Creature of the Everfreeby PhoelynFabulousChaptersFightingSurvivingRunningFightingThunder boomed above. A flash of lightning went across the sky, trying to be scarier than the monsters in the Everfree. The filly knew it was failing. It had started to rain about an hour ago, and she was getting soaked. Her galloping began to slow to a canter, then down to a trot. She was deep enough in the forest for nopony to follow her. Eventually, her pushing back her feelings began to fail, and she almost passed out due to lack of sleep and running for what seemed like hours. She sat down, and breathed deeply, think about what she had done. She was free! She had run away from her mother and father, and the school full of bullies and no friends! She was shocked, excited, scared, so many different emotions raging inside her. Instead of trying to think about it, she tried to sleep. Her sleep attempt was interrupted by a loud roar and a terrible smell. She was instantly alert and ready to defend herself. "Show yourself! I have more power than you may think, stupid predator!" she called out into the forest. Another roar, followed by a growl. Two. Coming closer. She let out a roar of her own, a sound a pony shouldn't be able to make. Another reason to be called a monster by her classmates and parents. The predators were silent for a while, possibly wondering if they should continue the attack. She wouldn't let her guard down, though. She waited for them to come. She knew they would. Suddenly, three wolf-like creatures jumped out of the bushes roaring, their breath smelling worse up close. One of the strange wooden wolves bit down on the filly's leg, and she yelped in pain, only for the bulb on her tail to light up green, filling the wolf with the light. The wolf exploded from the spell she cast, splinters and twigs flying everywhere. Her magic then created a shield for her, and a very highly dangerous one to touch. She knew this from an "incident" at school. "Don't be stupid! Run away, puppy dogs!" she taunted. The wooden wolves circled the shield. She knew they would leap at her, and she knew what would happen because of it. She smiled, calling "Don't be afraid, puppies! You will never learn if you don't attack, but you might be safer if you don't!" The wolves were circling slower, wondering whether they should turn back again. She knew, because she had mind-reading and telepathy powers. She didn't use it often though, for her mother and teacher told her not to. Leap at me. Attack. She said into their minds, scaring them slightly, but they seemed to follow the false command. They leapt at her and the forcefield, and disintegrated with contact. The filly giggled, and lowered the shield. "Stupid dogs." She stepped forward, and was met with terrible pain. She yelped again, and looked down at her left back leg. She had totally forgotten about the bite from the wooden wolf, so much that she couldn't feel it during the rest of the battle. "Crap... I need to wash it and bandage it..." she said to herself. Since it was still raining, the "cleaning it out" part would be easy. She was even near a small lake. She took a long, wet leaf from a tree and wrapped it around her leg. She didn't really need to clean it out, since she was immune to infections or diseases of any kind, but it helped her feel better to clean it. She can be the cure for life if you give her to us. YES! I never wanted that stupid foal anyway! She shivered, and it wasn't from the cold rain. SurvivingAuthor's Note The final chapter in Creature of the Everfree! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Surviving She woke up hungry and cold. The filly had found an umbrella-like leaf to lay under in protection of the rain, which had stopped sometime in the night. She also slept with her disintegrating shield on, in case any monsters tried to attack her. They must have know about the wooden wolf's defeat, because no monster came. She groaned, and rubbed her stomach. She hadn't quite thought about what she would eat in the forest, though she did know that she had more options being an omnivore. Yet another reason to be called a monster. Ponies are herbivores. She got up, and searched for anything to eat. She could also eat poisonous things, since she was immune to them. She learned that when a bully attempted a prank involving poison joke in her salad. When she was never affected, the bully told everyone, making her even more of a freak. She trotted over to a black flower with dark green tipped petals, and sniffed it. She had never sniffed anything that smelled better. She assumed it was a poisonous flower, considering it's colors and scent-trap, and ate it anyway. It wasn't very filling, but it also didn't kill her, which proved further that she was immune to all poison. The cure for all poisons, infections, diseases, and more come from this filly. Being immune to poison of all kinds will save ponykind from anything poisonous, venomous, infection... The cure for life depends on you giving this filly to us for science. She was suddenly very glad she had chosen to jump out that window. After a long walk through the forest, she had harvested enough plants to be a breakfast. She had walked back to her umbrella-leaf and prepared to eat, when suddenly, a strange sound filled her ears. It was almost like a purr, but like a bug buzzing at the same time. She looked down, and saw a small bug-like creature staring at her food. It was like a ball with big bug eyes and dragonfly wings. Hello? she spoke into it's mind to make sure it understood her. She read it's mind, so she could understand it as well. Fooooood, food food. Hello. I want that food. Please let me have the food. Foooooooooood. Food. I'm cute, so you need to give me the food. Food food food food. Friends. Friends from food. Give me the food. Please? She listened to the strange bug. She realized that this bug did not care about her. It wanted her harvest that it took an hour to get in the first place. No, I need this food. Please go away. The bug flew up to her and made an adorable face. Please... please, I need food. Food for friends, food for me. Fooood? it said in a pleading tone. "No. I will not give you my harvest. Fly away or YOU will join it." She said out loud carelessly. I'm POISONOUS! You can't eat me! Please don't eat me! I just want some food... "Fly. Away." The bug finally flew away, scared that she would actually eat it. She ate the food she had gathered up, and then began a little project she was planning. She did not want to live under a leaf, so she would build a house in the forest. She gathered twigs and sticks and grass, and after multiple hours, when Celestia began to set the sun, she had finished a little shack, using her umbrella leaf as the roof material. She finally walked into her new home, and decided something. Her mother had never given her a name. Never. So, the filly got sick of calling herself, "me" as her name. So, she finally decided what she would call herself forever. Her name... Was Everfree. RunningAuthor's Note My first story! Here we go! I hope you all will enjoy the first chapter/prolouge of Creature of the Everfree! Running MONSTER! CREATURE! NIGHTMARE! The filly had these insults forced into her mind, burned into her brain, to where they could never be erased. Even then, the insults stuck in her skull didn't keep her from galloping deeper into the forest. DEMON! PET OF NIGHTMARES! EVIL! She kept on tripping and stumbling on roots, but she never lost her speed. She needed to run to the heart of the forest. Nopony dared to follow her there. Nopony has come out alive from the deepest parts of the Everfree. The cure for all poisons, infections, diseases, and more come from this filly. Being immune to poison of all kinds will save ponykind from anything poisonous, venomous, infection... The cure for life depends on you giving this filly to us for science. She cringed as she remembered this. She was truly a creature, nothing near a filly. Pony shaped, with a long tail like a cat with a strange blob of flesh at the end that lit up when she performed her special magic. Her "wings", that were more like flaps of skin with bones inside than wings, and finally, her lack of a coat or mane. She had no fur, and skin that was the color black. She truly was a monster of the Everfree, wasn't she? YES! I never truly wanted this stupid foal! Take it and do what you want! She almost stumbled over, remembering her mother's response to the request. It was then that she screamed and jumped out the window. She fled to the forest, hoping to find no other pony again. The very sad thing, was that the Everfree Forest, the place of truly terrible monsters and the place where many ponies never came back out alive, was safer than her own home for the filly. The poor thing didn't even have a name.
