Dear Princess Celestia,
today I awoke from a dream.
I know, now that I am awake, I am not an important pony anymore. I am not wearing the title of a princess anymore. I am writing you because I want to tell you that I finally found out what my cutiemark is supposed to represent. Many ponies find it out before they get it, but when mine appeared on my flank, I thought it was supposed to represent that I was destined to become an author.
I love writing so I thought it might be it, but something seemed off abut it. I never had much success with it like the others with their talents. That is why I soon let the idea down and found out my talent for drawing. But it was neither supposed to represent my skills in drawing.
My mother started telling me that weird things happened at night. Little ponies, animals and dream like creatures running around the house, disappearing when I awoke... My magic made my dreams come real. I wanted to know more about it and wrote to your sister, Princess Luna. She replied and we met. But she couldn't help me to control it. She wasn't able to go into my dreams either.
I remember her saying to me, that I should wait and time will explain this to me. But that was the day before I fell asleep for a long time... Nopony started wondering. They thought I was awake, but I had become someone else. I was an alicorn with a story and personality that was different to who I really was. I lived years in just a few days. I had a foal that was also just made out of my dreams. Everything felt so real. I felt when I hugged other ponies, I felt when I talked to them. I felt everything... But I didn't feel it myself, I felt it through someone else that I imagined, someone I wanted to be. I wanted to be perfect. Like a princess...
Maybe all these ponies wonder where this pony went... But it is no longer existing. I am not that pony, even if they maybe want me to. But thanks to all of them. Heavensky, Soul Harmony, Darklight Shimmer, Thunder Twirl and Death Angel. Everypony has dreams. Everypony dreams something different, but we all have to decide whether we want it to become a good dream or a nightmare. I can't decide whether it was a dream or a nightmare. But I will keep all those good memories. Even if it means that I will keep the bad ones as well. I have experienced true friendship. I have seen magic and I have seen dark magic and hate. The good wouldn't exist without the bad. So a dream is a nightmare as well, just to make it harmonic.
What I actually wanted to tell you... My cutiemark. It's not the feather, it is the blank paper. It means, that our minds are free and the feather represents that we are the ones that write the story, nopony else. We have to write it, not the pony we want to be. We have co-authors and ponies that will judge your work. Like any other author. At the end of the story we hand it over to the next generation, saying proudly: This is my life. Keep it going with your own.
