The young filly hyperventilated, panic filling every domain of her body in its thickness, dread and terror taking its toll. “Look everywhere! dont let her get away!” A furious voice called from near by, deep, and angry. The filly continued to panic, attempting to slow her quick, sharp breaths. A candle light burned in the distance, the filly backed further into her small corner pure horror enlisted on her face. “Shhh” Clearly a mares voice whispered from the shadows, “its ok” the voice encouraged now coming closer towards the young foal. “I’m not going to hurt you, I’m here to help”. The mare was close enough for her face to be dimly seen in the soft candle light. Underneath a navy blue cloak, a light grey Unicorn, with an ombre coloured mane and crystal blue eyes, illuminated in the darkness. “My name is Sapphire”. The unicorn smiled warmly, her eyes reassuring the foal. The unicorn beckoned the filly forward, before turning her back and walking away slowly. Almost knowingly, the young mare followed close behind. Sapphire navigated her way through the forest at the dim light of the candle, determination spread across her face, seemingly weary amongst the shadowy trees. The silence was quickly broken. “This way! I saw her go this way!” came a pessimistic voice near by. “They’ve found us” Sapphire whispered. Author's Note Theres the first chapter! She extended her hoof to the foal beside her. “Run”. She breathed in her ear. The pair trotted away from their current position, not looking back. The candle light quickly went out and they left it behind in the dust. Running through darkness. pure, darkness. Only the faint outline of trees allowing them to navigate around them. It was like going on through an endless circle. Nowhere to hide. The only option was to run. Finally stopping, Sapphire and the little filly looked at their dark surroundings. The cold night air breezing through their coats. The young filly gave a soft whimper. “Hey, shh shh, its alright. Everything will be OK”. Sapphire reassured the poor foal. “I-I’m scared”. The filly said giving Sapphire a reproachable look. “I know. And I am too. But you must listen to me, and listen well. I will keep you safe. Nothing in all of Equestria will hurt you”. The filly nodded in approval of this statement. Her breathing quieting. Silence fell. They were alone. “I think we’re safe..” Sapphire continued, breaking the silence. “Follow me”. She said warily trotting into the thick trees. Sapphire and the young foal trotted onwards, looking back and forth keeping an eye out for any guards. Sapphire let out a deep exasperated sigh.” we’re here”. She smiled looking up at a small cave hidden in the tall mountain above. “Come on”, she smiled to the filly her gentle voice calling her. Now at the entrance to the cave, The young mare had a closer look. The cave was dark, damp, and dirty. Rugged stones poked out from the sides and edges, and deeper inside there seemed to be a small light becoming, and echoing warmth. “Come now”. Sapphire reassured the nervous foal taking her by the hoof and entering the cave. “Sapphire!” cheered a happy group of ponies of all kinds. Earth ponies, Unicorns, even Pegasi were huddled together around the warmth of the beckoning fire. “Y-you came back!” cried a teary foal, jumping into Sapphires arms, embracing her in a hug. “Of course I did, do you really think I would leave my little brother behind?” she laughed nuzzling the young foal gently. “Who’s that?” said a nervous looking filly pointing in the other fillies direction. “Oh thats-” Sapphire paused. “Hey, I never did catch your name”. she continued looking down at the now flustered filly. “My name is Amethyst”. The filly replied anxiously. "And- I.." She paused. Tears streamed down the fillies face staining her light purple coat. She ran off, painful memories filling her head with pain. Water dripped aimlessly to the stone ground. Amethyst sat and watch the droplets run down the spikes of the cave, quavering before falling and landing with a drip on the ground. Amethyst thought back upon Sombra's doing. His red, bloodshot eyes flashed in her mind. His freakish smile as he looked down upon the foal. The sober look as he whispered unmercifully "kill her". Then she remembered running. She remembered panic. She remembered pain. She- "Ouch!" Cried Amethyst holding a hoof to her head, her heartbeat slowing and he mind quickening. "Where did that pain come from?" she thought aloud. "Amethyst?" She heard a familiar mare call worriedly down the caves caverns. Amethyst stood up and trotted further into the cold, dark cave. Her mind wondering again. She thought of what it was like before Sombra lost it. As she galloped on she closed her eyes in an attempt to recollect these memories. "Thyst!" called an annoyed stallion now losing his patience with her sisters tom foolery. What was holding her up? "Coming!" replied a squeaky, hyper voice. Now appearing the owner of the voice was "Thyst" a lovingly given nickname short for Amethyst. "There you are". said a tall dark looking stallion, his face solemn and hard. Amethyst reduced her confidence with this stallion, with drawing from his gaze. "Mother wants you". He said coolly, trotting away from Amethyst with a look of what could be called, "grumpiness" on his face. The fillies attitude brightened, a smile re-appearing lightning up the mares face. "Yea, whatever". The stallion grunted under his breath now trotting into the distance, of the long endless hallway. Amethyst skipped to the thrown room merrily. Now appearing at the large, golden oak colored door, leading to the thrown room. Amethyst gently knocked (3 times not 4, she recounted in her head) and waited patiently for someone to answer. "Amethyst?" Amethyst pulled herself back to reality. She was freezing. She called wearily back, "yes?" whilst getting herself from the floor and dusting off. "Omigosh Amethyst! Don't you know not to run into an un-explored, dark cave with no one with you?" The young filly from earlier recounted. "Sorry". Said Amethyst sarcastically, "Never really thought about it before, hence the fact I've never been in such a situation. I'll take a closer look at your suggestion next time". The filly gave her a puzzled look. "I like you. You're funny". The filly chuckled vibrantly. Holding out a brown, hoof the filly smiled and continued "I'm Scarlett Dusk".
