Chapter 1View OnlineFire consumes allChapter 1Scootaloo backed against the wall as her pursuers advanced towards her but as they raised a hoof to attacked there was a blur of motion they were knocked of and a stallion was standing in front of her. Before the other pegasi could stand up the stallion glowed brightly and they disappeared. Scootaloo shot up in her bed and felt tear in her eye but she quickly wiped them away. She rolled out of her bed and walked to the living room where Fluttershy was sitting. "You okay Scootaloo?" Fluttershy asked her. "I had a nightmare." Scootaloo replied softly. Fluttershy patted the spot beside her and Scootaloo laid down beside her. "Do you miss her Fluttershy?" Scootaloo asked her. "I think about Dashie everyday Scoots." Fluttershy told her. "It wasn't your fault what happened to her." "If I had just listened, Rainbow Dash wouldn't be in the hospital." Scootaloo replied as her voice threatened to crack. Fluttershy draped a foreleg around Scootaloo's shoulder and they stayed like eventually falling asleep beside each other like they did a few nights before. Scootaloo hugged Fluttershy before leaving the house to where Sweetie Belle and Applebloom were waiting. "So what's up for today?" Applebloom asked her. "I don't really feel up to working on my Cutie Mark today girls." Scootaloo told them. "Another nightmare?" Sweetie Belle asked her. Scootaloo only nodded as she sat down roughly. The other two girls hugged her tightly and she felt a lump form in her throat. She choked it down as the girls separated from her and looked at her "I think I'm just going to go for a walk and think." Scootaloo told them. They both nodded and let her pass them as her mind roared. "Scootaloo, we're closing up." Pinkie Pie told her. "I can walk you home." "Its okay, it's not too far." Scootaloo told her as she slid out of the seat. Scootaloo exited the Sugar Cube Corner and walked quickly down the sidewalk for awhile before she noticed a few Pegasi following her. Her mind flashed back to her nightmare last night and she quickened her pace. The others followed in her suit and she quickened to a full on gallop as she turned around a corner into an alleyway. Suddenly something tripped her underfoot and she tumbled head over hoof but when she tried to stand up a fire-like pain shot up her left leg. She scooted away as quickly as she could until her back touched a wall. Her stomach dropped as she saw that she had ran into a dead end as the Pegasi closed in on her "Easy pickings tonight boys." The lead guy told them causing them to snicker. To her shocked the lead Pegasus was using magic to hold a knife above his head and was swinging it lazily. She was so absorbed in the magic that she didn't notice the knife until the guy plunged it into her stomach. A scream ripped its way out of her throat and it got worse as the guy slowly drug the knife out. Before he could stab her again he was thrown against the wall by an invisible force. The other two guys were shocked at first but then they just ran at Scootaloo and started kicking and punching her. As her vision started to blur she saw the two guys get thrown to the side and disintegrated when they hit the ground. Soon another guy came walking over to her and crouched down beside her. He pulled down the bandana and smile slightly at her. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not smiling at your pain it's your strength that impresses me." The guy told her. "My name is Orion, blink once if you want my help." Scootaloo blinked and Orion easily scooped her up onto his back and kept talking to her as he galloped to the hospital. Soon they were at the hospital and Fluttershy rushed into and looked at Scootaloo. "Are you alright?" Fluttershy asked her. "I hurt all over, but I'm alive." Scootaloo told her. Orion sighed as his necklace flashed and he stood up. "I have to go." Orion told them. "So quickly?" Fluttershy asked him. "I have errands I have to run, Scootaloo you need to rest." Orion told her. Scootaloo nodded as she watched Orion leave the room. "He's definitely different." Fluttershy told Scootaloo. "Did you ever see what he looked like?" At that moment Scootaloo realized that she never more than his mouth and even that was blurred due to blood loss. She must have laughed because Fluttershy looked at her funny, but soon she felt the medicine go to work as she dozed off
Chapter 2View OnlineFire consumes allChapter 2Orion looked across the field at his targets as the com device buzzed softly in his ear. "Hunter are you in position?" Shining Armor asked him. "Eeyup, I have eyes on the targets in sight." Orion replied. "Stay your bullets until you have sight on the Intel." Shining Armor told him. "Of course." Orion replied as he looked through the scope of his rifle. "The convoy is arriving." Shining Armor replied. "Switching to thermal." Orion replied as flipped the switch on the side of his scope. He peered into the first carriage and sighed as he looked into the rest. "I spot the intel, I'm going in for a closer look." Orion told them. "Be careful, you might be able change like them but one slip and this whole situation goes to hell." Shining Armor told him. "Yeah, yeah, keep your panties on straight." Orion replied as he changed into a Changling. He slung the rifle over his shoulder as he approached the encampment. As he got to the perimeter he pulled out the mic and slipped it into the clip of his rifle. When he approached the carriage he was looking for a group of Changlings got in his way. "What are thinking of doing?" The main Changling asked him. "I got important news for Queen Chrysalis." Orion told as door swung open. "Come in, this should be good." Chrysalis told him inside the carriage. Orion pushed pass the Changlings and took a seat inside the carriage across from Chrysalis. "No one can see or hear us from in here so you might as well as chang back." Chrysalis told him. Orion let the illusion dissolve and Chrysalis clicked her tongue. "Why do you cover your form?" Chrysalis asked him. "It's none of your business." Orion replied. "But my beautiful little stallion it'll always be my business since you have my power." Chrysalis told him. "The art of war is an interesting thing." Orion replied as he shifted the rifle on his shoulders. "It truly is, but war is not without its losses." Chrysalis told him. "Don't go all philosophical on me; you know why I'm here." Orion replied. "Pegusi gaining a higher understanding of magic that is interesting." Chrysalis pondered. "Never the less I have no useful information but my offer still stands." Orion pulled the clip out of her rifle slipped the Mic back into his ear and pulled out one of the bullets. Suddenly screaming and yelling started outside but before Chrysalis could move he twisted the bullet and a nerve gas flowed out. Orion leaned back in the carriage as Shining Armor talked to Cadence through a magic hologram and he groaned. "What's wrong?" Cadence asked him. "I saved a young female Pegasus a few days ago, and this is affecting her as well." Orion replied. "Well, you secured Chrysalis so she hopefully has some answers for us." Shining Armor told him. "I hope your right." Orion replied. "I should really get back to the girl see how she's handling." They only nodded as Orion disappeared. "He's pained." ShIning Armor told her. "I fear it will end up affecting his performance in the field." "He's lonely." Cadence replied. "He needs someone outside all the fighting." "Hopefully he finds someone." Shining Armor replied. "We need him to be in his best when the time comes." Orion climbed through the window and fell into the room cursing quietly. He got to his feet and looked around the room before sitting down beside Scootaloo. She stirred slightly and looked over at him. "What took you so long?" Scootaloo asked him. "The errands took a while longer than I expected." Orion replied as he yawned. He opened on of his saddlebags and pulled out an earring. "This'll pinch but youll be able to contact me no matter the distance." Orion told her. He quickly pushed the earing through her ear and put the holder on the needle. "How do i contact you?" Scootaloo asked him. "Just think of my name." Orion told her. "And Scootaloo, stay out of trouble." She only nodded as she watched him climb back out the window.
Chapter 3View OnlineFire consumes allChapter 3Orion slid down the roof slowly as he pulled back the hood of his suit to let his black mane fall down and he shook it out. "I guess this is what i get for never getting a haircut or anything." Orion chuckled as he tied back his mane. "Lets what the future holds, eh?" He pushed up his sunglasses and one event flashed before him again. He was dead and fire raged around him razing all of Equestria; a fire only he could stop. He pushed his sunglasses back down and sat down roughly as he looked back on his life so far. "What's the point?" He asked himself. He knew that even if he saved the world once again that he still be alone, no matter how hard he tried his past came back to get him. It always harmed those he cared about and he had long before decided that he'd never put anyone through the pain again. He coughed and shook his head violently before standing up. Orion knew he had to finish his job before anyone else got hurt even if he died in the process. Orion walked slowly through the hospital greeting each worker and patient and exchanging a few friendly words with them until he got to Scootaloo's room. He stop when he got to the closed door and kept him from knocking before turning around and walking off. He couldn't drag another soul in his problem especially someone as young as Scootaloo, she'd probably hate him for it but it was necesary. Soon he was back at Canterlot and he walked up to Luna who was waiting for him outside the gates. "Why are you back so soon?" Luna asked him. "I don't see the reason for me staying somewhere I'd put hundreds of ponies at risk." Orion replied. "You can't stay cooped up in your room for the rest of your life Orion, you'll need to be to intergrate to regular society after the war is over." Luna told him. "Not if I'm destined to destroy the world afterwards." Orion replied. "Orion, that is something you can change." Luna told him. "Are you sure?" Orion asked her before pushing past her. He fell onto the couch in his room and groaned as someone knocked on the door. "Come in." Orion called. Shining Armor walked into the room and stood at attention. "Relax man." Orion told him. "I might be your super, but we're friends." Shining Armor relaxed and looked at him. "Are you alright?" Shining Armor asked him. "Define alright." Orion replied. "Sane, I've seen what war can do to people." Shining Armor replied. "You don't have to worry about me." Orion told him. Shining Armor nodded and sighed. "The reason I'm here is because Cadence wants to talk to you." "Then why isn't she here?" Orion asked him. "Your place gives her the creeps, to tell you the truth." Shining Armor replied. Orion shrugged before disappearing and Shining Armor shivered slightly before leaving the room. Orion looked at Cadence as she placed around the room for a moment before looking at him. "I guess you know why i want to talk to you." Cadence told him. "Either my love life, which is none existant; or Chrysalis." Orion replied. "Chrysalis can wait, she isn't going anywhere." Cadence told him. "Tell me, are you interested in a mare?" "Shouldn't you be able to tell?" Orion asked her. "After the first time to test your aptitude, all three of us vowed to never go into your mind again as to our agreement." Cadence replied. Orion huffed as he sat down and looked at her. "Does it really matter?" Orion asked her. "Everyone needs a mate." Cadence told him. "You may be called the God of war, but you're still a mortal." "I don't need someone holding me back." Orion replied. "Or are you afraid of showing compassion?" Cadence asked him. "I didn't come here to be interrogated." Orion hissed. Cadence threw up her hooves in frustration. "We can't help you if you don't let us." Cadence told him. "I never said i wanted y'alls help." Orion growled. Before she could reply he spun on his heels and stalked out of the room. He didn't know where his hooves were leading him until he was staring at Chrysalis. "What gives me the honor to be graced by your presence?" She asked him. "I'm in a rut." Orion replied. "I'm looking for answers that i wont get here." "Why do you think I'd give you the answers?" Chrysalis asked him. "Because I have information you want." Orion replied as he unlocked the door and walked in. Chrysalis watched him closely as he sat down in front of her. "Let me guess the answer to my next question, war changes." Chrysalis replied. "No priorities change, war never truly changes." Orion replied. "Not even if you flip on its head?" Chrysalis asked him. "Enemies change, ways of war change, but war itself is war plain and simple." Orion replied. "Fine, I see your point, so whats your question?" Chrysalis asked him. "The pegasus." Orion replied. "Ah, yes, the Pegasus gaining their advanced magic." Chrysalis cooed. "It certainly is interesting." Orion mutter a few unruly words under his breath before glaring at her. He pushed up his sunglasses and she grinned before he slammed her against the wall. "I'm tired of you running me in circles." Orion growled. "I'm sick and tired of all of you running me in circles like this is some kind of game to you." Chrysalis relaxed slightly before placing a hoof on his fore leg. "Look, Orion I understand your frustration." Chrysalis told him. "The mare you fall in love with always dies and you can't do anything about. Sure i might not have all the answer but I have more than they're willing to share." Orion loosened his grip and Chrysalis collapsed to the ground. "I'll be back tonight, I need to calm down or I'd probably kill you." Orion told her before leaving.
