Chapter 1: The Scholar and the Bookworm
You know, when you try to make things go your way, sometimes life just flips you a big middle finger and says no. Like for instance, you really want to ask this really pretty girl out to the Gala or something like that, then you find out she already has a date. Or when you and your buddies want to go out to a movie then your sister decides to come in tell the whole family she almost flunked out of college starting an argument that lasted the whole damn night- okay I'm sorry I'm getting off subject here. Anyways, my point being that things don't always turn out the way you want them to. Take what happened to me for example, I thought that I was going to spend a few quiet hours in the Canterlot High Library, but nope fate had different plans for me.
I'll be brutally honest, I was not exactly displeased with how things turned out don't get me wrong, just didn't expect what happened would actually freaking happen. Not. One. Bit.
Ha, I bet you're wondering what took place on what was supposed to be a nice quite study session in the library. Don't fret my dear friend, everything will be revealed in time. But first things first; allow me to introduce myself, I'm Notebook, aptly named for the reason that I am considered a bit of a chronic note-taker. What? I like to be thorough in my note-taking. Anyways, you can just call me Note, as most of everyone in the entire school knows me by. Pleasure to meet you. Now, I guess I should tell you all about what happened on that one quiet afternoon. But, like all great stories, lets start from the beginning...

So, its close to the end of the year. With only two weeks left of school, finals have begun and the amount of tension within the halls of Canterlot High could be cut with a knife. And with the inception of final exams, brings higher stress levels for everyone in the school. Especially for me and my fellow seniors. Now, if you think that the finals they give us are some easy peasy, shit simple tests then you are sadly mistaken, my friend. The teachers here at CHS are absolutely merciless. Sweet Celestia, I swear from my freshman year all the way to now, I've had to deal with piles of homework every night and teachers who are anal about everything. In other words, you turn in something late? Zero. Didn't study for a test? Just put your name on it and turn it in 'cause there is no way you will pass it. I learned quickly that there is only a few ways to survive: take a shitload of notes, study them, and keep everything organized so you can turn in stuff on time.
And the funny thing is is that this isn't even a private school. Its a public school, with uptight teachers. Quite a combination.
Now, seniors tend to coast and somewhat relax during the closing days of the second semester. How you can you blame us really? Four years of doing the same shit with the same people can become tiring. Honestly, a lot of seniors do relax in the last days. But those are the idiots that do their studying the night before the test, end up failing, not graduating, dropping out, and joining the fast food business. And of course, there are some smart ones who are lazy or as they call themselves, energy efficient, and study the night before and get a passing grade. Then there's the kids who are geniuses and don't even have to study because they already know the test like the back of their hand, so what's the point in them studying? Nevertheless, I always see the school geniuses with their noses buried in books, preparing themselves for the upcoming exam.
As for me, I'm also considered an intellectual here at this fine school. I take pride in that fact. Hence the name Notebook. Its not like my parents would give that kind of name to someone who would be a complete dunce in school. And yes I live up to the geeky expectation. I like video games, gadgets, and the sort. But take the social awkwardness out of the primordial equation. Yes, I am a geek and I do have friends, albeit most of them are as nerdy as me, but being in the top ten percent with other seniors who are as smart as I am, friends tend to be made. So I'm not totally a loner. Somewhat. And my love life? Well, lets just not speculate on that shall we?
So, on with the story telling.
For most of us intellectuals here at Canterlot High, we prefer to get ahead and study right before finals start, which is next week. So like the smart guy that I am I decided to stay late at school on the Friday before finals to do some studying in the massive cache of knowledge that is the Canterlot High library. One thing that people do on Fridays is head straight home to do who-knows-what and waste their time partying. For me, I never liked the party scene. Got invited to a party once, saw a bunch of people getting high and wasted, and then discovered that parties weren't my cup of tea. At least those types of parties. Anyways, one thing that was cool about this school was that it gave us a lot of freedom to things that most schools would never do. Like letting some students have access to the certain areas of the school after hours, but only on certain circumstances like extracurricular activities and the sort. The librarian Ms. Cheerilee, usually leaves very early on a Friday and lets anyone who needs the library to stay and use it. As long as she trusts that you won't do anything dumb.
So I walked in after school ended at four o' clock and saw Ms. Cheerilee at her desk, wearing a rose-colored sweater vest, a white long sleeved under shirt; her skirt a matching pink. She was at her desk where she usually sat, getting her things ready to leave. "Hello, Ms. Cheerilee!" I greeted as cheerfully as possible while approaching her.
"Hi there, Note!" She replied in her cheerul tone. "Can I help you with something real quick? I have to get going." Ah Ms. Cheerilee, she always was really helpful with me. Ever since I started here in Freshmen year, she has always been so sweet, kind, and caring. Not to mention she was quite the looker for a woman her age. She had long pink and white hair that ran down her back and over her shoulders. She was not terribly tall, a bit shorter than I was (I am over six feet), but she was also kind of hot with the way she had voluptuous curves running along her hips. Not to mention her breasts looked quite generous. Seriously, she must go to the gym or something. Most of all, she had a beautiful heart shaped face, with barely any wrinkles showing.
"Nah, nothing much really," I said as I leaned against the desk as she readied her bag. "I'm actually going to stay here a little while after school, gotta do some studying."
"Really? On a Friday?" She stopped fixing her things and put a hand on her hip with a puzzled expression. "I'd like to think that everyone hastily goes home to start their weekend. So you're staying here to study?"
"Yep, you know me," And to be honest she really did. On my off time I spent most of my time here talking with Ms. Cheerilee, working on homework, study, or just hang around. So you could say we knew each other pretty well and she trusted me.
She giggled and returned to fixing her bag. "Yes I know, you like to get ahead. Well I guess I'll leave the library and lock it from the outside, just make sure you don't touch anything you're not supposed to."
"Trust me, you haven't got a thing to worry about. I'll probably just stay here for a few hours and head home." I replied casually, placing down my hands in my pockets. "Besides, I'm pretty sure everyone else has taken off and there won't be anyone coming in."
"Yeah, probably," She looked down at her watch. "Oh shoot, I gotta get going. I have to pick up my sister, Berry Punch in a little bit and she really hates it when I'm late." She picks up her bag and slings her purse over her shoulder, brushing a strand of pink hair out of her eye. "Ugh, I must look dreadful, finals are here and they have me working double to take in inventory. Do I look messy to you?"
"No ma'am, you look as fine as ever," I complimented her with a slight smile.
"Oh Note, you are too kind," She said blushing and trying harder to fix her hair. "Anyways, I have to get going. I'll see you later Note! Oh! And the coffee machine is good to go if you need any!" She shouted as she quickly walked over to the door. "Goodbye, Note! And be careful please!"
"I will! Take care, Ms. Cheerilee!" I shouted back, picking up my bag and walking over to an empty computer and plopping down in front of it. I sighed and began to shuffle through my bag looking for notes that I had taken all this month. Ha, I even had them organized by subject in a binder so I wouldn't lose them. Effective am I right? Anyways, I know I had notes, but I needed more than just notes on what the teacher was going over! Sometimes notes just weren't enough, so I either turned to books or the Internet itself. Yeah I know, I'm a total egghead. But whatever gets me into college and gets me a good paying job. What I wanted to study? I have no real clue, but then again who does? Some people say they do, but when it comes down to the wire they end up going for something else because they couldn't handle the pathway in the first place. I guess I'll figure it out sooner or later.
Anyways, I switched on the computer and it started to load up. As it did so, I strolled over to where the coffee machine sat on it's counter, ready for brewing. I grabbed a filter and placed it into the machine, then got some grinds from the tin nearby, and placed a couple of spoonfuls in it. After that, I closed it up and switched on the machine so it could start brewing. I walked back over to the computer and saw that it already loaded up and was ready to go. So I punched in my ID and password and waited as the system logged me in. I logged in and I clicked on the main Internet browser to start on my research. History was the first exam that I would be taking next week so I figured that I would just start with that. Everything else like math and literature I could just look back at my notes without much help from the Internet. But for history I would need much more than just notes. Hence why I'm here.
About thirty minutes passed by with me sitting there at the computer, researching different topics that came up in my notes. Within that time I grabbed a cup of coffee with two sugars and a bit of creamer. Just like I like it, ahhh. Anyways, it became eerily quiet in the library, the only sound being the sound of my fingers hitting the keys, the hum of the computer, and the flipping of my pages. I never really noticed how kinda creepy it can be in here when I'm alone. Usually it was always me and Cheerilee chatting away and I never really noticed the ominous silence. Hardly anyone came to the library. Honestly its highly debatable why people never come to the library. Either because they have better things to do, they want to leave school because they get tired, or any other reason that does not involve stopping at the library.
It is kinda absurd isn't it? I mean you would think that other intellectuals like me would be coming to the library to study as well. And I bet you're wondering: 'Notebook, why didn't you just go home and study like a normal person?' As I said before, this library is a goldmine of information that I have free access to! For an intellectual like me, I would have a ball in this spacious library! Sorry, do I sound a little too excited about this? Please excuse my overzealous behavior. There's that reason and honestly there's too much distraction at my house. I mean there's my mother, Textbook, but she can be distracting sometimes. Then there's my older sister, Leaflet, she is about a few years older than me and has already passed through the big melodramatic soap opera that is high school and is in college. And despite her age, she can still be quite a bother. Terrible to have around if I don't want distractions. Oh, my father? Well, his name is Novel. He works as a writer and has published a few books of his own. Oh and my mother is a school teacher for young kids in case you didn't know. Huh, I remember they met in a library of all places. Ironic is it not?
Well, enough of my family and our history. Back to the story.
A third of an hour passed and I was halfway through studying for the history final; my coffee cup already empty. I started off researching the beginning of civilization and then onto the events that took place that formed our society such as wars and everything that included revolutions and violence. History was okay with me, but it honestly gets boring over time. Great, only forty five minutes in and already I was getting bored. Argh! I can't get bored when I'm studying! If I do, then that means I start to distract myself to get unbored! Shit!
Suddenly, in the midst of my distress, my phone began to ring and saw that it was my mother calling me. "Hello?" I croaked into the receiver.
"Note? How are you doing? Everything okay?" The sound of my mothers soft voice rang through the speaker of my phone. Nothing more comforting than a mother's voice.
"Uh yeah, everything's fine, just studying for finals," I put my hand on my forehead and massaged my temple. Damn, the stress was already setting in.
"Okay, call me when you are heading home, okay?"
"Okay, I'll let you know then," I sighed and looked at the numerous amount of notes that I still had to study on. Maybe I shouldn't take so many notes in class. Note to self, don't take too many notes anymore- damn it! I'm doing it again! Stupid force of habit...
"And Note?"
"Yeah?"
"Please be careful with what you're doing there. Try not to do anything conspicuous or otherwise idiotic okay?" Oh my mother and her ways of expressing her worries.
"C'mon, you really think I would do something idiotic?" I replied back with a smirk.
"Oh, you sound just like your father, Note," She chuckled and causing me to laugh along as well. "Just make sure you don't stay too late, your father and I will be at home."
"Got it, ten-four,"
"Just get back to studying will you? But please don't fry your brain," I laughed again and told her I would do my best. After that I hung up and locked my phone, going back to studying history. Another forty minutes passed by and I was finished studying the parts of my notes that had to do with history.
I looked over my mound of notes, all of them organized by subject. I came across the section of my notes that were mathematical. Ah, math, the subject that challenges the intellect of scholars and boggles the minds of simpletons. A most intriguing subject indeed. At least that's what I think. This year I was taking pre-calculus, so you can imagine how tough that can be. My teacher, Mr. Cranky Doodle can be a real asshole when it comes to tests. Even if you study like a madman, like the way I'm doing now, his tests are still difficult! All year I've had a difficult time just keeping my grade above a C! Fuck, oh well then, I guess I could study my notes from his class then. Better to be safe then sorry.
I began the adventure into the labyrinth that is the subject of math. I soon went back into study mode as I looked over my notes and referred to the computer whenever I needed to get some online assistance. I went back to get some more coffee and restarted it to brew some more if I needed it. As I studied, I kept looking at my phone to check on the time and it was close to five o' clock. Perfect, I'm making good time with all this. I kept shuffling through all my notes that held numerous equations and formulas that were jotted down. The equations were sometimes confusing and I had a hard time deciphering them. Ha! Nothing a little bit of Internet can't fix you numbers and letters son of a bitch!
Anyways, I was focused on just getting through these problems so that way I could continue on something else. I think maybe a little bit too focused.
Too focused in the way that I was not aware of a certain someone walking up from behind me and tapping my shoulder with a girl's voice saying...
"Uh, hi?"
Needless to say, I had the shit scared out of me. Scared to the point that the notes I had in my hands went flying into the air as I shouted out in surprise.
"Gah!" I shouted amidst the flying papers and whirled around in my seat to face the asshole that decided to play 'Let's Scare the Shit Out of the Egghead!'
Oh... It was her.
I'd recognize that dark purple hair with a pink and violet strip running through it anywhere. She was actually in my math class and I've even seen her in the library a few times. She was wearing one of her signature outfits: a light blue, button up shirt with short sleeves, a skirt that almost matched her hair, and her purple boots. All drawn together by the dark pink bowtie around her neck. I knew who she was. Rumored to be one of the biggest bookworms in the entire school, also ranked in the top five percentile. I always see her hanging out with Fluttershy and Applejack. I think maybe even the legendary Rainbow Dash herself. Sweet Goddesses. I believe her name was...
"Twilight Sparkle? What are you doing here? School ended almost an hour ago," I said as I scrambled to pick up my papers. "Oh and thanks a bunch for scaring the hell out of me, by the way,"
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you like that! Here, let me help," She quickly knelt down and started to help me gather the papers that fell to the floor. And you know me, there were a lot of papers to pick up. Meanwhile, I reached for a paper and wouldn't you know it? She was as well. I grabbed it and she probably didn't see my hand or something and she grabbed it, the paper already in my grasp. I honestly expected her to just snap her hand away from mine, but for some odd reason she didn't. She just let it linger there. Okay this was getting weird I looked at her and she immediately flushed and her face turned slightly red.
"Twilight, you mind giving me my hand back?" I said flatly with a scowl adorning my face.
"Oh, uh sure," She muttered and let go of my hand. Sheesh, and I thought I was awkward around the opposite sex, but this girl just takes the primordial cake. After I gathered up all the fallen papers, I neatly put them back into a stack and placed them onto the desk. I then sat back down onto the seat to continue my studying, but right now I wanted to know why she was here and how she got in.
"So, you never answered my question as to what you are doing here," I looked back at her and saw that she was playing with a lock of her hair, looking down at the ground. "Twilight?"
She stopped playing with her hair and looked over at me with her wide violet-rimmed eyes. "Oh, well uh I was helping one of my teachers with something that she needed me for,"
"Right, and the reason you stopped in the library to scare the crap out of me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, making her blush deepen. Jeez, why was she blushing so much? Its not like I asked her for sex or anything like that. Damn.
"Well uh, I heard you talking to Lyra in Mr. Cranky's class that you would be coming to the library after school to study, so I decided to do the same and study as well. You know, so you could have a study buddy?" Really, a study buddy. As much as I like the company of others, during study time I was a different person. While I study I don't like distractions. But then again, I hated being an asshole to a nice girl like her. So I decided to play it as cool as I could.
"Really, well, I guess it could be nice to have someone around while I study, but how did you even get in here? The front door is locked,"
"Oh, uh I'm the president of the reader's club here at school," She said with a wide grin. "And being president gives you certain perks," I put the puzzle pieces together.
"Let me guess, Cheerilee gave you a key to the library?"
"Yeah, how did you know?" She asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Lucky guess, anyways," I turned back to my computer and started to look through my notes again to find where I left off. "Ah, let's see where in the world did leave off?" Meanwhile Twilight took the seat next to me and moved close to where I was sitting. Maybe a little too close now that I think about it, but at the time I was too busy looking for the paper.
"What are you looking for?" She asked curiously looking at my huge pile of papers. Honestly, I really have to stop taking so many notes.
"I'm looking for a paper on logarithms, I think that was where I left off anyways," I replied, still shuffling through all these damned papers.
"Oh, is it this one?" She pulls a paper seemingly out of nowhere, coloring me fifty shades of 'what the hell'.
"Yyyeah, it is actually," I pulled the paper from her hand. "Thanks,"
"Does that make up for scaring you?" She asked hopefully. "I really am sorry about that,"
"Eh, somewhat and its fine really," I replied with a wave of my hand. "Anyways, I thought that you would be leaving school with your friends. Are they busy or what?"
"Well, Fluttershy is going to be busy at the animal shelter, Applejack left to Appleloosa with her family, Rainbow Dash is going to a party with Pinkie, and well Rarity is leaving to Manehattan to visit her parents. So yes they are going to be busy, unfortunately," She purses her lips and rests her chin on her palms.
"Right, well sorry to hear that, Twilight," I said while looking at my notes. "So, what are you studying for?
"Oh yeah, that," She then started to play with her hair yet again, looking away from me. Shit, even though she was being awkward she really knew how to make awkward look cute. "Well, I have a final next week that I really wanna study very hard for," She said in a tone that, now that I remember, slightly registered in the frequency of 'sultry', but I was too focused not to catch it. Some intellectual I am...
"Hmm, what kind of final?" I asked, my chin resting on my palm while I stare intently at the computer screen. She didn't answer back. "Twilight?" I swiveled around in the chair and it was at that moment where the situation got a whole lot more intense. There she was... Standing right in front of me...
Her bow tie was undone and hanging from her collar. The top few buttons of her blouse were unbuttoned, her hand lying on her hip. She stood in the way that most models do when they want to look sexy and boy was she pulling it off. It was also at this moment where I realized how truly attractive she was. Her body was lithe and petite with unmistakable curves running down her form. With the top of her shirt undone I could see her cleavage peeking out from the gap. I'll just go ahead and say that my mouth started water a bit at the sight and my discipline was rapidly dissipating; my heart rate speeding up and my face burning up. She was also giving me intense bedroom eyes with a tinge of red on her cheeks. Fuck... But how in the blazes of hell did she turn into this so fast!? Either she was fast or I was too stupid to notice that she was getting undressed in front of me. Eh, probably the latter.
She slowly started to strut over to me, exaggerating her hips. "You really wanna know what test I'm gonna study for?" She purred at me as I sat frozen, glued to my chair.
"Uh, I c-can give a few g-guesses," I croaked out, sweat starting to form on my brow. She then began to circle around my seat, like she was about to pounce on me, running her hand under my chin and around my shoulder, eliciting a few shudders from me. Oh fuck, I felt like an instrument because she was playing with me real good. Ohhh dear...
"Really, can you tell me?" She whispered into my ear as she circled around my back. The once awkward girl was now making me slightly aroused. It was strange, I never expected a total bookworm like her to be this good at making me quiver with sexual excitement. It was as if she just transformed from a socially awkward nerd, to a hot and sexy seductress.
"Uh, math?" I asked feebly.
"No," She purred in my ear. "Try harder, sweetie," Sweetie? Oh ho ho, we come to the nicknames now.
"Uh, h-how about physics?" I once again asked, my heart pumping at a mile minute. She then went ahead and straddled my legs and sat down on my lap, her perky breasts right in my face with her looking down at me with intense bedroom eyes. Okay, either I was dreaming or this was a dream come true!
"No, just try a little harder," I took notice on how she emphasized the word 'harder'.
"O-okay heh, what about uh English?" I guessed for the third time. Now that I look back at it, I must have sounded like a prepubescent school boy trying to figure out how to talk to a girl for the first time. In retrospect, I probably should have just gone along with it, but my lack of sexual experience with girls played a major role in me not being able to catch on.
"Oh, you silly, you haven't been to figure it out?" She giggled in that lustful tone. "Here, let me give you a hint."
She started to slowly lean forward about to press her lips against mine. At this point my heart was going crazy and I could hardly breathe. Before I was able to say anything else, I found her mouth on mine, her arms wrapped around my neck. At first I had no idea what to do with her sitting on my lap and her lips pressed against mine so I simply sat there. Frozen! It was only until her tongue found it's way past my lips and into my mouth did I actually move. And it was also here I realized I was not dreaming and this was actually happening.
At that point I did what my instincts were telling me to do and grabbed her hips, pulling her body closer to mine. I had no real clue how to French kiss so I just followed what she was doing and tried pushing my tongue against hers. My arousal was growing when she started to moan into my mouth and ground her ass on my groin, my pants growing uncomfortably tighter by the second. But right at that moment the sensible part of my brain began fighting back, saying how absurd the situation was.
I barely knew this girl! And yet here she was grinding on my lap and kissing me with all her passion! Not to mention we were doing this in a public place! But the one thing I wanted to know was why? Why did she suddenly decide to come and do this with me when I hardly knew her!? Not that I was completely not okay with what was happening, but I still had to know. So I gently pushed her away from me, our lips coming apart with an audible smack and a trail of saliva keeping us connected.
"Twilight," I gasped out, trying to regain my composure. "Why are you doing this? I hardly know you."
It was at that moment the girl from before came back and she developed a sorrowful expression. "Can I be brutally honest with you, Note? There's just something I've always wanted to tell you, but I just couldn't tell you so I decided to show you. Not one of my brightest ideas," She started to rub her arm with her hand, looking away from me in embarrassment. I kind of felt sorry for the poor girl, she was obviously as clueless as I was when it came to revealing your feelings for someone else. "Its just that, ever since junior year I..." She trailed off and started playing with her hair again.
"What? What is it? Tell me," I said to her, just wanting to know the answer as to why she was acting like this.
"Ever since I met you, in junior year," She fixed her position until she was sitting on my lap normally as if I was a chair. "When we met in chemistry and we ended up being lab partners, well I kinda just developed a crush on you. You were so smart and charming I immediately started to fall for you. More than a few times I wanted to ask you out on a date, but I could never build up the guts to do it. Then you were gonna be here alone and I wanted to keep you company and you know, have a little fun. I mean it if finals week. I knew you'd be stressed. So I came here to help you relieve some of that stress." Twilight blushed once again and looked away.
Wow, that was quite a shocker I mean really Twilight, confessing your feelings for me after the fact that you forced yourself on me! Not that I was exactly displeased, but still your timing is impeccable. I decided to keep these thoughts in the back of my head for now. "So? You really do like me? Not that I don't already see that, you've made it quite apparent to me."
"I know, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, her voice slightly raised. "Its just that my feelings for you were so strong that I, well, wanted to show you in a spontaneous way! And, here I am!"
"Hmm, I can see that," I laughed, trying to act as cool as possible. Mom always did say to be a gentleman. I'd say that I'm doing pretty much that right now. "Why didn't you just tell me before? I would've gladly given it a shot with you."
"Yeah, but," She looks back at me with a sly grin and her seductress side came back. "Where's the fun in just telling you, when I could show you?"
"But in a library of all places?" I asked, gesturing to the room around us.
"I thought it'd be kinda exciting to do it in the middle of the library. Don't you think?" It was here that I was at an impasse. I could either tell her that no I did not think this was exciting, but wrong and maybe even unsanitary in a way. I mean having intercourse on top of a table in the library is kinda gross for the person who would be sitting at it. Or I could say that it does sound exciting, have some fun with the amorous bookworm, finally turn in my V-card, and also gain a potential love in the process. With that taken into consideration, the pros were heavily outweighing the cons. So I gave her my answer.
"Well, I don't know," I pulled her leg over my lap so that she was straddling me again and grabbed her hips. "I mean someone could walk in."
"Front door's locked," She said with a casual smile, dangling the keys in front of me.
"What about cameras?"
"There's no cameras in the library,"
"Back doors?"
"All locked, no one will come in and see us, I promise,"
"Huh, you know everything about this library don't you?" I mused, rubbing my hand along her leg, about to go up her skirt.
"I am the president of the Reader's club, so yes I do," She purred at me, slowly grinding on my lap.
"Well, in that case," I pulled her ever closer and kissed her on the lips as passionately as I could, our tongues dancing around the other. We sat there for several minutes, relishing in the heat of our passion our lips connected. A few times I reached under her skirt to grab her ass, to which she responded by letting out a cute squeak followed by a moan. At this point, I had already gained a painful hard on, and I was ready to get moving. But I wanted to enjoy kissing this beautiful girl so I let it continue. That was until she pulled away and slipped off my lap and onto her knees. I didn't know what she was up to at first, but when started to unbuckle my pants... I put the puzzle pieces together. "Whoa, what are you doing?" I must have sounded like a total loser.
"C'mon you're smart," She finished unbuckling my belt and was now working on the button and the zipper. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Instead of making myself sound even more dumb, I decided to keep my mouth shut and let her work. Soon enough, she got past the zipper and the button and was eyeing my blue boxers.
