Ages 5-9
Age 7
"Elijah wake up!" I yawn stretching my small wings.
"Five more minutes!" I try to fall asleep again.
"You do this everyday don't make me come up there!"
"Okay Mama! I'm up!" I slowly get up and slide out of bed to get ready for a brand new day. I look in the mirror to see my mane in a complete mess so I look for my comb in a mess of a room I like to call home and I found it buried under some dirty hoodies and socks.
"There it is!" I grab it and start combing my mane then I put on a blue and grey hoodie with the logo for the Manehatten Yankees my favorite hoodie.
"Hurry Elijah! Your breakfast is getting cold!" I quickly grab all my stuff and rush down stairs and sit at the kitchen table.
"I'm here!" She laughs. “What?”
"Son if it has anything to do with food you will be there in an instant." I look at her confused but I ignore it and start scarfing down the food. The stove starts to beep that means it's time for school I threw out the rest my food and ran out the door.
"Elijah! Hold it!" I stop and look at my mom.
"Yes Mama?" She puts dad's old hat on my head it covers my eyes and glasses I push it up.
"You forgot it and remember be alert and safe okay?"
"Yes mama." She gives me a hug and I run out to school. Walking to school was not much of a problem but getting there safely was a whole nother story.
"Eli!" I look behind me to see Nightlife.
"Nightlife!" I hug her and we both continue our walk to school together.
"So how's your family Eli? Dad still traveling Equestria working?"
"Yeah I wish he was home I miss him..." My hat fell over my glasses.
"I know Eli but you still have your mom and your sister." She pushes my hat up and looks at me with her usual peppy smile.
"I also have you too Nightlife." She blushes.
"I know..." She pecks me on the cheek I start to blush myself.
“So how’s your family?”
“You know the usual dad’s gone and my mom is working three jobs…”
“Wow...If you need any help just look for me okay?”
“Okay thanks Eli.” we then heard a voice call us
"Hey! You two!" We look back to see a pony with a green bandana...The Greenbacks.
"Night! Run!" We both start sprinting away from him.
"Hey! You two punks get back here!" We quickly go into a small alley that only we can fit in since we made it.
"Elijah I don't want to be shot up with the Dragon like my brother please!" She starts to cry.
"Don't worry I'm here for you okay?" She hugs me tight.
"Don't leave me."
"I promise I won't..." We both continue our walk to school and we finally arrived after minutes of paranoia.
"Elijah! Nightlife! Why are you late?!"
"Sorry Mrs.Golden Apple we were chased..."
"By whom?" Nightlife sighs and she held back tears.
"We were chased by a Greenback..." A gasp was heard through the room.
"What? You two stay in the back of the class you aren't safe you must stay low."
"Yes ma'am." We both sit in the back and I try to pay attention but I couldn't see that well I put on my glasses and everything was clear.
"Elijah I'm scared."
"It's fine." I help her hoof
"You promise?"
"I promise everything will be fine."
"Okay."
Two Years later: age 9
"Umm...Night...I have to tell you something..." I sit down in the seat next to her.
"What is it? What's wrong?"
"I have to move away..." She looked at me confused.
"Did the teacher move you?" I sigh.
"No I'm moving away from Manehatten... To Ponyville." She looked at me with disbelief.
"Why?"
"My dad wants us to..."
"Lucky."
"No! I don't want to move I want to stay with you! I hate my dad for doing it!"
"At least yours care."
"Well I'm sorry yours abandoned you!" I stop and look at her.
"Nightlife you know I don't mean that I'm sor-" she cuts me off
"Shut up." She looks away from me
"Nightlife you know I don't mean it...I'm sorry." She says nothing and ignores me.
Lunch
I sit next to Nightlife still mad at me for what I said earlier.
"I'm sorry about earlier...I shouldn't have said that about you father...I'm sorry about everything..." She starts to tear up.
"...Why? Why do you have to move? Leave me here alone..." I then hug her and cry.
"You will never be alone...I like you too much to leave you."
"Don't leave me Elijah...please..." I hug her tightly.
"I will always be with you." I break the hug and clean my and her face.
"Eli wait for me in Ponyville okay? Wait for me."
"I will always wait for you Nightlife...always."
At home
"Elijah? Do you have your stuff packed? I pulled my bag down the stairs into the main lobby.
"Yes Mama I have all my stuff." She hugs me
"Good..." A yellow and black carriage shows up and a brown and green stallion steps out of it.
"Papa!" I run to him and hug him.
"Hey Eli." He ruffles my mane.
"Aaron..." Mama kisses him.
"Eww..." The both laugh.
"Son I still see you wear my hat good."
"Yeah Papa! I look like you!" The hat falls on my face and he chuckles.
"You do son." He tips my hat up.
"So shall we head to the train station?"
"Wait!" Nightlife runs up to me and looks at me.
"Hi Nightlife." She hugs me.
"Bye Elijah...I'll miss you..." She gives me a orange and blue hoofband.
"Nightlife..." I hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek like Mama always does when she like someone.
"Bye."
"See Ya later Nightlife." We all get in the carriage and go to the train station so we can go to Ponyville to start a new life.
