The Second Floor

Previous Chapter

You ascend into the darkness, your torch barely makes the darkness vanish. You climb the last stair and you face a corridor with a ripped and faded carpet. Old pictures hanging on the walls. You examine one, it shows the family on a beach, the same scary filly with the black rings around her eyes was standing away from her parents. A bump distracts you, you turn and see a pair of rats running out of a door frame, the feeling that you are being watched increases dramatically. You pull out your revolver and slowly move toward the door. You turn and are immediately shocked. This room appears to be the little filly's. The wallpaper is ripped and scratched, everything looks so abnormal. There are strange drawings on the wall. You look at one of them.

There is a carving of what appears to be the family, but the filly is standing holding an object. Then it moves to the parents lying dead and the girl crying. There is a lot of these carvings in this room. You hear a noise and turn around to see a figure. Not the one from downstairs, this one was smaller and has a black mane. It is the filly! You stare at it. It doesn't move. Tears of fear run down your face and you open fire upon the form. It vanishes and you stand there hearing the sound of the shot echo throughout the run down house. In your mind, the brave adventurous side clashes with the scared side. You stand there trying to think of what to do. The ambience in the house vanishes as if the ghosts are scared of your weapon. You slowly walk forward, more shivers run down your spine. Your shirt is now fully drenched, you pull out the camera and switch it on. The digital beep gives you more confidence. You switch it on and hold it with your magic along with the torch light. You begin to narrate.

The camera gives you enough confidence and you proceed. You look around the house, examine the other rooms and film your ghostly encounters. You approach the last room and open the door. Inside is a portrait of the business stallion and a smashed window. You look around, the room smells of dust and blood. You examine the portrait, you can hear ponies whispering, you look out the window but see no one.

Satisfied that you broke your strict no-scary policy you begin to walk back when the portrait falls down with a thud. Behind is a hole, you examine it to find a fancy revolver with a leather handle. You pull out the chamber, 3 bullets are missing. Underneath the revolver is a letter.

Seven O'Clock. October 1960

As an important business stallion, it is my duty to report to my employer. But I cannot, there is one thing I need to do, One very impor...

The ink was too faded to see. You hear a scream and a form appears right in front of you. It is the filly, she stares at you with the scary awkward smile. You stand there for a second and scream. You gallop down the stairs and smash through the door, you pass the metal fence and gallop as far as you can from the ghostly house. You switch your camera off and put it away.

You did it! You say as you come to a gentle trot. You enter the city centre. The other ponies pay no attention to you.

You figured out the mystery of The House.
