English is not my native language so tell me if you find errors.I've been wanting to do a Kilalaverse fic since the start and Starbolt is my favourite couple.Let's see if I can make this thing justice.Please enjoy.
Dust Bath
It was a peaceful day in Ponyville.The sun shone bright, only a few clouds were around and Equestria´s youngest princess was practicing her utmost for the royal guard finals.
Dashing through the sky with her genetically distinct wings, Starburst Sparkle was really a sight of sore eyes.Green eyes to be exact.
“Cool moves, shorty!” Prism Bolt shouted as he admired her from where he was, lying on the outsides of town.
Starburst landed right in front of him with as much strength as she could muster, which wasn't much considering her size and height.
“DON'T CALL ME THAT, PRISM!”
“M´kay, sorry, grumpy pants”
She rolled her eyes as he started rolling around and shaking his wings off.Star raised an eyebrow
“What are you doing?”
“Taking a dust bath” He replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the whole world.
“Huh?”
“A dust bath.Come on, Star, don´t tell me you haven't took one before”
“Why would I want to? You look ridiculous!............I mean, more than usual”
“Typical Canterlot pegasus.All Cloudsdale and Ponyville pegasi do it”
“They do?”
“Aja.To get the oils and bugs out of feathers.It also makes preening easier and feels great”
The young mare shivered at the mere mentioning of bugs but didn´t acknowledged it
“Don´t believe you”
“C´me on, try it out! What do you have to lose?”
“Um, My dignity?”
“Buzzkill”
He had her right there.He knew Starburst for all his life and knew exactly how she felt when she heard the word.After half a minute, she sat down, just as expected.
“´Kay What now?”
“Just roll and flap your wings and stuff” He did just as he said, rolled around looking like a fool and Starburst couldn´t help but laugh.It was weird but a good weird, like aunt Pinkie Pie and her kids.She tried to do it herself and ended up with dirt in her nose.
“ACHOO!”
“Bless ya”
“Thanks………..Uh…………” She then noticed something in his nose that made her blush
“............Wha?”
“WHAT?! Oh……………..I…………..I´m not……………...Your band aid, you´re not wearing it”
Indeed, Prism always wore a band aid on his nose ever since he was kicked out of Wonderbolts Academy by none other than his ex.But now, he was not, leaving a nasty scar completely exposed to the world.
“AHH!” He screamed, and covered it up with his dark blue whooves “DON´T LOOK AT IT!!”
“What? W-Why? It looks cool………..Your scar, I mean”
“Uuuuhhh, thanks.”
She nodded and started rolling in the dirt again.He was the one blushing now, which made her giggle.
“ Wish I had a cool scar. I get injured all the time but have nothing to show for it.”
He shrugged “Meh, it's alright. You don't need to look anymore intimidating that you already do.”
They both laughed at that.
“I'll take that as a compliment.” Star smirked.
“Is good thing you´re hot ´Cause you´re really weird!” Prism said
She paused, her yellowish orange face completely red and angry now “WHAT?!” She hit him with her wings as hard as she could.
“OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY!! I TAKE IT BACK!! I´M SORRY!!” He yelled and she stopped “That was a compliment, ya know”
Star shook her head slowly and smirked “Dumb”
Priz patted her in the back “Boring”
She returned the pat “Doofus”
Another pat “Filly-sized”
Pat “Academy drop-out”
“THEY THREW ME OUT!”
“Sure, they did.Aunt Dash is probably head over whooves proud of ya” Her tone was filled with sarcasm but she, then, noticed she'd hurt him with that commentary.No, aunt Dash wasn't proud, and neither was her own mother.
“Oh……..I………..Sorry ´bout that, Priz”
“It´s……..Fine”
“No, it´s not.”
A silent minute passed over the two of them.They didn´t even move.After a while, Starburst talked, a sympathetic grin in her face:
“So……………..Weren´t you going to return the insult?”
He smiled back “Buzzkill”
“You already used that one”
“I did Didn´t I?”
More silence.Then, again, Star:
“Lokit me.I'm full of dirt, I´m a mess”
“Well, there's a lake not too far off.Race ya?”
“Yeah, Why not?”
They opened their wings and took it to the skies.
The two teen pegasus landed near the river at probably and arguably the same time.They took several deep breaths before Prism yelled:
“I WON”
Star rolled her eyes and jumped into the water, immediately followed by him.They flapped their wings under water a little and, after a while, Prism closed his eyes.
“This is SO much better than a dust bath, Isn't it?”
No response.
“Prism?” She looked back to find asleep and drowning.
“PRISM!”
She got him out and hit him with her wings.
“AUCH! That hurts!”
“You're welcome, Mary Jane!”
“Sorry, Star, thank you”
After a while of silence between them, she broke laughing
“What?”
“Me, of all ponies, saving someone who passed out” She said between giggles “Del would be so proud, y´know”
“Yeah, the poor guy, you´re always passing out on him.Must be annoying”
“Look who's talking”
They got out of the river and sat down beside it watching the sun set down.
“That late already?”
“Time flies”
“Yeah”
After a few minutes of silence, Prism wrapped a wing in Star´s back, making her red and mad again
“What's the big idea?”
“Eh……….Nevermind” He took his wing off of her.
More and more silence until the sun was finally off sight and Prism decided he should talk again.He cleared his troat several times and then:
“Em……………..Star?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you………………..How a…………………..Bout a date?”
Starburst looked at him and groaned, the look on her face able to give Crystal Clarity a run for her jewerly.And then, right there she closed her eyes, leaned in and kissed him full on the lips, leaving him in a shock.
It didn´t took long for them both to pull away the kiss and for Starburst to say:
“Took you so long”
