1: the start of the struggle.
The sun shined brightly as its gently poked through the curtains of Twilight’s room. She groggily sat up rubbing her eyes. “Spike, what time is it?”
“Its noon-“
“What, why didn’t you wake me up?! I was supposed to meet the others at 11!”
“Sorry Twili I thought you wanted more sleep since you know. You were up until 4 in the morning studying.”
“That doesn’t matter spike, you know I hate being late. I have to go bye!” Twilight said as he bolted out of bed and through the door and headed towards fluttershy’s place. As she continued to gallop through town until she bumped into some pony.“ Oof, oh gosh I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there” She said getting up.
“It’s fine, so what’s your name? Are you new?” the other pony asked looking at twilight.
“Oh, I’m TwilghtSparkle , yeah I’m sort of new, I was about to ask you the same thing.“
“I’m Sunflower Seed. Some call me sun for short, I come into town every few months to sell my flowers. Well I better go and start selling them if I don’t want him to kill me."
“He?” twilight questioned.
“It’s nothing, it was nice meeting you Twilight, stop by my stand later if you have time. I would love to chat with you some more.” She said walking away.
“She’s pretty nice; I guess I better get going.” Twilight started galloping towards fluttershy’s place. After a few minutes she finally arrived. She saw all of them staring at her.
“Where have you been!?” Rainbow dash yelled getting up in Twilight’s face.
“You okay twilight your usually never late we were about to start heading over to check on ya.” Apple jack said concerned.
“No I’m fine, spike forgot to wake me up on time so I had to rush over here, I would have been here sooner, but I ran into another pony who I have never seen before.”
“Whose this pony you speak of darling, I haven’t seen any new ponies around here in a while, well besides you of course.”
“Well she’s slightly taller than me, is light brown with a white patch with brown spots on her flank, she has black mane with pink high lights and a sunflower cutie mark.”
“You mean Sun? huh, you’re the first pony to actually talk to her outside of buying flowers."
“What do you mean? she seems really nice."
“Well she comes to town every few months and not many ponies talk to her.”
“Well she invited me to her stand, once were done here why don’t we go?”
“SOUNDS FUN!! I LOVE MAKING NEW FRIENDS!!!” pinkie said jumping up and down. After a few hours of helping Flutterhy take care of her animals, they all headed over to sun’s flower stand. As they got closer they noticed a relatively tall grey pony talking with sunflower. The noticed she was looking down at the ground. After he left they all walked over to her.
“Hey sun!” twilight said stopping in front of her stand.
“Hmm, hey twilight, these must be your friends you were in a rush to meet.
“ Yup that’s Apple Jack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and pinkie-“
“Hi sun, I’m pinkie pie, your flowers are soooo pretty I like flowers too blue ones, purple ones, red ones, hex I love them all!!!”
“ It’s a pleasure, pinkie, it’s a pleasure to meet all of you.”
“ So sun darling, who was that older pony you were talking to?”
“He seemed like a big meanine, by the look on your face.” Pinkie interjected,
“That was Jean he’s’ my boss….he hasn’t been happy with me lately cause I’m not producing enough flowers and selling them too cheap. But if I raise the price no one would buy them...”
“ Is there anything we can do to help?” Apple Jack questioned.
“ No its fine, I just have to do better and come to town more often and sell, sell sell…anyway looks like no pony is going to buy any more today. Time for me to go home. I will catch you guys later, hey by the way if you want to tomorrow you can come by and visit if you would like, any time is fine.”
“Sounds like a plan, see you tomorrow” as the ponies went their spate Ways. Sun looked at them and headed towards home. She slowly walked through tow ignoring every pony as she walked through the woods looking down at the ground. As she approached her home she noticed her friend Yin working the fields he looked over at her and smiled. He put down his tools and trotted over to her.
“Hey sun, how was your day?” he asked taking her saddle bag and basket.
“Hey yin, it was fine, Jean talked to me though…”
Yin looked over at her concerned “…What happened? What did that jerk say?”
“I need to raise the price of the flowers. I’m not selling as much and I’m making less money. You know the deal, what am I going to do yin…” she said nuzzling under his chin. Yin just looked at her and blushed slightly and smiled. “Hey don’t you worry, sun you’ll figure something out and I will help you. You will be fine.” He said nudging her. They both smiled and walked into her house.
