looked to be in pretty bad shape with what appeared to be bloody cloth slightly visible, which appeared to have been attempted to be concealed under a scarf of some kind. The dingy room was in no better condition. It appeared to be a den of some sort and she had been laying in front of an unlit fireplace.
“I am okay. But what am I doing here? What did you do to me?” Roadkill exclaimed inspecting her body for injuries or worse.
“My name is Double Rainbow. You’re here against your will. I understand this. But I promise no harm will come to you if you do something for me.” The white unicorn informed.
Roadkill, feeling insecure, didn’t want to start any trouble and knowing she was in danger, stated, “Okay. I’ll do it. What is it that you want?”
“I need you to take care of my lover. I have errands to run and can’t take care of him myself.” Double Rainbow informed.
Roadkill stated, “That sounds easy enough. Where is he?”
“Follow me.” Double Rainbow ordered using his horn to light the way through the dimly lit passageways.
She followed not resisting.
Roadkill had been kidnapped by this unicorn named Double Rainbow. Roadkill is a female earth pony. She was responsible for cleaning up dead animals usually run over by carriages but any dead animal in the road or elsewhere. She would pick them up and bury them or have them cremated. Roadkill was an orange unicorn with a pink mane, a purple tail, and teal eyes. Her cutie mark was a shovel with a pet face that had “X”’s for eyes.
They went through a creepy door into a dining room like area. It was also lit by candles. Oddly all the windows appeared to have been blacked out or filled with stone. On the opposite side of the room was a dark area. It wasn’t until she and Double Rainbow got closer that she could actually see what it was.
Double Rainbow stated, “This is my mate, Rainbow Heart.”
Oddly Rainbow Heart didn’t even appear to notice them. Roadkill could clearly see some injuries.
Roadkill asked, “Is he alright?”
Double Rainbow informed, “My life will be fading momentarily and I have much work to do. I don’t have the time to watch him while he recovers. As you can see he has become a mere shadow of his former self, inflicting injuries upon himself amongst other things in failed attempts to bring back his mind, his consciousness, back into full control of his body. The pony’s body was meant to only have one soul resting in its vessel. Rainbow Heart had close to 100 spirits infect his body at once. His own thoughts are confusing to him. He is unaware if he is thinking his own thoughts or if somepony else is. His recovery will happen in time, but until then he has to be watched until his mind recovers from the mental lapses.”
Double Rainbow then went into detail as to how Rainbow Heart had sustained his injures. Rainbow Heart was a bloody mess. Rainbow Heart was laying on a spa table with 100 sewing pins bloody and pushed into his front left foreleg, clearly done by himself. A bandage was wrapped around his head where the second horn was removed via axe among other apparent self-inflicted injuries. There was also a bandage wrapped around his hips. With a smaller version kitchen knife he had severed one of his cutie marks from his body in the pelvic area. It was the right flank cutie mark. It was cut out and removed skin and all down to exposed muscle, maybe even down to the bone. The white pony was in slightly better shape it appeared.
Roadkill was hesitant now. She knew Rainbow Heart needed special care.
Roadkill kindly argued, “I only deal with dead animals. What he really needs is a doctor. I’m not sure I can do what you want me to do.”
Double Rainbow barked to Roadkill, “Hold your horses. Every horse thinks its own pack is the heaviest. You will do this for me. Let me put it to you this way. Whatever happens to my family while I am away regardless if you do it to him or he does it to himself will be doubled to yours!”
Roadkill gulped. She was going to be responsible for Rainbow Heart while he was away. This was not good. Rainbow Heart clearly needed mental help as well as physical treatments.
Double Rainbow stated, “Heart! I gotta surprise gift for you. It’s a new friend!”
Rainbow Heart, a black unicorn, as if he had just been alerted to their presence got up excitedly and rushed over to them like a dog whose owner had just arrived home.
Rainbow Heart had a sickly twisted and creepy smile with wide eyes.
Rainbow Heart said excited moving his legs up and down in a giddy way, “I has a new friend. I has a new friend. I has a new friend.” Rainbow Heart continued giggling at the end, “Let’s play a game.”
Roadkill chocked out with a fake smile, “Yeah, okay. That’ll be fun.”
It was then Rainbow Heart using magic to levitate the item attempted to cut his front right foreleg with a rotary cutter.
“Ok. Whoever bleeds the most wins.” Rainbow Heart challenged.
Before Rainbow Heart could use the blade, Double Rainbow used his magic to overpower and stop the action.
Double Rainbow shouted, “No! Bad, Rainbow Heart! Bad pony! Do not do hurtful things to yourself!”
“It’s what all the voices said. They are everywhere! They want vengeance! All of Equestria will be destroyed! Oh, meal time!” Rainbow Heart stated.
Rainbow Heart left for the kitchen.
“I’ll leave you two to get acquainted. Keep a very close eye on him.” With seriousness in his face, Double Rainbow looked directly at Roadkill and reminded her, “Whatever happens to him won’t happen to you. But it will happen to all of your loved ones. That I promise.”
The white unicorn turned and departed.
The black unicorn returned with two plates of food and cups with liquid in it. Both kitchenware didn’t appear to have been cleaned lately if ever.
Rainbow Heart stated, “This sandwich is a secret family recipe.”
Roadkill looked awkwardly at the stack and in between the layers and informed, “But it’s just a slice of bread sandwiched between two other slices of bread.”
“I know. And no pony has ever thought of it.” Rainbow Heart added. “I have a drink too. It’s like coffee, but I call it ponffee. My mate brought home a corpse of a bad pony. I use the blood instead of coffee grounds to percolate with the water. Then I cooked some flesh and cut it into little chucks to make ponffee. Enjoy!” Rainbow Heart stated in derangement.
Roadkill felt sick to her stomach. Completely grossed out by what she had just been informed. This was an awful situation. She hoped that someone would notice that she was missing soon, get help, and prayed to Celestia that someone would find her as soon as possible. This was going to be hell. Rainbow Heart downed his food and drink. Roadkill was more hesitant about the sustenance.
“The end of Equestria is coming!” Rainbow Heart exclaimed, eyeballing the wall, “I was hoping there’d be a specifically placed hole right here in the wall so I could squeeze one last one off before the end. Hmmm… I need a drill to make the hole.”
Roadkill rolled her eyes.
