Perfect.
He gazed at his creations, all different expressions of himself and the world that surrounded him. All bursting with colors and life that he had painstakingly etched and commanded to satisfy his hungry mind. Ponet's eyes flickered briefly, betraying his happy thoughts as he remembered the almost completely nonexistent attention his paintings had gotten earlier. Nopony ever seemed to notice the work he created, and it had been like this for so very long. He loved to create just to give his thoughts and ideas a place outside of his mind in the real world, but at the same time, he'd wanted others to appreciate and understand his creations the way he happily did. A deep sigh escaped from the stallion as he gingerly picked up his paintings and settled them into the corner near his paints and easel. "Am I just being impatient? Too expectant?" He thought to himself as he pulled open the door and walked out of his home, heading toward Sugarcube Corner.
Why am I craving this attention?
He walked along the path into town slowly, stepping aside for other ponies who busily went about their day, taking care to not bump into anypony as he drank in the sights of Ponyville. Patterns and colors jumped out before his eyes, dancing and curling with the movements of passerby and igniting his thoughts, despite the darkness that clouded them. He shook his head slightly, muttering to himself as he walked into the brightly colored bakery and settled down into a seat. Almost immediately, he was greeted by the pink, energetic Pinkie Pie, who smiled warmly at him. "Hi hi hi! What can I get you today?" She leaned forward on the table, pastel rump wiggling slightly in anticipation. He couldn't help but chuckle, his eyes taking in the warm, cheery colors of her curly mane. "Just the usual, please." She nodded excitedly, then jumped away from the table, crashing back behind the counter to fix up his order. His smile slowly faded as he turned to look out the window, searching for the small scratches and patterns in the worn glass in an attempt to steady his shaky thoughts. Yet there they went, contradicting one another as he tried to validate his emotions that had been eating at him for so long.
How long...will things be like this?
