"Yep, this should be the place." A silver coloured Pegasus mare stood in front of a two-story building with a taller warehouse behind it. Above the doors hung a big sign that said : "Packaging and Co. The best packing service in Equestria!". Shine Stripe stood in front of the company with a scrap of paper in her hand. Stripe was a silver pegasus, with a similar but slightly duller coloured mane. In her mane were also streaks of cyan blue, and on her face was a pair of thin-framed blue glasses, which sat in front of her clear blue eyes.
She sighed deeply.
"I really hope this works out." She hugged herself with her arms. "If I don't get money soon, I'll be homeless!" She slapped herself on both cheeks with her hands. "No. Come on Shine, you can do this. Just walk in there, and walk out with a job!" After she said this, she pushed the doors open and went inside the building.
It didn't take long for Shine to get lost inside the hallways of the building, but after walking for half an hour, she finally gathered the courage to ask one of the few employees there for directions to the office of the company's boss, Penned Gambit, who she had her intake appointment with. The door to the office was at the end of a long, generic looking hallway. Shine walked down the hallway and stopped in front of the door. the door was a dark brown, and had a dark grey name plate that said: Penned Gambit, CEO. She gulped.
This is no time to be nervous Shine, give a smile, go in there, and show 'em the best you!
Shine smiled, and knocked on the door.
"Come on in!" she heard from inside. It was a smooth, and a somehow reassuring voice. It gave her a funny feeling, but she dismissed it, and went inside.
"Hi there, Shine Stripe was it?" Penned Gambit said. Gambit was a purple coated Pegasus, with a black and purple mane that extended to just above her piercing crimson eyes. Shine couldn't help but be slightly mesmerized by them. Because of this, it took a while before she could get something of an intelligent answer formulated.
"Um, uh, yes, yes, that's me. Shine Stripe." She stuttered with a sheepish smile. "I'm the one who sent you the letter concerning the job offer."
Gambit gave her a friendly smile. "Wonderful!" She stood up and walked around the desk. She extended her hand to Shine Stripe. "Penned Gambit, CEO of Packaging and Co. How do you do?"
Shine returned the smile and reached her hand out to Gambit's. "I'm doing well, thank you."
"Good, good" Gambit said while nodding. She turned back to her desk and grabbed a case file off of it. She flipped it open and started reading a few parts. "Well, I've had at your resume, and I must say, I'm very interested in you. If you don't have any questions, we can get started immediately."
Shine looked at Gambit, completely flabbergasted.
Well, that was a lot easier than I thought.
"I do have one question though." She said, after regaining control of her lower jaw.
Gambit threw the file back on the desk and turned to Shine. "Yes, what is it dear?"
Shine shuddered. She didn't know whether it was the temperature of the room, or the fact that her new boss just called her "dear". Something about the latter didn't sit right with her.
"Well, I was wondering what exactly I will be doing here." She inquired. "Your website wasn't exactly clear on that." She was also wondering why they needed all sorts of weird measurements of her body, like the exact length of her lower and upper legs, but she figured that would be explained in the same answer.
"Oh, don't you worry about that, dear, you'll find out as soon as you get started." Gambit replied.
Shine hummed. "All right, and about the payment?"
Gambit walked over to the door. "Your payment will be deposited on your bank account every month. Now come along, the sooner we can get started, the sooner you can get used to the swing of things around here. Come on, chop-chop."
Shine Stripe quickly nodded and scurried out the door, not wanting to already make her boss mad with her for not even carrying out the simplest task. She followed Gambit through a door on the left of the hallway she walked through on the way to Gambit's office. The door was a tough iron door with strong bolts. Gambit entered a password into a little keyboard on the side of the door, and entered a key into the door, which undid the bolts and opened the door. She then turned to Shine Stripe and smiled.
"Alright, you go through here, and the job will then be self-explanatory." She turned and started walking away. She waved back at Shine Stripe and waved at her. "Good luck, and do close the door behind you, will you?"
Shine tried to get her attention, but Gambit was already around the corner and out of earshot. She sighed, and turned to the still unlocked iron door.
"Well, here goes nothing." she said, as she went through the door.
Shine stepped through the door and was met with surprisingly little. She couldn't see very far ahead, because there weren't any lights on. She took a few shaky steps forward, hoping she wouldn't bump into anything or anyone. It slowly became even darker. Shine wondered why this was, until she realized that the door she came through slowly closed. She ran back to the door to try and catch in its tracks. She reached the door before it closed, but even when leaning back all the way she couldn't keep the door open. It pulled itself closed, slowly but surely extinguishing the only source of light in the room. She tried to open the door, but found that the door was just a solid sheet of metal from this side.
"Oh you have got to be joking." She whined to herself. Above the door, a mechanical eye sprang to life, and looked around, seemingly looking for the source of the sound, until it noticed Shine Stripe sitting right under it.
"New target found. Preparing holding arms. Prepared. Preparing utensils and holding box." Further on in the room, there was the sound of some shuffling and the movement of metal objects. "Prepared."
Shine turned around at the sound that came from the back of the room. "Hello, is anybody there?" She slowly walked further into the room. "Hello?" The shuffling continued. "If this is some sort of initiation prank, I am not amused." She continued walking until she felt the ground under her change from concrete to metal. She was wondering what the strange floor was she was standing on when suddenly all the lights in the room turned on and blinded her. She raised her arms in front of her eyes and tried to shield them. When she got used to the light all she saw were lots of boxes.
Big stacks of metal shipping crates, at least a few hundred that were all stored in the warehouse. As she looked down to see what the floor under her was, 4 metal arms shot out of the floor and grabbed her wrists and ankles, and pulled her into a spread eagle position. More of the arms came and tore the clothes of her body, and she was left hanging naked in the cold air of the warehouse, blushing a crimson red.
She looked down to the floor she was just standing on and saw that it was a circular platform, made of a shiny metal, with all sorts of sliding panels on it. It closed around her torso, and two other arms came to help her wings through holes in the swinging side of the box that would go on her back. Going from the arm that arose from the ground to the box around her torso, Shine noticed a transparent hose.
