"All aboard to Canterlot!" The train conductor shouted. Rarity excitedly dragged a rack of dresses onto the train.
"I know he will think my new line is divine!" Rarity said to herself as she took a seat on the train. The train started to move, and Rarity saw Ponyville slowly fade out of distance. When the train was close to arriving in Canterlot, another pony on the train walked up to her.
"Wow! Did you make these dresses?" She asked, looking at Rarity's new line.
"Yes, I most certainly did!" Rarity responded with pride. The mare took out a sack of bits.
"I'll take these two! Well, if they're for sale!" She said, levitating the bits with her magic.
"I'm sorry, but I work for another stallion in Canterlot, and he wanted me to make a new line to display in his shop. I have to show up with all of these dresses when I see him. But thank you!" Rarity responded as the mare got an excited look.
"Wait... are you Rarity by any chance? The famous designer that works for Fancypants of Canterlot?" She asked as Rarity looked bewildered.
"Yes, I am Rarity, and-wait, did you say I'm famous?" She asked, her eyes widening.
"Why, of course, Miss Rarity! Your designs are the favored choice throughout Canterlot!" The mare responded. The train then arrived in Canterlot, stopping the two's conversation.
"Well, we're in Canterlot! See you around!" Rarity said as she took the dresses and stepped off the train. As she walked through the streets of Canterlot, she saw many ponies in the dresses she made.
"I suppose she wasn't lying. I'm a hit here!" Rarity said excitedly to herself. She then came across Fancypants' store, Canterlot Emporium. She stepped through the door, meeting eye contact with Fancypants.
"Miss Rarity! It's nice to see you again!" Fancy said, looking at the dresses Rarity brought.
"It's nice to see you too, Fancypants!" She greeted. The fancy stallion then walked over to the dresses, looking at the incredible detail Rarity put into her work.
"I used every shade of pink and purple I could find to make that one. Don't you agree that the colors blend well?" Rarity asked as Fancypants looked up at her.
"Rarity, this is amazing! I know your whole line will sell out in no time!" He complimented.
"Why, thank you!" She said, beaming with pride. Fancypants then started to hang her dresses up in the store.
"Is there anything new for you, Fancypants?" She asked the stallion.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Rarity! Fleur De Lis and I... went out separate ways three months ago," Fancypants responded as Rarity got a concerned look in her eyes.
"Goodness! I'm so sorry, Fancy!" She responded.
"It's fine Rarity. I just realized months ago that she was taking advantage of me. She was using my popularity and money to get whatever she wanted! She was already a famous supermodel, but used me to get even more! When I confronted her about it, she acted like I wasn't enough for her. I then threw down the line and ended it. To make it worse, a week after the break up, I saw her with another rich stallion, buying everything she wanted!" Fancypants explained, now getting a little angry.
"Oh goodness! I'm sorry she treated you like that!" Rarity said as Fancy tried to smile.
"I know... it wasn't a smart decision on her part. But I hope the new stallion treats her well."
"I hope she treats him well also!" Rarity responded, causing Fancypants to chuckle.
"Of course. Rarity, if you still have time, will you like to have lunch? I'm sure it was a long trip up here," Fancy offered to the designer.
"Now that I think about it, I am pretty hungry!" Rarity responded as Fancypants led her to a fancy restaurant. The two ate some of the most refined foods, and when they were done, Fancy decided to make his move.
"Um... Miss Rarity?"
"Yes, Fancypants?"
"Well, this may sound strange, but I have fallen in love with you. You are one of the most amazing mares I met, from your talent, generous personality, and your beauty, I honestly say you have stolen my heart. Will you be my special somepony?" He asked as Rarity's cheeks turned bright red.
"Of course, darling! And don't you worry, I won't treat you like Fleur. I promise!" She said, which caused Fancypants to smile. Rarity then looked at the clock on the wall. "It looks like I have to be heading back to Ponyville now! Say, how would you like to visit the Carousel Boutique in a few days? Since we are an item now, of course."
"I would love to, Rarity," he said. He then took her hoof and kissed it before walking her to the train. As Rarity boarded and waved goodbye to her special stallion, she felt butterflies flutter through her stomach.
"I love you, Fancypants..." she said to herself.
"Spike? Spike?" Twilight called. The purple dragon then bounded down the stairs.
"Number one assistant reporting for duty!" He said, mocking a royal guard.
"There you are! Rarity says that she needs help to clean the boutique, and she thought that you would be the first one to want to help!" Twilight explained.
"Alrighty!" He said. He then started shining his scales. Twilight looked at him, confused.
"What are you doing?"
"Shining my scales! I have to look my best whenever going to visit Rarity!" Spike responded, pointing at his newly shined tail. Twilight rolled her eyes.
"Alright. But you better be going."
"Yes, mam!" Spike saluted as he left the castle.
When he got to the Carousel Boutique, he saw another pony inside that looked particularly fancy. He knocked on the door as Rarity came over.
"Spikey-Wikey! You're here!" She greeted as Spike got a silly grin. He always loved it when she called him that. Fancypants then walked over to the door.
"Oh, hello, little fellow! What's your name?" Fancypants asked as Spike stood up tall.
"My name is Spike!" He greeted.
"Are you Spike the Brave and Glorious? The one who saved the Crystal Empire?" Fancypants asked. Spike got a look of pride on his face.
"In fact, I am! Saving the Crystal Empire twice is definitely title worthy!" Spike boasted. Fancypants chuckled.
"I bet it is! And pardon me, I never introduced myself! I am Fancypants, Rarity's special somepony," Fancy greeted as Rarity gave a small giggle.
"What! You two are special someponies?!" Spike questioned, his heart starting to break.
"Yes, Spikey! We are about to go on a date now! I need you here to actually get the guest room ready for Fancypants, if that's alright with you," Rarity informed an Spike's head dropped.
"Okay..." he said as he walked into the guest room. He looked out the window to see Rarity and Fancypants walking hoof-in-hoof. He looked away, fighting with all his might to hold in tears.
He was walking to the door of the Boutique when he heard the doorbell ring. He opened the door as Applejack came in.
"Hey, Spike! I don't suppose Rarity's here, I need her to-" Applejack then looked into Spike's eyes and saw a tear. "Are you alright, sugarcube?"
"Yes, I'm fine! Rarity wanted me to clean the guest room for her colt-friend while she's on a fancy-smancy date!" Spike explained as Applejack got a confused look on her face.
"When did Rarity get a special somepony?" She asked, surprised Rarity never told her.
"I'm not sure! But she has one!" Spike said as he pushed past Applejack, running to the castle. When he got to his room, he laid in bed, letting the tears fall. Twilight then walked in.
"Spike! Are you alright?" She asked as Spike turned away from her.
"Rarity has a special somepony..." Spike said between sobs.
"What? She never told anypony about a special somepony!" Twilight said. She then got back on track. "I'm sorry, Spike. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"No, I'm fine. Can you leave me alone, though?" He asked. Twilight got a sad look on her face as she closed the door.
Applejack walked into the throne room in the castle, sitting on the seat with her cutie mark on it. Twilight noticed her and came over.
"Hey, Applejack!" She greeted. The Element of Honesty got up from her seat.
"May I see Spike? He went through a tough time, if you don't know already," Applejack questioned as Twilight looked sad.
"I know. I feel horrible for him. Well, I guess you can go up to his room. He may not want to see anypony, though," Twilight informed as Applejack walked up to his room.
She opened the purple door and saw Spike curled up in his bed.
"Spike?" The dragon turned to face Applejack.
"What?"
"Spike, I know this is hard. But you need to look past it. How about you come to Sweet Apple Acres for lunch tomorrow? When I'm sad, an apple pie always helps me!" Applejack suggested.
"Alright. I hope I can get over it," Spike said as Applejack started to leave.
"You will. See you tomorrow!" Applejack said as she left.
"See you tomorrow, AJ..." Spike said before curling up in his blanket.
