Quivering Star, un mage unicorne solitaire, atterrit de force avec sa tour volante à côté de Ponyville. Des évènements étranges centrés autour du moteur magique de la tour arrivent bien assez vite après son arrivée, et ce sera avec l'aide de son assistant récalcitrant et de six petites ponettes bien connues qu'il devra faire face à une menace à la fois personelle et globale.
