Two tragic accidents changed the lives of two ponies forever. A failed spell caused a unicorn's horn to blow off, and a selfless attempt to save another's life left a pegasus with only one wing.

After the accidents took place, these two lost much more than just their birth privileges. Their entire lives turned for the worst, leaving both of them braving the streets of Ponyville with sad frowns and a depressing aura.

Many tried to help, to talk to them in hopes that they could make them smile again, but to no avail. Eventually, the other ponies of Ponyville figured that the best pony suited for the job of cheering up one that has lost his birth privilege would be the same kind of pony.
