The alarm rang out with an obnoxious beep, the pony in the bed groaned, and rolled over to turn it off with a hoof. The light blue earth pony pulled herself out of bed, 7:00pm. Walking over to the bathroom Sky Gazer rinsed off her face in the sink, and then She did her business. Leaving to go down into the observatory, the clop of her hooves down the stair echo louder the closer she got to the massive telescope. Her purple eyes scanned the room for a specific book she needed to update. Starting a trot, she finally found the book on the table near the book shelves. picking it up, Sky Gazer carried it to the telescope and flipped it open to the page where the corrections were needed. She then turned the telescope to show her the nebula in Orion's mighty belt, taking a quill she fixed the names of the stars. When she had finished, Sky Gazer put the book back on the shelf. She drew a content sigh, she had finally fixed all of the astronomy books, and could now shipped back to their home libraries. Sky Gazer smiled and made her way out to the balcony, to stare in pure bliss at the stars and moon in the night sky. She surprisingly liked to look at the stars and planets from here instead of studying them with the high powered telescope, she safeguarded. Then, high in the sky, she caught a glimpse of a dark blue, flying object. Sky Gazer looked at the spot she saw it, but nothing was there. She shrugged turning to go inside when the sound of wingbeats made her heart jump into her throat. Sky Gazer slowly turned to see Princess Luna Standing before her, She quickly bowed greeting thr Princess kindly. "Is it true that thou is an...oh what did my sister call it, Astronomer?" The Princess spoke semi loud, Sky Gazer nodded. "Yes, I am," She said happily, "Then it is important the we must speak with you ," "Oh, Why? what is it that you need Princess Luna?" Princess Luna was silent for a moment, Sky Gazer shifted on her hoofs. "We need you to show us how much you truly know about the night sky, for if you are false in your knowledge then the title, Astronomer does not belong to you," Princess Luna stated firmly. Sky Gazer gulped, dread rising, She could only nod. Princess Luna began asking all kinds of questions, like what the group of stars make up what constellation, or where is what planet in the night sky. After the quiz was over the Princess look impressed. Which calmed Sky Gazer down some. "Well, thou truly knows what thou is talked about, It makes us very happy with thou, Sky Gazer," Princess Luna praised, "Oh, Thank you," Sky Gazer responded. The Princess nodded, and smiled. The dark blue Alicorn stood up turning to leave. "We will be back, we just need to fetch something quick, with my sister's knowledge of course," "Why? Is it dangerous?" Sky Gazer asked, fearful. "No, Its just important for something," And with that the Princess of the night spread her wings and flew off, leaving Sky Gazer to wait and question for her return. When the Princess returned she was floating in her magic, a book and stack of parchment. Sky Gazer cocked her head in confusion. "From this point on, we will be making some changes in the stars and we want thou to prove themselves once more by following and recording the changes in this book here, We will expect a copy of the drawing to be sent to us," Princess Luna informed. Sky Gazer's jaw hung open for a second before she shook her head finally understanding the order/request. "Ok, so this is another test then," She said, blankly. "Yes and no, thou has intrigued us now and our real intentions will be revealed soon," Princess Luna smiled before floating the items and placing them on the table. Sky Gazer began to look through the book making a rough estimate on how long this was going to last. "Thou will start tomorrow night," She said sternly. Then the Princes flew off into the night and wasn't coming back this time. Sky Gazer was trying to understand the Princess's sudden interest in her, there was plenty of other equally as talented Astronomers out there, Why choose her? Sky Gazer shrugged and went into the kitchen to fetch a glass of water bringing it back to the table where the book, and paper still lay, peacefully. She then returned to the balcony and charted out the sky tonight as a reference guide for tomorrow, it would definitely be handy. However, as she mapped, her focus was jumping between thoughts once again, but She after awhile blocked them out. Then an interesting thought popped into her brain. "Is the Princess always going to talk like that? //-------------------------------------------------------// Tomorrows Test //-------------------------------------------------------// Tomorrows Test The sun came up after a while sending the Astronomer to her bed. Crawling in, Sky Gazer got comfortable, and set her alarm for a bit earlier, 6:30 instead just so she hopefully didn't keep the Princess waiting. As sleep was beginning to take her under, her thoughts drifted around in her mind, why did Princess Luna take an interest in her?, and what do these test confirm? were common. Eventually, She fell asleep, her dreams carried her away to a Canterlot, where she was plopped into a library, where a purple pony was pacing around, looking for books. Sky Gazer raised an eyebrow, "Why am I here with Princess Twilight Sparkle?" She stayed where she was until the purple pony noticed her, "What are you doing here? This is supposed to be off limits to visitors of the castle?" Twilight demanded, Sky Gazer gasped, and looked around before noticing she was wearing saddle bags and Twilight was a Unicorn not a Alicorn meaning this dream is taking place before that. "I was told to bring the books I had updated about Astronomy here, I'm sorry if this is the wrong library." Sky Gazer said quickly. Twilight looked her over carefully before frowning, "Fine, put them over there on that table over there," Twilight pointed her hoof to a table in front of a few bookshelves. Sky Gazer nodded, and walked over to the table emptying out her saddle bags placing the books there. "I have a question, Why are you an Astronomer if you're not a Unicorn?" Twilight asked, "Why is this shocking?! Is it not normal?" Sky Gazer thought angerly before answering the question. "Because I've had a passion for Space and Star Gazing since I was a filly," Twilight nodded before returning to finding her books muttering something about the Elements of Harmony, and The Longest of the Thousandth Year. Suddenly her dream blurred and Sky Gazer appeared in cloud of mist, and stars. Looking further in the distance, she saw Princess Luna facing her. She trotted over, and bowed once at a reasonable spot in front of Princess Luna. Who smiled, "Greetings Sky Gazer," She said simply, "Hello, Um where am I?" Sky Gazer asked, looking around, "Well, we pulled thou out of your dream to ask thy a question before tonight hits," "Aright, what is it?" "We need to know two things actually, One: Does the way we speak bother you?, and Two: How would you also like to learn from me personally?" Princess Luna asked sternly "Well to be honest, yes it kinda does, but I don't really care much, and yes that would be nice," Sky Gazer answered, calmly. Princess Luna nodded before Sky Gazer's vision went black. The alarm shrieked loudly as 6:30 flashed on it, Sky Gazer groaned turning over to hit the off button. She laid there for a moment, thinking about her dream. Sky Gazer pulled herself up and out of bed, but this time only brushed her hair before hurrying down into the observatory. Sky Gazer scrambled to get everything together, and out to the balcony. When 7:00 o'clock rolled around Sky Gazer was ready and already noticing the difference in the stars positions. She pulled out her ink and quill, and began tracking the stars new location. After a good 4 hours worth of the starring at the night sky, Sky Gazer had quite a few pages of stars tracking notes and maps. She sighed, she looked up at the sky making sure that the stars were no longer moving. Then she stood up ,and carried the journals to an empty shelf, placing them on their new home. Sky Gazer continued with the rest of her work until around 3:00am, when Princess Luna appeared in the observatory, Sky Gazer bowed as she approached, "May I see who you thought the stars were moving," Princess Luna asked tone slightly eager. Sky Gazer hurried over to the bookshelf, and brought Princess Luna the journals. She when presented with them wrapped a magical aura around them, and opened them examining them closely. Sky Gazer was very tense, and just to make it less awkward, she tended to other work. Princess Luna cleared her throat signaling that she was done, Sky Gazer walked over, filled with anxiety. Princess Luna had a stern face on before smiling. "Well done Sky Gazer, everything is correct, maybe alittle off by tiny amounts here, and there, but it was right," Princes Luna praised, "Really! thats a relief, I frightened there for a moment," Sky Gazer let out the breath she had be holding in. Princess Luna smiled before turning to leave, "I will be changing it again tomorrow same time, hopefully if my duties don't hang me up," Then she flew out, off the balcony. Sky Gazer screamed with excitement/happiness, and ran around a bit falling onto her bed. she sighed, "I can't believe I got them all right, I wonder what else will happen tomorrow?" And with that last major thought Sky Gazer got up, and returned to her work.
