THAT pony...
Ch. 1
Load Full StoryFor as long as he could remember, M had been lonely. Other ponies didn't like him, so he just kept to himself. He never had visitors, at his cabin deep in the Everfree forest. Sometimes he would go into a nearby town, to get food and other things, but he always stood out from the other ponies. They stayed away from him, they thought he was weird. They knew nothing about M, but they assumed the worst of him. He would say hi to ponies he had seen before, but they would just run away. Just because he was different, he was hated, people tried to hurt him. M never did anything wrong, but that made no difference. "Just a single friend, that would be nice." M would think often.
One day, a pony arrived, M saw him through his window. He opened the door and walked in. "Hey, I saw you in town, and you looked like you could use some kindness. So, do you want to hang out sometime?" the pony said. M replied, "Well, yeah, but I should give you fair warning first, I'm, kind of....." he drifted off. M then turned, and showed his cutie mark to the pony. The pony, who was a kind looking stallion, probably in his 20's, looked confused, then stunned, then scared. He turned around and ran out the door. M was sad, but this happened all of the time. It was to be expected. M decided to go to bed for the day.
The next day, M had to go to town to get more food. He walked out of the forest, and saw the edge pf the town. He remembered that the town was called Ponyville. M finally reached the town, and headed to the local bakery. It was a few minutes to walk, and M was scared. Everypony stayed at least three meters away from him. M saw the stallion he met yesterday. M tried a slight wave, but the stallion just backed into a nearby house. On the inside, M was breaking down and sobbing, he just wanted a friend, but was hated for no reason, other than his appearance. But he knew that showing these emotions was only going to get him more hatred. If only he were a pegasus, then he could fly right over these unkind ponies. Or if he were a unicorn, he could teleport past them. But no, he suffered the cruel curse of being an earth pony.
Finally, there it was, the bakery that he usually visited, Sugar Cube Corner. In there he saw the closest thing he had to a friend. It was a pink mare, with a poofy, cotton candy mane. She was friends with almost everyone. "Oh, um hi, M....", she said. M walked up to the counter, "Could I get my usual?", M asked, and the pink pony replied, "Yeah, uh sure M, I'll just be a minute.".
M sat down at a table, waiting. That was the only thing that he got from his hatred, he never lacked a seat. M just wanted his muffins and bread, then he could go home, but it would require a few minutes of waiting. M was bored, and couldn't wait to get home. "If only I could have been a normal pony, I wonder what it's like?" He thought. M was born this way, and wished he weren't so hated.
Suddenly, he heard a quiet, "Order up M.", and walked up to the counter. He took the bag, and left a few bits, leaving the bakery. He began walking, a little faster than he had been going on the way there, hoping to get home soon. He saw a strange sight, a group of three ponies walking towards him. One was a dark blue stallion, another, also a stallion, was a light green. The third of the trio was a tan mare, at the head of the group. "Hey, you, what's your name?" asked the green stallion. "Oh, just call me M." M said, then the mare said, "So it IS you, we heard about you, and are planning to do some, community service.". She hit M in the face with her front hoof, and M fell on the ground. The trio began beating on him viciously. He felt so much pain, these ponies were in it to make him suffer. Suddenly, he heard a strange sound from the crowd that had surrounded them. "Are they calling them off, trying to save me?" he wondered. Soon, he discerned the true identity of the sound. "No, they're cheering, they're cheering them on, they like seeing me being beaten.", M realized. The pain was unimaginable, and the crowd began throwing objects for the trio to use. The three began hitting him with chairs, pipes, pots, and wooden planks. M soon couldn't handle the pain, and blacked out.
When he awoke, he was covered in his own blood. He opened his eyes, and saw he was still in the street, lying there, he felt his limbs were damaged badly, but not broken. He stumbled to his hooves, and began walking towards home. He didn't pay attention to the ponies around him. Each step hurt, but he needed to get home. A few hours later, he arrived back at his cottage. Once inside, he realized someone had stolen his food, probably one of the trio. He could go a few more days before he had to go back to town, and he would use every day he didn't have to go.
The next day, another pony arrived at his cottage. She was a mare, probably twenty-six or twenty-seven, and had a deep green-blue mane. She looked nice, so M let her in. "Hi, I saw what happened yesterday, and I grabbed the bag so that it wouldn't get stolen.
"Nopony has the right to do something so horrible to anypony else." she said, setting the bag on a table.
"Oh, it's alright, I deal with things like that rather often." M replied
"WHAT? That's horrible. But, anyways, I heard you called yourself M?" the mare stated.
"Yeah, that's what I go by nowadays." M said.
"So, would you mind telling me your real name, because I think I'd like to be your friend." the mare inquired.
"Well, you've been so nice, so I suppose I should be honest with you. My full name is, well, Mature" M said, showing his
cutie mark, a large red 'mature' to her.
"AHHHHHHHH! STAY AWAY FROM ME FREAK! DON'T COME NEAR ME!" she shouted, then sprinted out of the
cottage.
"No! Wait! It's not my fault! My creater made me this way! Please don't leave!" he called, through tears. The mare kept running, and eventually was out of sight. M sat down on his bed, weeping. "Why, why did I have to be mad this way. Nopony cares who I am, I might be a great pony, but they all run!" He cried. "WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY wHY wHY wHY whY whY whY why,.. why... why." M sobbed his voice trailing off into the distance. He would truely be alone... forever.
