Braveheart: The Untold Stories
Chapter 29: Day of Chaos
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSomething felt off when I woke up the next morning. I rolled over and climbed out of bed. Nothing seemed different. Still a bit groggy, I walked into the kitchen and made myself some breakfast. I shook my head hard, trying to wake up. I had an errand to run, so I ate quickly. As I finished, I stood up and walked out the door, only to find myself falling. I quickly opened up my wings and stopped my fall.
“Well, if I wasn’t awake before, I sure am now,” I muttered to myself. I looked back up to my house, or rather down. My house was upside down and apparently my personal gravity was reversed. The ponies down on the ground walked normal, only confused as to why my house was upside down. I flew back down, or up, to my house. I opened the door and walked back inside. I stood normal on the floor. I heard a laugh behind me. One I knew all too well. I let out a sigh.
“You should have seen yourself,” the voice said. “That was priceless.”
“Good to see you too, Discord,” I growled. I turned around and glared at the draconequus. He was lying on the ceiling, his gravity normal. He was laughing his ass off, clearly entertained by the shock of my fall.
“So, you awake now?” he gasped between giggles.
“Yes,” I grumbled. “Thanks. What do you want?”
“Oh, not much,” Discord said. “Just a bit of fun, that’s all.”
“That wasn’t funny,” I hissed. “Fix this. Now.”
“Oh, Braveheart,” Discord groaned, rolling his eyes. “You’re just like Celestia. So boring.” At that, I whipped out my revolver and pointed it at his head. His eyes went wide.
“Don’t you dare insult Celestia’s spirit,” I stormed. Discord suddenly remembered.
“Oh, that’s right,” he said. “Both she and Luna were killed. I’m terribly sorry.”
“Oh don’t play innocent,” I groaned, waving away a halo above Discord’s head. “You could care less.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” Discord agreed. Furious, I sheathed my gun and sat down at my table. Discord teleported down to the other side of the table. He gave me a serious look.
“What?” I asked, still pretty pissed.
“Fluttershy told me about Sunset Shimmer,” he said, sympathy in his voice. “I know that she died. And for that, I truly am sorry. Really.” I gave Discord a look. He gave a small nod, confirming his stand on the matter. I sighed. “So she sent me over to try and cheer you up.”
“Well apparently your idea of funny isn’t the same as mine,” I grumbled. “Turn my house around, if you please.” Discord snapped his claw. Nothing seemed to change. I walked over to a window and looked outside. The ground was where it should be. I nodded.
“Better,” I mumbled. I turned around to find Discord gone. I looked around. He was nowhere in sight. “All right, where are you?” I called.
“And now I want to play a little game,” Discord said, very close to my ear. I turned my head to see him about 6 inches tall standing on my left wing’s armor plate. I smirked and flung my wings open, sending him flying into the window. He peeled himself free and grew back to normal size in an instant.
“What game?” I asked.
“A simple one,” Discord explained. “A variation of hide and seek, actually. What will happen is one of us will be the hunter, and the other will be the prop.”
“Prop?” I asked, confused.
“The game is called Prop Hunt,” Discord said. “The hider will disguise themselves as props and hide around Canterlot. The hunter has four minutes to find them and kill them. Not literally of course.”
“Very well,” I agreed. “I’ll play your little game.” Discord promptly disappeared and I suddenly couldn’t see. A small timer in the corner of my eye counted down from 45 seconds. When it reached zero, my vision returned. I pulled out my revolver and started looking around.
“Oh, I forgot to mention,” Discord said, his voice in pure surround sound. “No flying and no magic.” At that, there was a pop, and I dropped my revolver. I looked into a mirror and found my wings and horn gone. My eyes narrowed and my teeth barred. “Find me, and you get your wings and horn back,” Discord finished. “Good luck.”
“DISCORD!!!” I cried. I picked up my gun in my teeth and stormed out the door, colliding with Twilight Sparkle.
“Oh! Sorry about that, Braveheart,” she said. She immediately noticed my wings and my horn gone. “Wait, what happened to your wings and horn?!” she cried. I put my gun away for a moment.
“Discord,” I grumbled. “I have to find him in a game of glorified hide and seek to get them back.”
“I can help,” Twilight offered.
“I’ll be all right,” I declined. “Really.”
“OK then,” Twilight shrugged. “See you later.” I waved as Twilight flew off, and I continued my search for Discord.
I walked into an empty supermarket. I looked carefully for anything suspicious.
“Where are you?” I called.
“I’m not in the freezer,” Discord called back. I ran for the freezer and opened up the door. I walked inside and looked around. Nothing was out of the ordinary, so I left. When I walked back into the main room, one of the refrigerator doors was open that wasn’t before.
“Were you in one of the fridges?” I asked.
“Maybe,” Discord said. I looked toward the second isle to the left and saw a small coffee cup jump into the air.
“Last time I checked, coffee cups don’t jump,” I smirked. I ran over and shot the cup. It disappeared and Discord reappeared with a cardboard box in his claw.
“All right, you win,” he said. “In the box are your wings and horn. I hope you enjoyed yourself.”
“I sort of did,” I agreed. I touched the box, and my wings and horn returned. Discord disappeared, and I left the supermarket. Fluttershy was waiting for me at the entrance.
“Hello, Braveheart,” she said with a smile. “Do you feel better?”
“Yeah,” I said. “I do.”
“That’s good to hear,” Fluttershy said. “I planned out the whole day.”
“Thank you,” I said. “Thank you for everything today.”
“My pleasure,” Fluttershy nodded. She flew off for home, as did I. I think that run-in with Discord was an interesting way to get me into a better mood.
