1: I Didn't Know Creepers Could Do That
It seemed like it was only a few seconds before morning hit. I had just laid down in bed and closed my eyes, and now all of a sudden I'm blinded by the sun shining into my eyes from my window. I rose up from my bed and stretched my blocky arms and legs before sitting down and enjoying some pork chops for breakfast. I really had no idea was in store for me that day, and I don't think even if you told me what was going to happen I'd believe it.
Before I continue with my story, let me explain some things. My name is Steve, and I'm the only one of my kind in a world I've come to dub, "Minecraftia." As it's name implies, that's really all I do here; mining and crafting. My life isn't exactly as peachy as it sounds, the first problem isn't the loneliness as one might think, it's the monsters. I'm not sure how it works, but wherever it's dark, monsters begin to take shape. The first and most easiest to deal with would be the common zombie. They're fairly stupid and easy to just beat with a sword. Next up would be a giant spider, they're such a pain to deal with. These tricky guys can climb walls and jump at me and take a bit more effort to kill. Then of course there's the skeletons who have somehow managed to learn how to use a bow and arrow. Finally, we have the creeper. They're mutated little buggers who like to internally detonate whenever they get too close to me. You might be asking yourself, "Gee, Steve, why are you boring us with your personal problems? We're not psychiatrists." Well, you see, it's those monsters that have gotten me into this mess. Now, let's continue with my story.
After I finished my pork chop I took an iron pickaxe and iron sword with me down into the mines, searching for diamonds and other rare ores. Something was strange though, none of the torches I've placed down seemed to be there, and it was making things hard to see. As I traversed deeper into the cave I heard the rattling of bones behind me and an arrow whizzed right by my head. I froze up for a brief moment as the breeze from the projectile hit my face, and then turned around to face my attacker (or to be more correct, attackers). To my surprise there were five skeletons looking back at me, and something was very wrong. They were no longer doing their usually "all-over-the-place" type tactics and were actually in a v-formation. They were even preparing to fire in unison, almost like clockwork. I turned back around and sprinted down further into the mine, there wasn't a whole lot of time to question their new found intelligence. I kept on running until I couldn't hear them anymore and when I finally couldn't, I ducked behind a wooden column to catch my breath. "What just happened?" I said aloud to no one in particular. Just then, I regretted speaking, because a small group/herd/flock/whatever-the-name-of-a-group-of-spiders-is had heard me. Their ringleader hissed and directed his party in my direction. They gained in speed as they saw me sitting there, so I got up and drew my sword from my back and took a defensive stance. The first of the spiders jumped up only to be met with the sharp end of an iron blade. It magically flashed red and it's power went into me in the form of orbs. That may seem like an odd experience to you, but that's actually quite normal where I'm from. Anyway, I fought off the spiders to the best of my abilities but my sword couldn't take that much abuse, because after the third or fourth spider, my blade began to crack. So I shoved away the arachnid that was trying to have me for lunch and ran off again.
It seemed like all I had been doing for hours was running until finally I reached a dead end. But this was strange as well, because right in front of me, was a chest I have no memory of building or even placing there. It had an intricate, bright, yet cartoonish design on it. I opened it up and inside it was just a single orb. I picked it up and noticed that the orb depicted some kind of figure or animal. I stared at it for a good five or so minutes before I was able to see that it somehow resembled a pony. What was really strange though, was the the thing it was depicting wasn't just etched into this thing, it seemed to somehow resonate from inside it, like some kind of magic. I slipped the orb into my pocket and began to see if it was safe to head back up to the surface. I looked to see a zombie and a creeper approaching me at more than their usual speeds. I swung my sword at the zombie only to have it break as the zombie used his own decaying arm to shove me to the floor. I heard the creeper begin to hiss, signalling his explosion. So I just closed my eyes and accepted my fate, I was so sure about how that was going to be how everything ended for me, but something strange happened. I didn't hear or feel any kind of explosion, instead, through my eyelids I saw a bright light and then it just suddenly went out, like it was never there. I sat there for a moment, wondering if I was dreaming or not. When I opened my eyes to see that I was in a bed, only it wasn't mine.
I sat up and looked around for a moment, looking at the room that surrounded me and the bed I was sleeping in. Everything seemed cartoonish like the chest I had seen earlier, and there was a painting of a pony hung on the wall. It had a smile on it's face as it's blue and pink mane flowed behind it in front of a castle. Below the painting there was a small plaque that read, "Princess Celestia." Before I could get out of bed to take a closer look at things, something opened the door and interrupted me. It was a pony in what seemed to be...a suit of armor? Then the pony began to talk to me, in MY language, even. he said, "Excuse me, sir, but if you'd please come with me. The Princess wishes to see you." I rubbed my eyes and looked again, just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. He actually talked to me, these ponies appear to be capable of language, and what are the chances of it being the one I use?
"Uh...sure I guess." I replied as I got up from the comfortable bed. I walked through the door and closed it behind me as I followed the armored stallion into a large throne room that was brightly lit. There seemed to be decorated windows that depicted ponies defeating strange beasts with what looked like 6 different gems and such. I followed the red carpet up to a large throne seat to see an extremely large pony with flowing hair. She appeared to be the same pony in the painting that was in the room he awoke in. So this was Princess Celestia? As he got closer, the guard he was following stopped at the side of the carpet and pointed for me to walk towards the princess a little more. I approached her a little while longer and then stopped, taking a bow out of a sign of respect, she was a princess after all. She spoke to me with a calm yet somehow demanding voice.
"You, sir. Who, and what, are you?" I scratched my head for a moment, as I normally don't get asked WHAT I am, and I had no idea how to answer that, so I tried to answer as best as I could.
"Me? My name is Steve, and I hail from the land of Minecraftia. As I am the only one of my kind, I guess I could label myself, a Minecraftian." She seemed a little surprised by my answer. I don't think she really understood that I wasn't sure about my race. All the same though, she nodded her head and responded in that same voice,
"Well Steve, my guards found you unconscious in front of the castle and asked that you be brought inside, because you looked like you were in bad shape. We thought that you might be some kind of lost animal from the Everfree forest but we noticed that you were mumbling in your sleep in our language, which meant that you were more then some animal. So, let me ask another question, how did you get here?" I thought back for a moment, trying to remember exactly what happened that sent me to this strange place.
"You see, I'm not quite sure myself. I was being attacked by monsters, and just when I thought I was going to be killed, I woke up in the bed you all put me in. That's really all I remember happening." All she did was respond with a hm and she began to think for a little bit. Then she began asking to know more things about me, and then after all that was done, she began telling me about the place that I was in.
"You are in the land of Equestria, a magical and harmonious place where ponies get along with one another and live by the Elements of Harmony; the six gems depicted in the windows. Where you are right now exactly, is Canterlot, the capitol of Equestria and where this castle resides. I think this might be an extreme amount different then the kind of world your used to." She just starred at me for a moment before she continued with her little infomercial. "You look very tired, Steve. I think it's best that I have one of my guards escort you back to one of the guest rooms so you can rest and take in what's happening." I nodded and Celestia motioned for one of her armored guards to show me the way. He pointed to a room and motioned me inside. As I walked in he told me that I only needed to call if I needed anything from them, I told him I was fine for now and he closed the door. I sat down on the bed and began to wonder to myself, Completely different from my own world? Will there be no more mining? No more crafting? No more monsters to slay?
I wasn't so sure that I would ever be able to get used to this idea of a "different world."
2: Why Are The Blocks Gone?
I really don't know what to do anymore. No matter how much I think about it, I don't know how I'll fit in among a world of talking ponies. It really doesn't make any sense how I got here in the first place. Maybe if I just retrace my steps? Okay, I was chased by skeletons, i fought off some spiders, found a stupid orb, and got att- wait, that's it, the orb! I believe that the orb was the thing that brought me here. Maybe it's still in my pocket? I checked my pocket and found that no such orb was there, and I began to panic a little. I wasn't sure why I did, maybe it was because something told me that orb was going to be the only way home. By now I've come to realize that there is no way in the Nether I am ever getting home. I hung my head low and stared at my legs in a bout of depression.
About thirty minutes later was when another armored pony knocked on the door and let himself in, stating that the Princess requested my presence in the throne room again. I got up off the bed and slowly nodded my head, following him. Once again I was in the majestic room where the princess is. I looked up to her and once again gave another bow; which is still kind of awkward due to my blockish body. I rose back up as she cleared her throat, "Steve, after a bit of thought I've decided what I'm going to do with you." I cocked my head to the side, unsure of what she was going to say next. "I think you should get situated here in Equestria. If I'm to believe what you've told me, this place is all new to you. So, I'm going to have you live in one of the towns here." I raised my hand up to object her, but she cut me off. "No, I'm not just going to throw you out there without at least a little assistance. I'm going to send you to live with mine own favorite pupil, Twilight Sparkle. She will help you discover the wonders of Friendship and help you adjust yourself to your new surroundings." She continued talking and told me about where I was going to live, Ponyville. She then told me that I had about an hour before a train would arrive to talk me there (I assumed that was some sort of mine cart in this world). "I'm going to give you a little time to explore the castle and talk to a few of the ponies here before you leave for Ponyville." She smiles at me and a pony escorts me to my room and tells me about where some of the places are in Canterlot and how to get there, I thank him and he leaves the room.
With a few hours to myself, the first thing I want to do is stroll around the castle and maybe the Canterlot Gardens after that. I look around at all the intricate detail put into the walls and ground. I myself have built many a castle, but nothing as so detailed as this one. I thought to myself for a moment, Maybe it's because of the lack of it being made of blo- I cut myself off, realizing something very, VERY, important. This world isn't made of the usual blocks, in fact, there wasn't a single cube as far as I could see. Everything was so round and strange to me. I couldn't believe I didn't notice any of this sooner! I looked at myself and then the castle walls around me, and I realized that I probably stuck out like a Ghast in the Nether (I would say thumb, but everyone seems to have a severe lack of those here). That just made me even more depressed about how I probably wont ever be returning to my home. I'll never see the square sun, the pigs, the cows, and the derpy sheep again. I tried to shake off that thought and try to admire the beauty of what was around me, but I still couldn't help but keep trailing back to it.
I finally made my way to the gardens and looked around, seeing what kind of wildlife would be hanging around here. Maybe it couldn't be too much different than back home. You know, aside from not being made of cubes. As it turns out I was actually pretty wrong, as I got down there I saw all kinds of different animals. They were all so diverse and pretty to look at that I found myself just looking at them with my mouth open in awe. After a little while one of the guard ponies approach me, but his armor was different than the rest, it looked more fancy and had some sort of purple sparkle on it. His mane was also blue with light blue streaks going down it. "Hey there," he said. "You really are different aren't you?" I just look at him for a moment, deciding whether or not to be insulted by that comment about difference.
"Yeah, I am. My name's Steve and I pretty come from another world from you." Subtle...real subtle. The pony just laughed at my comment and he started talking again,
"Well then, My name is Shining Armor and the Princess has asked me to watch over you until you leave for Ponyville to see if you pose some kind of threat to us ponies. Don't be offended, it's just a precaution." I could see why they would do something like that, I mean, they've only just met me and they've never really seen anything like me before. We walked around for a little bit, and Shining would point out different kinds of animals for me, telling me about them as best as he could. After a bit of that he started to take me over to a spot in the castle where you could almost see all of Equestria. While we were walking he asked me, "Hey," he began, "What was it like, back in your world. I heard from the princess you were the only one of your kind." I sighed, having to think about Minecraftia again really got me homesick.
"Well, to be perfectly honest. I pretty much did everything, I build towns from scratch with no one to live in them, and I defeated deadly monsters to gather resources I needed to survive. Also, I'm not exactly the ONLY one of my kind." Shining raised an eyebrow at me.
"You're not?" He asked.
"Not exactly. You see, there is ONE other. His name is Herobrine and I've only ever seen him once. He looks almost exactly like me, but his eyes are just white and he can move extremely fast. He's also got some very strange evil powers he uses to control the world and everything in it. I didn't think I'd come back alive from my single encounter with him." Shining let out a small gasp at this little tidbit of information.
"Wow, it really seems like you come from a pretty dangerous place. You'll find that things aren't nearly as intense as things sound like they are where you're from." That sounded sort of like a relief for me. There wouldn't be a whole lot of needless fighting, and I guess that would be one of the few good things of ending up here. We got up to the balcony and Shining told me to take a look around, and what I saw was absolutely amazing. The view was just breathtaking. I saw little towns and bustling cities, and I even saw one up in the clouds. The hills looked really green and the midday lighting tone just made everything that much more beautiful.
About twenty passed of me and Shining seeing some sights and getting to know each other a little. Then I looked up at a clock and realized that I should probably get moving to the train before it leaves for Ponyville. I asked Shining Armor how to get to the train before bidding him goodbye. Before I could leave though, he handed me some gold coins and told me they were called Bits and that they were the currency here and that it was enough to let me ride the train. I thanked him and began on my way. I was sprinting through Canterlot, with all the ponies looking at me and giving me strange looks. Some ponies even ran or flew away from me once they looked at me. I don't blame them though, I'm not normal to them. All I really want to do is go home...but I have to go to Ponyville. I got to the train just before they were going to leave and handed the bits Shining gave me to the unicorn in front of the door. She opened up the door and ushered me inside and told me to take a seat.
I sat down as instructed and stared outside of the window, gazing at the landscape. I wonder what's in store for me in Ponyville, and who exactly is Twilight Sparkle?
A pony walked into the car I was sitting in and let me know that I had thirty minutes until we arrived at Ponyville. I thanked him and he walked into another car to alert the others in there of the arrival time. I sat up and began pacing inside the small confined vehicle. I was getting really nervous, yet I was kind of excited at the same time. It wasn't often that I get to talk to anyone other than a few Testificates holed up in their small villages (Trust me, conversations with a creeper tend to end very abruptly). There was also the chance that everyone there will think of me like I'm some kind of freak and force me out of town to live on my own again.
The more I thought about it, the more agitating it became, So I simply decided to drop the subject and look out the window to check if I could see Ponyville from here. Looking out at the green landscape once again I notice a few buildings in the distance; all different sizes and styles. A little further than the buildings I noticed some kind of ominous forest kind of curved around the little town. I figured that it's probably extremely dangerous in there, but that's just me judging from my own world experiences. I'm not entirely sure how things work here just yet. As the train begins to draw nearer and nearer toward the town, I begin thinking about my reception. Who's Twilight Sparkle? How am I supposed to find her? Is she supposed to find me? What if she hates me? What if- I shook my head as hard as I could, trying to shake the questions off in a way. I sat back down and closed my eyes for a bit, trying to clear my head and retain a calm posture.
I jerked my eyes back open when something tapped my arm and I immediately turned to see what it was. What I saw before me was a purple pony with a small reptilian creature next to her, a dragon maybe? She looked up at me and cleared her throat, "Excuse me, but would you happen to be Steve?" I sat still for a moment, trying to figure out what was going on and how she knew my name. It came to me that this is probably Twilight, and that she's just trying to pick me up. I didn't feel like speaking at this point and simply nodded my head. "My name is Twilight Sparkle and this is my number one dragon assistant Spike." She points her hoof at the scaled creature next to her and then continues talking, "The princess has told us all about your situation and has asked me to take care of you while you stay here in Equestria." I nodded my head again in recognition. "Well then, let's get on our way. I'll show you where you'll be staying and we can discuss a little bit about where you came from!" She smiled a ridiculous looking smile and added, "I have some many questions I want to ask you!"
Getting to my feet, I slowly staggered towards the door. It seems as if I fell asleep for a short bit while trying to clear my mind. Twilight came out after me and began to lead the way down the small dirt road. All the buildings around me looked almost as pretty as the castle in Canterlot did, they just had their own different style to them. "Wow, this is way better than anything the Testificates ever built." I said out loud to no one in particular. Twilight looked over at my while she kept walking.
"Testi- what now?" She said, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head and shrugged in response and she stared at me for a little longer before looking back to the path in front of her. After some more awkward silence'd walking we eventually reached a large tree. Well, at first it looked like a tree, but then I saw it had doors, windows, and even a balcony! It was a nice little house made inside of a large tree. I've never thought that trees could get so big you could carve them into homes. Twilight stopped in front of the door and turned to face me. Her assistant, Spike, just opened the door and went inside. "This is where I live, the library. As you may have noticed, it's made from a tree-" She stopped herself for a moment. "Oh, do you have trees where you come from?" I... did the square equivalent of rolling my eyes and told her that I did in fact have trees, otherwise I wouldn't be able to survive. She then explained a bit more about the library and some books I should read. I really didn't care too much about the details, I don't read much other than basic sign reading. She then lead me inside and sent Spike to get some water for me and her.
"So," Twilight began, "Tell me about yourself, and where you come from. I wanna know everything!" She smiled that same goofy smile again which made me want to smile.
"Where do I begin...?" I thought for a moment, trying to decide what to start talking about first. There were a lot of things I could do, but I might as well start with the wildlife. "Well, in Minecraftia, we have a bunch of animals and the sort-" Twilight cut me off before I could continue.
"Are there many ponies where you come from? What are their names, what do they look like?" Wait a second, there AREN'T any ponies where I come from, AT ALL. How was I able to identify these ponies without ever seeing one before? I was confused, it didn't make any sense how I was able to identify all these strange things without ever having any contact with them beforehand?
"Actually, there aren't any ponies. I'm not even quite sure myself how I even know what a pony is." Twilight cocked her head to the side and responded questioningly,
"That's really weird. So, how did you even get here then?" That was an odd jump of subject, yet in her head it seems that they have something in common; animals and teleportation.
"I found an orb with an image of a pony inside it from a chest. Then I got attacked by a monster and I just kind of woke up inside Canterlot Castle." She gasped when I said monster.
"A monster, what kind of monster?" Twilight exclaimed. She seems way too excited to be inquiring about a dangerous monster like a Creeper.
"Well, what attacked me is what I call a Creeper. There these green things that walk on four tiny feet, and they're a bit shorter than I am. If they get too close to you, they hiss and explode, destroying everything around them." I sighed and just barely realized how tired I was. Everything that's happened today has been so exhausting, I don't feel like answering anymore questions. "So, Twilight?" I asked.
"Yes, what is it?" She replied as Spike finally came back with the glasses of water. He handed one to Twilight and the other to me. I took a quick drink before continuing,
"Well, I'm really tired right now, and I was wondering if I could get some rest before we continued our little question and answer session. Is there somewhere I can sleep?" Twilight frowned, but them smiled again as she pointed to a bed in the main room with her hoof.
"Yes, just over there is a bed that I think will work for you. You're only a little taller than we are, so it shouldn't be that uncomfortable. If it is though, let me know." I thanked her and made my way over to the little bed. Strange, it was almost the exact same size as the beds I made back in Minecraftia. Twilight called for Spike to follow her upstairs and the two left the room.
I opened my eyes, but it was only night outside. Something wasn't right here so I stood up and made my way to the front door and opened it. Before me stood a familiar green and black figure with a permanent frown plastered on his face, and it wasn't long before he began to hiss.
Well... that's a darn-it.

4: Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Nether
"OH SON OF A SKELETON LOVER!" I shouted as I immediately jumped backwards, ducking behind a table with some sort of horse head statue sitting on top of it. Thankfully, the creeper must've noticed me get out of range and cancelled it's attack. I peered from behind the table and saw it still standing there, frowning. Under normal circumstances, I'd just run and get a blade to combat the living green death machine, but there was a slight problem. As far as I know, libraries in pony worlds don't carry any kind of sword. I ran upstairs to go get Twilight, maybe she knew what to do. I stopped at the foot of her bed and a thought crossed my mind, Wait... how is that creeper here? I thought the Princess assured me that nothing like that existed here. Well, maybe not in those words, but she said things were different here. Did I bring it here? I shoved the though to the back of my mind and called out to the purple unicorn, telling her to get up, and quick.
"Eh... what? What is it Steve?" Twilight groggily lifted her head and stepped out of her bed, yawning.
"We have a slight problem downstairs. Before I go any further, let me ask you something." I cleared my throat and Twilight nodded for me to continue, "Do you, by some small chance, have creepers here in your world?" Twilight looked back at me quizzically.
"Do we have a what?" She squinted her eyes her eyes and it looked like she was trying to think of what a creeper was. I sighed and put my hand on my forehead for a moment.
"That's what I thought. Well you see, creepers in my world are this small green creatures that appear to be pretty harmless, but if you get too close to them, they'll explode. The problem is that one of those creepers appears to be lurking right outside of your door." Twilight went wide-eyed.
"WHAAAT?" She yelled. Shortly thereafter she dashed down the stairs in a panic and began to run towards the direction of the front door. I ran down after her and screamed for her to stop, that it would explode if she got to close and blow the entire front end of the library apart. She stopped and looked at me just before reaching the range of the creeper who still waited for someone foolish enough to get close. "Then, what do we do?" Twilight must've got an idea in her head and she bounced into the air in somewhat of an excitement, "Wait! Maybe one of my books can-" I cut her off with the wave of my hand.
"No. I already know how to deal with this, and it's not going to be pretty. We'll have to kill it." This statement stirred a gasp from Twilight.
"We don't have to resort to that, maybe we can reach some sort of peaceful resolution, or we can coerce it into leaving?" I shook my head slowly and let it lower in a small bout of sadness.
"I wish that I could do something like that for you, but it's not going to work. You see, it's only purpose in life as far as it knows, is to kill itself, to kill others. If you got anywhere close to that thing, it would blow you up before you could introduce yourself. It's not really something I take pride in doing, but sometimes it has to be done." Twilight opened her mouth to try to plead again, but she just turned away from me instead. I moved in front of her and lowered myself a little bit to get on eye level with her, even though not even knowing the laws of this world I was still very sure that killing things was probably considered an extremely horrific act, so I wanted to try and at least reassure the fact that I had to, or else some other person or many people would end up dead. "Listen, Twilight. I really don't want to do this anymore than you do." Twilight frowned at me, probably not believing me as well, "With how that thing is, though, I have to get rid of it before it hurts someone else. If I don't, it'll probably go find some poor defenseless pony, and... well, explode. I've got to do this to protect you, and anyone else who might get hurt with that." I wasn't exactly sure why I felt the need to justify myself to someone I didn't even know all that well, it was pretty strange how I deemed it necessary. Twilight's frown slightly dissipated and she began to speak back.
"A-Alright... So, how do we... uhm..." She trailed off, wanting to avoid the word I used so freely, almost as if it was nothing. For a short moment it made me feel slightly disappointed in myself, like I was no better than Herobrine.
"All I need is a sword and I can do the rest. I'm pretty sure there aren't any here, so it looks like I'll have to make one." I looked around, maybe some spare materials were just floating around.
I was hoping too much, it seemed. It looks like there was nothing to be found other than books. Then, I got an idea. This is a house inside of a TREE. Maybe I could use some of the wood to craft a wooden blade? "Twilight?" I looked over at her, as she was still standing there, unsure of what to do.
"Yeah..?" She replied, it seemed there was a tone of disappointment in her voice.
"This may sound a little weird to you, but, can I borrow a part of your wall? You see, I can turn it into a makeshift sword and be able to use it."
"It's... worth a shot... but I'm going to tell you that I still don't approve of this." She looked away from me, and it made me feel even worse. If you asked me why it did, I wouldn't be able to tell you. For some reason it seems I really like Twilight despite not even knowing her for at least a full day. I guess that's kind of what happens when you finally meet someone who's on par or even of a higher level intelligence than you. The Testificates weren't really all that bright.
"Me neither." I quietly said as approached what I hoped was a thick wall. I took and deep breath and began to punch it with my bare fist. This is how it always works, if you have a problem, you just have to punch it or hit it with the appropriate tool to take care of things. Much to my surprise only a small bit of the wall came off and an entire block of pinewood was in my hand. It seems like the wood translated from this world into mine own for my use. I was glad it did, otherwise I would've hat to take on that creeper weaponless. I knocked off another piece of the wall with my hand then began to fashion them into planks. While I did this, I noticed Twilight was watching me with wonder in her eyes. She was unsure how I was able to retrieve perfectly square blocks out with just my hands, let alone make planks. Once I finished putting the wood into a workable shape, Twilight looked over and spoke aloud to no one in particular,
"He turned just two blocks into 8 sets of planks, with each set being practically the same size as the original block... that's just not physically possible." It seemed like she was getting lost in thought as I began to set up a small workbench using four of my new planks. I then took two other planks and set them on the table, I pounded them with my fist until I reduced them into nothing more than sticks. All the while Twilight forgot about the situation and just kept on watching me probably defy most of her laws of physics with my bare hands.
Finally, it was finished, I took from the table my newly finished blade and lifted it into the air triumphantly, However, the feeling was very short lived as I saw Twilight's face change as she realized what I was about to do. I looked over at the door and noticed that the creeper was still looking inside, not budging. That had to be the most patient monster I have ever seen. A part of me wished that it had left so I wouldn't be doing this, but that didn't matter now. I crouched down behind the door and braced myself for possibly an epic battle. It was extremely hard to beat something with a wood sword. Hard, but not impossible. I took one final breath before throwing the door open and in turn throwing myself on top of the creature and began to swing away. As it began to hiss I thrust my sword as hard as I could into it's face and thankfully caused the creeper to turn red and vanish in a puff of smoke.
The orbs that come out of monsters like creepers give me their memories and experience. That knowledge is what enables me to preform some enchantment magic on tools and armor. I say this because what I learned from those orbs was entirely different from what I normally get. Normally, when I slay a monster, I'll get memories of it suddenly appearing with only the intent of hunting me down, this one had that thought and that action, but something was different. This creeper was scared, and it was also trying to hide from something. It had partial images of me in it's memories, but i just had blank white eyes. Herobrine was here, and he brought the monsters with him. I turned behind me to look at Twilight, who had her eyes closed tight and she was turned facing to the left. "Twilight..." I said, standing back up and walking over to her. "There's a big problem, very big."
"What is it now?" She asked, still reluctant to open up her eyes.
"When I said I'm the only one of my kind, I sort of lied. You see, there is one other." Twilight finally opened her eyes and slowly blinked for a moment before turning to look me in the face.
"You lied? Who else is there?" I took in a deep breath before continuing.
"His name is Herobrine, and he's sort of like my twin. He looks exactly like me, except his eyes are just pure white, almost like he was blind. I would like to say he's just like me, but he's not. He's got completely unexplainable, world-altering powers that he only uses to harm others, and pull small pranks. Everything he does is either extremely evil, or meant to unnerve you and drive you into insanity at some point. If what I've learned from the creeper is true, than that means he's somehow found a way into Equestria probably the same way I did." Twilight went wide-eyed again.
"Then we must tell the Princess, she'll know what to do!" I thought for a moment,
"Are there any trains leaving for Canterlot this late at night?" Twilight let out a small chuckle.
"No, silly. I can always just send a letter. SPIKE!" She called, and a small groan was heard from upstairs. Just a little while later, and the baby dragon slowly stomped down the stairs with bags under his eyes.
"What is it, Twi?" He asked, sounding like he could just fall back asleep mid sentence. Twilight quickly levitated a small piece of parchment and began scrawling something really fast on it before quickly rolling and tying it up.
"I need you to send this letter to Princess Celestia right away, it's extremely important that you do." I raised an eyebrow. How could this little dragon take a letter to the princess faster than a train if he doesn't even have any wings.
"Alright, then can I go back to bed?" Spike yawned at took the letter from Twilight, and put it up to his mouth. Twilight told him yes as he blew fire onto the scroll. IT seemed to turn into a strange colorful dust and it floated at an extreme speed out of the window. I stood there in a moment of awe. I had no idea dragons could do that. Twilight said that all we had to do now was wait.
Probably a half an hour passed when suddenly Spike clutched his stomach and let out a large belch of fire. Where the fire struck, instead of burning things, there was another scroll with a gold and red "C" band holding it together. Twilight picked it up and read it aloud while spike clambered back up the stairs to finish sleeping the night away.
"My dearest student Twilight Sparkle: In light of this recent news I am asking that you and all your friends come back to Canterlot with Steve as soon as you possibly can. I hope that we can assemble the Elements and then use Steve to hunt down this "Herobrine" and we can restore harmony back into the world. Until then I ask that Steve protect Ponyville from any and all threats this new character poses." Twilight cleared her throat and looked over the letter one more time.
"It looks like I've been assigned to be Ponyville's personal guard, eh?" I said in somewhat of a playful tone.

I had failed to attain any remote amount of sleep at all after the events of last night. After the note from Celestia showed up me and Twilight went around town making sure the streets were brightly lit. We also warned all of the townsfolk about the new dangers there were for the time being to make sure everyone stayed safe. Once we got back to the library, we were a little too wound up to sleep. So I told Twilight that to pass the time I'd answer any questions she may have for me.
"So," Twilight began, "Why did we have to get everywhere in Ponyville brightly lit?" I tilted my head, trying to think of a good way to answer that question.
"Well, i guess a good way to put it would be to tell you that the monsters from my world, can only show up in the darkness. That means that as long as we keep Ponyville lit, we won't ave any surprises. Of course spiders and creepers may still find their way in, but we'll be able to see them approaching at least." As I spoke I noticed Twilight was using some kind of magic with her horn to levitate a quill and paper. She began writing things down with it which I assumed was notes on what I was saying.
"Alright, speaking of monsters, what are all the different kinds that exist in your world and what are they like?" She seemed a little too excited about asking questions about dangerous monsters. I hoped that it was from being excited to learn about new things.
"There are a few different kinds of dangerous monsters lurking around, each one having their own weaknesses and strengths. I guess I'll start from the least deadly to the most. Another thing I should mention though is that most of them actually start to die in the sunlight, so really the only problems we'll have with them is at night." I took a deep breath for a moment, trying to remember everything I could about the... wildlife of Minecraftia. "Well, the first thing to watch out for are the Zombies. They're a bit dumb and all they can do is run in a serpentine path at you flailing their arms. Next we have Spiders which is one of the two monsters that don't die in the sun. During the day they are relatively harmless and won't mess with you, but come nightfall they'll climb walls and jump obstacles to reach you and strike you with one of it's eight giant legs. One of the most annoying things in the night is the Skeleton. These little buggers have discovered how to use basic weaponry and try to hunt you down with a bow and arrow..." I continued to explain the basics about all the monsters I knew about. Cave spiders, creepers, Endermen, and the like. All the while Twilight kept using her strange levitation abilities to write down things on what was by the end of the conversation a small stack of papers.
"So do you have any magic in your world?" Twilight asked, that inquisitive yet happy look never leaving her face.
"Well, I do have somewhat of a magic ability, you see, given the proper equipment, I can enchant things. All I would need is a special enchanting table and a little extra experience from defeating monsters."
"Really?" said Twilight. "You have to show me sometime how you do that. What would need to make this 'Enchanting Table' of yours?" I explained to her the recipe of what it takes to construct an enchanting table and she told me that she knew where to get most of the things we'd need, but we would have to wait until morning to get them.
The rest of the night was spent talking to each other about our different worlds and how certain things worked. Twilight found it rather interesting that the entire structure of my world was entirely made of cubes. Come morning we decided to head over to the train station to purchase tickets for us and Twilight's five friends I have yet to meet.
"Sorry, I can't let you take the train today." The pony at the train station gave us a rather sad look. "You see, the train has suddenly broke down and we don't know what's wrong with it. It's probably gonna take us about three days or so to fix it, sorry." He hung his head as he was probably disappointed at the train breaking down.
"THREE DAYS?!?" Twilight exclaimed. "We need to get to Canterlot, NOW!" The conductor pony pointed his hand to the road and said,
"You could always walk." Twilight frowned at the conductor, and we started to walk back to the library.
"It would take too long to walk there." Twilight said, "We're just going to have to wait until they can fix the train." Before we reached the library, Twilight looked like she just got an excellent idea and she turned to me. "Wait, can't you show me your enchanting table? What is it that you needed for it, again?" She was smiling again, ready to learn I suppose.
"Well, I'm going to need two diamonds, a blank book, and four chunks of obsidian." I made motions with my hand to make it look like I was raising fingers to number a list, and I only hoped that didn't make me look stupid. Twilight said that she definitely knew where she could get some diamonds and a blank book, but she was a little unsure as to where we could obtain some obsidian. She hoped that there might be something in the market that would either help us or actually be obsidian. She told me that we were going to go see her friend Rarity at the Carousel Boutique to get a hold of the diamonds. She told me that gems were quite frequent near Ponyville so Rarity was bound to have a couple extra diamonds for us to have.
We approached Carousel Boutique with a quickened pace. Well, at least Twilight did as I kind of lagged behind. She told me a bit about Rarity as we were walking, how she was the big fashonista in Ponyville (she also had to explain to me what that meant) and how she was a little picky about everything being perfect. Once we were in front of the boutique, Twilight lifted her hoof and knocked on the door a few times. A voice inside the building responded with "Come IiiiiIIInnnn!" Twilight opened the door and motioned for me to follow her inside.
"Rarity, I'd like you to meet my new friend Steve!" Twilight pointed to me with her hoof and a white unicorn which I assumed was rarity came into the room. When she saw where Twilight was pointing she immediately gasped with a look of horror on her face. She walked over to Twilight and whispered something which I could faintly hear, she was mentioning something about how awful my attire looked. I looked down at my clothes and thought about how a cyan shirt and purple pants didn't really look all that fancy compared to what I could wear. After a bit more whispering between the two, Rarity finally approached me.
"It's a- uhm... pleasure to meet you Steve." She kept glancing at me shirt as she talked to me.
"Is there a problem with what I'm wearing, Rarity?" I said bluntly.
"Oh! Err, no. It's just... Uhmm, You're shirt is just so... eye-catching!" I chuckled at how she was stumbling over her words. She really was how Twilight described her to me.
"It's alright, Rarity. I don't really like what I'm wearing, either. It's all I have, though." Rarity offered to make me some better ones, but I politely declined her... several times.
After a bit more declining Twilight was finally able to get Rarity to give us some diamonds on the one condition that I let her make me some new clothes. So I caved in and told her that I'd like to have some and I thanked her for using her time on me. We took the diamonds and began heading towards the Ponyville market to see if we could find any obsidian anywhere. On the way there I wondered what my new clothes would look like and how she was even going to be able to make them fit me.
We were going around the market from stall to stall seeing if anyone knew where to get or purchase some obsidian. Some of the ponies didn't even know what obsidian was let alone know where to get any. We were just about to give up when something strange happened. After I asked one of the last stall guys where to find some of the mineral I needed, a strange pink pony with a puffy mane approached me. "Hey!" She exclaimed, "You look like you could use these, I don't think I have any use for something as silly as this." She reached into her saddlebag and retrieved 4 perfectly cubed blocks of obsidian and placed them into my hands as I sat there, dumbfounded.
"Ah, well, thanks for this, I was actually looking for this exact amount. How did you know?" The pink pony laughed and told me that her "Pinkie Senses" told her that someone needed something, so she grabbed the closest thing that was next to her and headed out to the market. I'm not quite sure what that means, but I'm still pretty grateful to her. I thanked her and ran back to Twilight and showed her the obsidian.
"Wow," she said, "Who had that?" I told her that some strange pink, bubbly pony gave it to me, I also told her how she said something about Pinkie Senses, and that made Twilight mumble to herself, "Why on earth would Pinkie have thi- ugh, never mind."
We returned back to the library with almost all the necessary items for creating an enchanting table in tow. "Where are we going to get the blank book?" I asked, and then I realized how stupid I sounded. We're in a library, it's full of books and I'm sure some of them are going to be blank. "Oh, right." I said as Twilight levitated a blank book down to me. I sat down next to the crafting table I had made the previous night and placed all the items in their necessary order. Sure enough, they formed into a miniature enchantment table block. I picked it up and placed it next to the crafting table in what I hoped to be an orderly fashion with the rest of the room. Now, what to enchant?
I realized that I still had my iron pickaxe on me from the events that led me into this world, so I retrieved it from my bottomless pocket and placed it on the enchantment table. Twilight was in awe as a small light started enveloping the pickaxe, making it ripple like some kind of fancy glow stick. I was focusing all my leftover experience into the book that resided on the table. I opened it up, and read off the first words that appeared on the book, "KLAATU, TWIST, XYZZY!" I announced aloud and a light shot from the book and went into the pickaxe. I was really hoping that I ended up with a Fortune enchantment for it, so I could get a lot more diamonds for armor and such.
"So, what does it do?" Twilight asked.
"Let me see," I picked up my newly enchanted pickaxe that took me thirteen levels of experience to create. After examining it for a little bit, I hung my head low and sobbed a little.
"It's a silk touch pickaxe..."
6: Nightmares(?) of Herobrine
After a bit more of explaining to Twilight how enchanting works and some of the things it could do, I realized just exactly how tired I was. I guess our conversation went on for a lot longer then I had ever anticipated. Because when I looked out of the window, I saw the moon. "Well Twilight, it's been nice talking to you, but I'm pretty beat right now. We can talk more in the morning if you'd like."
Twilight turned her head towards the window and then back at me, frowning. "Oh, is it that late already?" She asked rhetorically, "Well, then I guess we better get to bed." Me and twilight stood up from the floor in the library and began to make our way to our respective beds. As I laid down I felt strangely uneasy, as if something unnatural was watching me. I kept slowing my breathing and waiting for sleep to take me, only it didn't. Something was wrong, really wrong. I felt the strange presence getting closer and closer. I'd like to describe to you in more detail about what it felt like, but all I can say is that it just felt... wrong.
I was just about to get up to check around the house to do a quick monster check when something caught my attention in the corner of my eye, a mirror. I wondered for a moment, That wasn't there before. What's a mirror doing in the middle of the room? I stood up and made my way to the strange reflective surface. Now that I could get a good look at it, I realized it wasn't exactly what you would call a normal mirror, as it was just a pane of reflective glass floating about a foot off of the ground. One look at my reflection in the mirror and my entire mind was filled with a sense of dread and I could feel my stomach churning. For when I looked into that mirror, what looked back wasn't me, but was instead, Herobrine.
Suddenly, everything started changing around me. The library began to fade away and was replaced by a vein-filled, red, stone-like substance known as Netherrack. The curves of the Equestrian world were straightening out, and the uniqueness of everything around me became red and bland. It was obvious where I was now, it was no other place then the Nether. I don't know how much sense that made, but I didn't have any time to question it as I could hear a loud voice speaking to me.
"So, YoU tHiNk YoU cAn DeStRoY mE wItH tHeSe, 'ElEmEnTs Of HaRmOnY?'" It boomed, coming from no specific point but yet everywhere at once. I recognized this voice almost immediately, it was definitely Herobrine's. He began to speak up again, but this time his voice no longer wavered as he spoke in a more forceful tone, "YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN DEFEAT ME." His voice is now deafeningly booming into my ears, almost assaulting my very brain with just his voice. "I CAN EVEN PROVE IT RIGHT NOW. LET'S PLAY A LITTLE GAME, STEVE. I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU A FRIEND TO HELP YOU, AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RUN TO THE FORTRESS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU AND DEFEAT ME. IF YOU CAN'T, YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS IN EQUESTRIA WILL PERISH. IF YOU DO, HOWEVER, I WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE FOREVER." I simply nodded as Herobrine boomed for the "game" to start, what else could I do? As I began to head forward, a figure materialized in front of me in almost the same manner as how I left came into the Nether. It was another Minecraftian like me. Except he was wearing some sort of combat clothing and a helmet. When he fully appeared, he immediately took a militarized position and saluted me.
"Ender, at your service, sir!" I greeted him and he eased from his salute.
"You know what you're doing here, correct?" I stared him down, not sure whether to trust him or not.
"Sir, yes, sir!" He replied directly, saluting once again. I nodded at him and then motioned my arm towards the fort and told him to move it as fast as he could. We didn't have any time to waste defeating Herobrine. Just before we began to move, Ender retrieved from a backpack he was holding a diamond sword and he handed it to me. I nodded at him again and we were on our way
We ran past a small horde of Zombie Pigmen, who really didn't seem to pay us much attention so long as we didn't bump into one them and finally were at the small entryway inside the fort. I looked at Ender and he looked back at me, and we both took a step inside. Once we were fully inside we were met with the screaming sounds of the poor lost souls of the sand. From what I could figure, the entire Nether Fortress was built on top of a Soulsand deposit. No matter where we went inside the twisted halls, we could not escape the cries of the souls below us. Eventually we reached an impossibly large room, and in the center of it, a golden throne where Herobrine sit. Even from the distance we were at, you could still feel his presence just by looking in his general direction. "CHARGE!" I yelled as me and Ender ran at full speed towards the throne. I can't lose this, I thought, There's no way I'm going to let anyone else die because of me. Wait... anyone else? What did I just say? I was questioning what I meant by anything else, it felt like some sort of lost memory was welling up in the back of my mind but just wasn't quite there yet. There was no time to contemplate it at the moment, I had a battle to win.
Before we could even reach Herobrine, some mysterious black force took Ender and sent him careening into a wall at almost mach speed. There was going to be no getting up from that. I bit my lip as I jumped to try and strike Herobrine from above, but to no avail. He simply lifted his hand and was able to shove me down back to the floor. "NOW IT'S TIME TO PAY FOR SEALING ME HERE."
The last thing I remember going through my mind before he struck me was what he meant by sealing him here.
