A Night Alone Is Another Night Sad
1: At school
Load Full Story“Ardy, dude, it’s time to go. Get your stuff together, quick. We’ve got like, 2 minutes left until the bell rings.” Thomas said, putting his backpack on. I quickly put my school laptop in the computer cart and plugged it in, then went back to my desk to put my Surface Pro in my bag along with my headphones. I can’t believe I slept through math class, that’s the first time that I’ve ever slept through any class. I hope I didn’t miss anything, I’m failing as it is.
The bell finally rang, and I was the first to get out of the classroom, and the first to tell my teacher, “Have a nice day.” “I just want to get home, I’m so tired.” I thought to myself. Today actually has been tiring, with all of the studying that’s been going on because of ‘end of the year’ exams and testing. I can already feel my head resting on my pillow. I wake up and realize that the bell was ringing, and I have just fallen asleep. I am the last one to get out of the classroom, but first to tell my teacher to have a good day. I hope that I don’t fall asleep again, it would be pretty awkward to wake up in front of the principal telling me to call someone because I missed the busses. I’m just starting to exit class and I hear someone calling my name.
“Connor. Connor! Wait up.” It’s my friend, Sarah. I met her the first day of school, sitting alone at a lunch table. I still can’t believe that I confronted her, I am secretly so shy. “Connor, what are you doing this weekend?” She asked, like she wanted something. Why would she want to know what I was doing this weekend? Today’s Wednesday. “Nothing, like usual.” I replied, wanting to know what she wanted, although I knew what she wanted was to come over. “Oh.” She said, walking next to me. We were almost halfway to the doors when she started talking again. “Do you think I could come over to your house someday, maybe this weekend? Is that okay?” She finally asked. I started thinking in my head… “Yeah, sure, text me the time you want to come over, any time is okay, my dad and his girlfriend won’t be there, probably.” I replied. I don’t even know why I had to think, I love that girl, she’s my best friend, of course she could come over.
She hugged me on my side, “Thanks.” She said. I was blushing, I loved hugs, and she knew that, and especially from her. I gave in and put my arm around her, pulling her in tighter. When we got to the lobby is when we stopped hugging, but only to face each other and give a proper hug. “Love you.” I told her as we stopped hugging. “I love you, too.” She replied. We exit the school together and parted ways, getting on our own busses. I sat down in the front seat of the bus where I usually sit. I chose to sit here, I didn’t want that weirdo Zack to bother me the whole time and change my emotional state. I settled down and started thinking about Sarah again. I really do love her, as one of my girls, of course. Why would I love her anymore? She’s just another one of my girls that I have… I sigh. Why do I keep denying the fact that I like her, I know I do. I love the way she treats me, in her own unique way. Other girls would just hug me for a short time, while Sarah, she’d hug me until I let go, never have we hugged for a short time. And my other girls don’t try to spend most of their time with me, unlike Sarah, she pushes most things out of the way to get to me.
I just love her smell, too. She has on the best choice for a perfume that anyone could choose. And her looks, she is beautiful. Her straight, long brown hair, hazel eyes, thin body, and to say one more thing, she has just the right size breasts… not that I look... all the time. I try and not to think about her for the rest of the ride home. I get my headphones and phone out, and listen to some slow melody dubstep remixes. When I got home, I did all of my chores, which was take out the trash, and went straight to bed, no supper or anything.
I wake up to the sound of my alarm on my phone. I get my clothes and head to the shower, since I didn’t take one last night like I usually do. Once I got out I put on my clothes, brushed my teeth, shaved, and got all of my stuff ready for school. I waited drowsily for the bus to drive by my house so I can go outside and wait for it to turn around. I put my headphones on with some dubstep again.
Finally, the bus came and I got on and sat in the back this time, only because Zack doesn’t ride in the mornings. The bus ride seemed very fast today, probably because I was half awake like usual. I got off the bus, went in the school, and sat down on a bench outside the cafeteria in the other lobby area. I saw Sarah come through the doors a few minutes later. Sarah came over and sat right next to me so close that we were barely not touching. “Good morning, Connor.” She said in a happy tone. “Heyyy.” I replied, trying to act happy, which I was, but just tired. “So I figured it would be easier if we could just talk right now about me coming over.” She said. “Yeah, okay.” I replied. “I was thinking I could get off the bus with you today, since we don’t have school tomorrow.” She suggested. Oh shoot, that’s right, no school tomorrow, what a relief that is. I’ve been so tired recently, probably because I haven’t been eating much recently. “Yeah. You can, we’d have to go to the office to get you a bus pass, though.” I said, realizing that my arm was around her. “Can we go now?” She asked. “Yeah, did you have your mom write a note already?” I asked, thinking probably not. “Yeah, I had her write one just in case if you said yes.” She replied. We went down the hall and left to the main office, and got her a bus pass. The bell rang as we were heading back. “I guess I better get to class, do you have your stuff?” I asked. “Yeah, I’ll see you later, Connor.” We hugged each other while heading towards our classes and finally split up.
When I arrived to my biology class I took out my cell phone and text my dad. “Hey dad, is it okay if I have someone over tonight? There’s no school tomorrow, and they’ll stay for a few days, maybe.” I felt kind of stupid for not asking him yesterday, but I was really tired, and this morning he wasn’t even awake yet. I wake up at around 6:00 to 6:30 on the weekdays, I wouldn’t imagine him waking up around that time. My phone ‘buzzed’ and I checked it. “I guess, who is it?” He said. I replied, “Her name’s Sarah.” It seemed like immediately after I sent it he replied. “No funny stuff. We won’t be there this weekend, remember.” My dad said. Oh that’s right, I did forget. My dad and his girlfriend won’t be staying here tonight, they are visiting his girlfriend’s daughter who lives in another state. The bell rang for first period to start. “Only seven more periods to go.” One of my girls, Emily, said. “Yeah, I hope this isn’t going to be a long day. I had a long sleep last night.” I said. “Oh, I just slept like, six or seven hours.” She replied. “I just hope I do well on this test in math class today.” I said. “I’m sure you’ll be fine.” She replied, putting her arm around me. I just gave her a side hug and got my stuff out for class.
After a couple of hours went by, it was finally time for lunch. Once the bell rang, I immediately got up and sat at one of the round tables with six seats in the cafeteria, where I and my girls sat. I was the second one there, as Emily was the closest to the cafeteria. Minutes later came the small clique of friends, Hannah, Sydney, and Jessica. They were also my girls. Emily sat next to me on my left, and when Sarah finally came, she sat next to my right. I gave Emily and Sarah a hug each.
“What’s up, girls?” I asked the small clique. “Some guy was bothering me and Jessica during second today.” Hannah started. “He just needs to learn that we don’t like him, it’s quite awkward when I and Hannah are trying to study alone.” Jessica finished. And I being their ‘master’, as I call myself, wanted to know who it was so I could tell him to back off. “Who?” I asked seriously. “Don’t worry about it.” Jessica said. “Well I have to now, why would you tell me if you didn’t want me to do anything about it?” I asked, knowing that I would get an answer now. “Fine, it’s Jacob. He keeps coming over and touching us. We told him over and over again that we don’t like him, but he thinks that we ‘secretly’ do.” Hannah replied. “I’ll handle it.” I said. How could I not, they are my girls, no one else will take them, without permission and them showing me who they really are first. “Connor, don’t, its fine.” Hannah and Jessica said. “Is a guy touching you ‘fine’?” I asked. “No, it’s not. No one should touch a female when they resist.” I continued. Hannah got up and came behind me, putting her hands on my shoulders, leaning on me. “Connor, do you really?” She asked. “Yes! No one touches my girls unless I say so.” I said. Hannah hugged me from behind, as I placed my hands on her arms lovingly. We ate our lunches and sat pretty much quiet the rest of the time, mostly because the small clique was on YouTube watching music videos, and Emily was reading a book. I just played on my phone the whole rest of the time. After lunch I had music class, which was pretty fun because I was so good at it. What we did was play a different instrument every couple weeks, and I’m very good with my fingers, so I handled everything correctly. And after music class, I had gym, my most favorite class. Although I weigh a bit more than everyone else, I still like to push myself hard, and play the best I can. In the locker room I saw Jacob, I came over to him when we were almost done changing, and I just had yet to put my shoes on. “Yo, we need to talk.” I said, standing straight to show authority. “’bout what?” He asked in a slightly dick of a voice. “My girls. Don’t touch them when they ask you not to. Do you understand?” I asked in a strict voice. “Why do I have to?” He challenged. I slammed my forearm on his neck and punched his stomach three times knocking the breath out of him. I’m not that strong, at all. But I know I hit him hard. My forearm was still on his neck, pinning him to the lockers. “Because I’ll ensure that you can’t touch them again after what I do to you.” I replied. Everyone was standing around me in a circle not saying anything. I never have fought in the school, and I don’t want to again. I slammed him on the ground, put on my shoes, and walked out the door. No one made a noise. Man, I’m glad that’s over, I just want to play gym today, and we’re going to play soccer, my favorite sport. We got done with our warm up and I’m surprised I’m not in trouble yet. Well, we started playing soccer, and I was defense for the first half. I got a lot of standing tackles, and a few sliding tackles, too. I didn’t hurt anyone, luckily. After the first half, I was on the offence. I had everyone pass the ball to me, and I made three goals in 13 minutes. I did some cool moves, like the sombrero and rainbow. The goal keeper couldn’t stand a chance against me. After gym was over, the coach came over to me. “Connor, why did you beat up Jacob?” He asked in a quiet voice. “I didn’t beat him up, first of all. And second of all, he was harassing my girls. He would not stop touching them, not just today, but every day. Write me up if you need, but I at least hope you understand.” I said trying to calm my voice.
I’m just going to skip to the end of school. I ended getting written up, but my gym teacher at least respects me. I was just leaving math class when Sarah met up with me, grabbing my arm. “We’re still going to your house, right?” She asked. “Yeah. What are we even going to do?” I asked. “I don’t really know, I’m sure we’ll find something to do.” She said. I don’t know why she didn’t think about this before last minute. Well, I can’t really say much, either. I haven’t thought about what to do the whole time either. The only thing I thought about was maybe watch TV together or go outside. “Oh, no one’s going to be there when we arrive. They already left to go see my dad’s girlfriend’s daughter in Texas.” I said, taking out my phone. “Oh, they trust you that much?” She asked. “Yeah, it’s pretty cool. And they’re not coming back until Sunday, by the way.” I replied.
