A Night of Romance

"OK, I'll see you in a bit, Flutters. Bye!"

Rainbow Dash had just finished a near three-hour phone call. She slammed her telephone back on its hook and quickly ran upstairs to get ready. Today was the day, and Rainbow Dash was prepared for it. She had even forced herself to wake up early and refused taking her common naps on clouds. The only time anypony would see Rainbow Dash up at 11:00 in the morning on days she didn't have to work was on a day she greatly desired. But, what was that day? Was it the day Spitfire was going to name her the Captain of the Wonderbolts? Was it the day A.K. Yearling was going to permanently feature her in all of her "Daring Do" books? Was it the day Princess Celestia was going to transform her into an Alicorn Princess like she did Twilight Sparkle? No, no, and unfortunately, no.

It was her anniversary, of course. Rainbow Dash and her former best friend, but now marefriend, Fluttershy were on their second year of dating. They loved each other more than Rainbow Dash loved flying and Fluttershy loved animals. They were permanently branded into each other's hearts, and didn't care about anything other's had to say about their relationship. Though they were a bit different in personality, they still shared a romantic relationship. Rainbow Dash provided the athletic, eager, and cocky half, while Fluttershy provided the sweet, kind, and gentle half.

There was just one problem. Even though they loved each other very much, they didn't get much time together. And if they did, it wasn't alone. They both had responsibilities, and had to tend to them. Rainbow Dash had her Wonderbolts Meets and Weather Patrol, as well as taking care of her tortoise, Tank. Fluttershy had her hundreds of animals to take care of, as well as keeping Discord in his place every time he crossed the line. If they were together, it was with their four other friends on missions from Celestia. The only time they got to themselves was the time they spent on the phone with each other.

But, it was the day. The day they finally had time to themselves and themselves only, and they were going to enjoy it all. It was 6:00 PM, and Rainbow Dash had showered, cleaned herself up, and popped an entire roll of mints into her mouth as well. After grabbing her rainbow-colored saddlebag, she left her Cloudhouse and flew as fast as she could to Fluttershy's Cottage. Once she got there, she landed on the porch and knocked loudly on the door. After about thirty seconds, the door opened and Fluttershy was standing in the door frame, smiling.

"Hi, Dashie", she said, hugging Rainbow Dash, "I knew you would come".

"Why wouldn't I?", Rainbow Dash said, "I love you too much to let you down, Flutters". Fluttershy kissed her marefriend for a few seconds, pulling away with a sweet smile.

"I'm glad you didn't forget to freshen your breath this time", Fluttershy said, making Rainbow Dash nervously chuckle.

"I said I was sorry", Rainbow Dash said.

"It's alright, Dashie", Fluttershy said, nuzzling Rainbow Dash, "It's better to taste minty breath than morning breath". Both mares chuckled. "So, are we still going for that walk in the park you promised?"

"Whenever you're ready", Rainbow Dash said. Fluttershy smiled and looked back at her little cottage helper, Angel.

"Angel Bunny", she said, "Dashie and I are leaving now. Please keep an eye on things while we're gone, OK?" Angel rolled his eyes and slammed the door in Fluttershy's face, an audible locking sound heard afterwards.

"What's his problem?", Rainbow Dash asked.

"Angel has just been a little upset", Fluttershy said, "Ever since you and I started dating, he's been jealous because I usually give him most of my love, but now I give it to you".

"Well, he's just gonna have to deal with it", Rainbow Dash said, "The day I'm letting you go is the day I turn in my daredevil license". Fluttershy blushed with flattery as Rainbow Dash expanded her wings. "Well, let's get going!" Before she could fly off, Fluttershy grabbed her tail with her teeth, keeping her from going anywhere.

"Ah ah ah, Dashie", Fluttershy said after spitting several rainbow-colored hairs, "We're going for a walk in the park, not a flight in the park".

"Aw, come on, Flutters!", Rainbow Dash complained, "Can't we just walk when we get there. You know how much I love flying!"

"Yes", Fluttershy said, "But we're both walking. It isn't romantic is we fly there". Rainbow Dash sighed.

"Alright", she said, "Only for you". Rainbow Dash lowered herself to where she was hovering about a foot from the ground and stopped, looking at Fluttershy with a smile.

"All the way", Fluttershy said, "Until all of your hooves are on the ground". Rainbow Dash snorted through her nose in disappointment and landed, tucking her wings back into her sides. "Now, we can go".

"Yeah, whatever", Rainbow Dash said. Fluttershy only chuckled and began walking, Rainbow Dash next to her.

"So, Dashie", Fluttershy asked, "How have you been lately?"

"Pretty good", Rainbow Dash said, "I think I'm getting closer to being the Captain of the Wonderbolts".

"You're already a lead pony", Fluttershy said, "Isn't that good enough?"

"Heck no", Rainbow Dash said, "Spitfire gets to do everything she wants, and doesn't have to share a room with a crybaby wingpony like Lightning Dust".

"She also has responsibilities even more difficult than the ones you have", Fluttershy said.

"I'll tell you now", Rainbow Dash said, ignoring Fluttershy, "If I ever become the Wonderbolts' Captain, I'm gonna name Tank the co-captain and finally end the Shadowbolts' undefeated streak!"

"And I'll be in the stands to cheer you on", Fluttershy said. Rainbow Dash strained hard to fight a blush from flattery.

"Thanks, Flutters", she said. Once the two reached the park, they continued to walk until they decided to sit down on one of the benches. Fluttershy scooted a little closer to Rainbow Dash and snuggled herself into Rainbow Dash's side. Rainbow Dash draped her blue wing over Fluttershy like a blanket.

"I love you, Dashie", Fluttershy said, her voice at a low whisper.

"I love you too, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, leaning down and licking Fluttershy's cheek. The two lovebirds were completely alone in the park. It was just them and beautiful Sunlight.

"I can't believe it's been two years", Fluttershy said, "Two years".

"I know", Rainbow Dash said, "C'mere you". Rainbow Dash slapped her lips onto Fluttershy's, locking in a major kiss between the two. Fluttershy blushed.

"You're so sweet, Dashie", she said, "Who would've known a mare like you would have a soft spot in your heart?" Rainbow Dash gave Fluttershy a small noogie on the top of her head.

"Hey, when it comes to dating a mare like you", she said, "I always got a soft spot". Fluttershy giggled. "So, how's it been goin' with you?"

"I've been OK", Fluttershy said, "I've had to take care of Opal for a few weeks since Rarity and Sweetie Belle have been in Canterlot".

"How's that been?", Rainbow Dash asked.

"She's actually gotten better", Fluttershy said, "I've trained her not to claw window curtains and she's became a lot less aggressive. I promised Rarity I would have her completely docile and kind before she returned next month".

"Good luck with that", Rainbow Dash said, "I'm still pissed at that little asshole for scratching up my favorite blanket. Granny Smith isn't even halfway finished with stitching it back to together".

"Dashie", Fluttershy said, "Watch your language. You know I don't like it when you curse".

"Sorry, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, "My mom stitched that blanket for me, and ever since she died in that tornado accident, that's all I've had to remember her by".

"I understand", Fluttershy said, "Just keep your mouth clean, OK?" Rainbow Dash nodded. After a few minutes, they began walking again. Rainbow Dash, still fighting the urge to fly, began speaking again to take her mind off of it.

"So", she said, "Any luck with making friends with those Canterlot animals you met the first time we went to the Grand Galloping Gala?"

"*sigh* No", Fluttershy said, feeling a bit disappointed, "I made a very bad first impression on them, so they don't want to get anywhere near me now. They think I'm going to harm them, but all I want is to befriend them".

"I feel your pain, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, "I only got to spend thirty seconds at the most with the Wonderbolts that night. Everypony else kept wanting pictures and selfies".

"Well, haven't you made friends with Spitfire already?", Fluttershy asked.

"Yep", Rainbow Dash said, "Heck, I've stayed the night in Spitfire's room so much that she trusts me and I don't even have to knock when I want to go in. If only I can get her to name me Captain. Or Co-Captain, at least".

"But that would be giving away her job", Fluttershy said, "Spitfire has to take care of her handicapped mother, and needs money to support her".

"I know I know", Rainbow Dash said, "I've heard that lecture ten times. But a mare can dream, can't I?"

"Of course", Fluttershy said, "I dream of owning my own zoo in Canterlot".

"That's good", Rainbow Dash said, showing a bit of support for her marefriend. Fluttershy smiled and nuzzled Rainbow Dash.

"Thanks, Dashie", she said. About an hour later, a loud growl came from both of their stomachs. "Dashie, I'm getting a little hungry".

"Me too, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, "Whaddya say we go eat somewhere?"

"Actually, I was planning to cook for us", Fluttershy said, "I would prefer a candlelit dinner over a restaurant".

"Oh, OK", Rainbow Dash said, "Let's go". The two lovers began walking back to the cottage. Rainbow Dash could barely walk anymore, so she tried one last time. "Flutters, can we fly now? My hooves are killing me!" Fluttershy giggled.

"Sure", she said, "But I'm going to walk". Rainbow Dash smiled proudly and expanded her wings.

"Great!", she said, "I'll meet you back at the cottage!" She quickly flew into the air and took off while Fluttershy took her sweet precious time on her four hooves. Once Fluttershy made it back to the cottage, Rainbow Dash was sitting on the steps leading to the porch, waiting for her.

"What took you so long, Flutters?", Rainbow Dash asked sarcastically, "I've been sitting here for hours!"

"Actually, it's only been five minutes", Fluttershy said, "That's why I preferred walking".

"I know I know", Rainbow Dash said, "I was just yanking your chain".

Fluttershy giggled and kissed Rainbow Dash's cheek. After that, Fluttershy grabbed the spare key from under the "welcome" mat, unlocked the door, and opened it, allowing Rainbow Dash in and closing the door behind herself. For Rainbow Dash, it was a little hard to stay in Fluttershy's Cottage. The animals were loud, and it smelled like a zoo. But, it was something she quickly got used to, and anything was worth getting to spend time with her lover.

"So, Dashie", Fluttershy said, "I'm going to cook. Is there anything specific you would like?"

"Uh... surprise me", Rainbow Dash said, "By the way, I gotta pee. Can I use your bathroom?" Fluttershy blushed and looked down with a bit of embarrassment.

"Oh... Uh...", Fluttershy said, "Well, I no longer have toilets".

"What?", Rainbow Dash said in an unbelieving tone.

"I had them removed last month", Fluttershy said.

"Uh... why?", Rainbow Dash asked.

"They were too dangerous to my animals", Fluttershy said, "Two of my chipmunks drowned, and I lost one of my rats when he was accidentally flushed".

"O... K...", Rainbow Dash said, "Then... where do you pee and poop?" Fluttershy blushed a little harder.

"I... dig small holes in the backyard... and go in them", Fluttershy timidly said, "Then... I bury my excrement and plant grass and flowers on it so it doesn't look too suspicious".

"So...", Rainbow Dash said, "You use it as fertilizer?" Fluttershy nodded. "OK... So is that why both bathrooms are always locked whenever we have sleepovers with our friends?"

"Y-yes", Fluttershy said, "I... didn't want you or anypony else to find out". Rainbow Dash pulled her marefriend into a small cuddle.

"Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, "We've been dating for two years. What kind of mare would I be if I exposed any of your secrets?"

"W-well... I...", Fluttershy said, "...didn't want to lose you".

"Lose me?", Rainbow Dash said, "Why?"

"Because I...", Fluttershy said, "...you-know-what outside".

"So?", Rainbow Dash said, "It's your yard, and you can do what you want to it. If you wanna use your own 'supply' for fertilizer, who can tell you otherwise?" Fluttershy's sad frown curled up into a smile as she hugged Rainbow Dash as tight as she could.

"Thank you, Dashie", she said, kissing Rainbow Dash deeply.

"No prob, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said, "But, I'm gonna hold it for a while. I'm not very excited about peeing outside".

"OK, Dashie", Fluttershy said, "But if you change your mind, you're welcome to go when you please". Fluttershy let go of her marefriend. "Alright, I'm going to cook now".

"Alright", Rainbow Dash said, "But no peanuts. I'm not trying to spend the night in a hospital bed looking like a giant blimp". Fluttershy giggled.

"I know", Fluttershy said, "I wouldn't want you to have an allergic reaction". Fluttershy walked into the kitchen while Rainbow Dash lazily laid herself on the couch, sighing loudly afterwards. She peeked out of the corner of her eye and saw Angel staring at her with dirty look.

"What're you lookin' at, runt?", Rainbow Dash said, "Yeah, I'm dating your owner, so deal with it. It's not my fault you haven't been able to get what I have for like seven mating seasons". That hit Angel hard and made him look down to the floor in sadness. As laid-back and uncaring as he is, his only weakness was his history of being rejected during mating season. None of the does liked him enough to mate with him, no matter how hard he tried. The look on Angel's face made Rainbow Dash regret what she said. Then, she decided to help him out.

"Hey, runt", she said, "Come here. I can help you get some doe". Angel reluctantly hopped over to Rainbow Dash, sitting on his tail and looking up at her. "Now, I know you don't like me, but I'm gonna help you out. Now, I can't understand you, so I'll only ask you yes or no questions and you nod to answer". Angel nodded. "OK, did you even get close last time?"

Angel shook his head.

"OK", Rainbow Dash said, "Is there an apple of your eye you want?"

Angel nodded.

"Alright", Rainbow Dash said, "You ever tried giving a doe a gift?"

Angel shook his head again.

"That's the problem, right there", Rainbow Dash said, "Does aren't just gonna come to you. You gotta reel them in by making them like you. That's how Flutters and I got together. She gave me Tank and I stood up for her in Cloudsdale. Anyway, you gotta give her a gift and then tell her you love her, then you might get the mating you want". Angel smiled. "Now go try that out and I bet you'll get inside some cottontail tonight". Angel began to hop off, but Rainbow Dash stepped on his tail before he could move.

"Keep this to yourself, runt", she said, "Don't tell Flutters or any of your animal friends. If Flutters finds out that I told you this, she'll kill me". Angel nodded and hopped off.

After about two hours, Fluttershy had made a romantic dinner for Rainbow Dash and herself. Using her mother's unique and delicious recipes, she made a casserole with hay, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and garlic, with two large calzones, one for herself, and one for Rainbow Dash. After the food was finished cooking, Fluttershy made herself and her lover a plate and set them on the table across from each other. Next, she set the table with silverware, triangular-folded napkins, glasses, and a pitcher of fresh, ice-cold pink lemonade. Then, she placed a small flower in a vase for decoration and lit two tall candles. Lastly, she dimmed the lights to the dining room and turned her kitchen radio to a very soothing tune. Smiling, she called to Rainbow Dash.

"Um... Dashie?", she said, "Dinner's ready". Rainbow Dash smiled and walked into the kitchen. She sat down at the table in front of a plate and Fluttershy sat across from her. Fluttershy unfolded her napkin and placed it in her lap.

"Everything looks great, Flutters", Rainbow Dash complimented. Fluttershy blushed lightly.

"Thank you, Dashie", she said, "You may start whenever you like".

"You ain't gotta tell me twice!", Rainbow Dash said, shoving her face into her plate and eating like a dog. It seemed like she had ate half of her casserole in one bite before Fluttershy stopped her.

"Dashie...", Fluttershy said, making Rainbow Dash look up from her plate, "I gave you a fork for a reason. Please use it". Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and ate with her fork, as did Fluttershy. For about thirty minutes, the two ate in silence, then Rainbow Dash broke the silence.

"So", she said, "Any closer to helping pay for our dream cruise?" Fluttershy swallowed a bite of her calzone and wiped her mouth.

"I'm still very far from my quota", Fluttershy said, "Most of the money I make has to go to my bills or my animals".

"Flutters, I told you", Rainbow Dash said, "I could just pay for it fully. I make loads of money in the Wonderbolts".

"But I want it to be fair", Fluttershy said, "I won't be able to enjoy myself knowing you paid for it fully".

"Well, suit yourself", Rainbow Dash said, "But if you change your mind, let me know. You know I'd do anything for you, Flutters". Fluttershy blushed and giggled.

"And I would do anything for you, Dashie", Fluttershy said, "But I couldn't do anything greater than when you stood up for me in Cloudsdale against those two bullies".

"Hey, those two were assh-", Rainbow Dash said, cutting herself off, "...idiots who picked on weaker ponies. They talk better than they fly, which is why I destroyed them in that race".

"And you performed your and Equestria's first ever Sonic Rainboom", Fluttershy said, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have a cutie mark". Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy both smiled at each other and continued to eat. As they continued to eat and talk, they became more and more lost in each other's eyes. They could feel each other's strong affection, and were so glad to have a whole day to themselves. After they finished eating, Fluttershy rinsed their plates and placed them in the dishwasher.

"Uh... Flutters?", Rainbow Dash asked, "Is it alright if I stay the night here with you? It could be a while before we have another day to ourselves". Fluttershy felt herself become happy on the inside.

"Sure you can, Dashie", Fluttershy said, "You don't mind sharing a bed, do you?"

"'Course not", Rainbow Dash said, "I've shared a bed with Spitfire several times, so I'm good". Fluttershy smiled and nuzzled her marefriend.

After dinner, the two mares sat down on the couch and watched a few movies together, snuggling each other tight. After that, both of them were ready for bed. Rainbow Dash went upstairs into Fluttershy's room to wait for her, while Fluttershy got ready for bed. She showered, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and wrapped herself up in her robe. After she was ready, she opened the window next to the bed and she got into her bed, Rainbow Dash laying herself next to her. Fluttershy turned off the lamp next to her, making the room dark, the beautiful Moonlight lightly shining through the window.

"Are you comfortable, Dashie?", Fluttershy asked.

"Very", Rainbow Dash said, snuggling herself deeper into the blanket.

"OK", she said, "Well, goodnight Dashie".

"'Night, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said. For about forty-five minutes, nothing but complete silence and soft breathing was heard as both mares tried to fall asleep. But after a little while longer, Rainbow Dash spoke again.

"Hey Flutters", she softly said, "You asleep yet?"

"No", Fluttershy said.

"Well, can I ask you something?", Rainbow Dash asked.

"Go ahead, Dashie", Fluttershy said.

"Well... do you ever get...", Rainbow Dash asked, "like... urges?"

"Urges?", Fluttershy asked, "What kind of urges?"

"Oh D-Dashie!", Fluttershy said between moans, "I *ah!* love you so *ah!* much".

"I-I love you *ah!* too, Flutters", Rainbow Dash said. Rainbow Dash's humping became harder and faster every second that went by, and so did their breaths. Fluttershy's whimpers became louder and louder, and it was only a matter of time before she climaxed.

"And, some of my nocturnal animals may look", Fluttershy said, "But won't laugh or look disgusted, since they go out there all the time". Rainbow Dash nodded and walked downstairs. On her way outside, she saw Angel hop back into the house through the doggy-door, carrying a large carrot in his mouth.

"What're you still doing up?", she asked him, "Aren't you usually sleeping right now?" Angel sat up in front of the mare. Rainbow Dash could then see a small, white bulge coming from between his hind legs. She smiled a bit, knowing exactly what that meant.

"Looks like you got lucky tonight", she said. Angel happily nodded. "I told you, and now you know how to get lucky every mating season". She started to walk off, but Angel kept her from moving by grabbing her left hind leg, making her look behind herself. "What?" Angel took the carrot out of his mouth and held it out to her. Fluttershy had previously told her that anytime Angel offers a carrot to a pony or another animal means respect. Rainbow Dash smiled and took the carrot.

"Thanks, ru-", she said, "...Angel. Respect right back at 'cha". Angel hopped off as Rainbow Dash went outside.

After the mares had their bath and got dried off, Fluttershy took the sheets and comforter off of the bed and carried them down to the laundry room. After that, she got spare ones from the closet and remade the bed. Once the bed was made, Fluttershy got back into the bed, Rainbow Dash laying herself next to her. Fluttershy turned the lamp off and cuddled Rainbow Dash, burying her face in her coat.

"Goodnight, Dashie", she said, "I love you". Rainbow Dash yawned loudly, returning the cuddle.

"'Night Flutters", she said, "I love you too". Both mares slowly fell asleep, smiles on their faces.
