In the familiar world that is Equestria, our favorite magical unicorn has been trying to cast a particularly difficult spell. The thing is, this spell is another of Starswirl the Bearded's unfinished spells with no clear desired result. Little did Twilight know that he spell was waiting for a certain time ripple to activate it.

Meanwhile, in another time of about three hundred years before Twilight's attempts, a familiar long-eared, blonde haired hero and his otsel friend are preparing to board a machine that has an even less clear purpose than Starswirl's spell…
