Prologue: Hoover Dam

The Courier walked away from Hoover Dam, as NCR troopers finished off the last of the Legion troopers that hadn't commited suicide, or ran away in fear. Following him was his faithful canine companion Rex, and Craig Boone, a retired 1st Recon Sniper who had just gotten his job back. The Courier slowed down, and slipped off his duster, revealing his computerised armour known as the Stealth Suit Mk II. The Courier looked down at his suit, and smiled.

'Thanks for keeping me patched up there. I wouldn't have survived without you,' said the Courier.

The Stealth Suit responded with, 'Thanks, but I wish you didn't have to wear that other clothing over the top. The heat almost melted my processors.'

The Courier chuckled. 'Sorry, but I had a promise to keep.' He looked up, and in the direction of the place known as The Divide. 'A promise to someone who taught me many things, but who also learned many things from me.' The Courier took out his Laser Detonator. 'I remember that adventure. This old tool, had it's uses, now it just sits here gathering dust.' He held it to his chest. 'Maybe one day, I will return, and it will find use once again.'

The Courier turned around and faced Boone.

'Hell yeah!' yelled Boone. 'We beat those legionaries good!'

The Courier chuckled. 'That doesn't sound like you Boone. What did you do with the real Boone?'

'Sorry, it's just that beating the Legion felt so damn good!' said Boone in a slightly calmer manner.

The Courier smiled. 'Yeah, I know the feeling.' He turned to Rex and kneeled down, scratching him behind the ear. 'How's my favourite cyberdog feeling?'

Rex barked and panted in response. The Courier smiled again. 'Well, I think it's time I visit some old friends.'
