The Legacy of Blood
Magical Despair
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight sits on the side of the operating table in Sinclair's laboratory with her head in her hands. Hémolyse stands in front of her and slowly lifts her head so their eyes meet.
"To answer your more simple questions first... Yes, Princess Luna is indeed a Kansen. The colt you saw with her is her son and your mentor, Princess Celestia, is not a Kansen. If you would like to begin your more complicated questions." Hémolyse asks, stroking Twilight's hair gently.
"Why..? Why did Princess Celestia wish to kill me herself?" Twilight asks, nearly tearing up.
"By learning that Princess Luna is a Kansen, you learned the royal family's well kept dark secret. You also learnt about and tried to strike down one of her sons. I understand the surveillance pictures put Erlöser in that alleyway, however, it was an anonymous tip that put both Sunset Shimmer and Spike in that alleyway, chasing that Kansen. They and Erlöser were never supposed to run into each other." Hémolyse explains.
"B-but it shows him ripping them apart? Am I supposed to believe he lost control?" Twilight protests.
"Yes, that is exactly what you are supposed to believe. Because that is what happened... It is our understanding that another entity is responsible for his bloody rampage. You'll be more interested in the voice belonging to the 'anonymous' tipper." Hémolyse explains before holding up a recording device and pressing play.
"I'd like to report sightings of a rogue Kansen in the alleyway nearby 'Sanran Buraddo'~" The recording ends.
"T-that sounded like..." Twilight begins.
"The Kansen designated The Jester a.k.a Verdammnis, daughter of Queen Chrysalis. It would seem she has taken more from you than just your lover..." Hémolyse states.
"So Verdammnis is the cause of all this grief..?" Twilight asks herself as she blinks a few times.
"So it would seem... I asked Princess Luna to allow me to handle this situation. I love you, that much is certain. However, I made an oath to the princess... Which is why you're here. I have something to tell you. As I'm sure you're aware, most if not all of the Pathogen agents have Kansen blood fused with their own to enable them to use the same abilities. I have Princess Luna's blood in me, in order for you to fully understand what is at stake. You must now pick whose Kansen blood you wish to have infused with your own. By now we have quite the collection of Kansen blood for you to pick from. You can, of course, decline this transaction. Should you understand your position and not pursue Erlöser, Princess Luna should allow us both to continue as normal." Hémolyse explains.
"Either way nothing can go back to normal... I wont leave you though. I see little point in leaving the mare who is literally keeping me sane in this whole backward fucked up situation..." Twilight smiles meekly.
"I'm very happy to hear that. What about the blood offer?" Hémolyse asks, nuzzling Twilight's cheek gently.
"Hmm what have you got?" Twilight asks, looking over at the vials of blood on the rack.
"The Blood Knight, Turn Table, Back Beat, The Jester-" Hémolyse is stopped by Twilight.
"That last one... The Jester's blood will do... I want to kill that mare painfully. What better way than with her own abilities?" Twilight exclaims.
"So long as you're sure... Sinclair should be back in a while.." Hémolyse looks uneasy.
"Perhaps we could do something in the meantime? I mean he is bound to be countless hours so we might be able to have some fun? I know it's weird wanting to do it in a lab, but what is the most harm we could come to? Being nearly marked for death by your mentor isn't an average event you know..." Twilight states, pulling Hémolyse to her.
"Against my better judgement, I suppose we could if he will be that long." Hémolyse kisses Twilight deeply.
Princess Luna sighs deeply as she pours herself a glass of blood-whiskey before leaning back in her seat on the sofa.
"My sons are back... It's something amongst the recent string of Pathogen deaths. However, I get the depressing feeling these next couple of weeks will be a paperwork nightmare..." Princess Luna muses as she takes a sip of her whiskey.
"You always have a depressing feeling, dear sister." Princess Celestia walks around the sofa and sits on the opposite sofa.
"I'm normally correct in my depressing feelings... I just wish their father was here to see them... You know I miss him, Tia." Princess Luna state, putting her glass down onto the coffee table.
Princess Celestia crosses her legs and sighs deeply. "I know... I'm hoping this time you are wrong. Do you remember that secret project a while back with that... 'Special test subject'?"
Princess Luna raises an eyebrow. "That unique case where instead of banishing him to oblivion, we were able to reform him by allowing them to participate in a mixed Kansen blood experiment. I believe it was using the blood from 'Blood Knight' and 'Turn Table'."
"Yes, well, it seems he has awoken. Cadence and Shining are currently unsure 'what' the reason is, but he appears to have retained his sanity despite the experiment." Princess Celestia states.
"Well, at least there is one silver lining through recent events. Speaking of the experiment, your faithful student should be undergoing hers very soon." Princess Luna comments, swirling her whiskey around in the glass.
"I still think that putting her through the Kansen experiment is a bit harsh..." Princess Celestia folds her arms.
"Oh? And I suppose striking her down with your sabre was a much favoured response?" Princess Luna comments, putting her glass down.
"That was a rushed response... Still, I hope she comes out okay." Princess Celestia closes her eyes.
"I'm sure she wont be anymore broken then she already is. Besides, she has my guard captain with her so I'm sure she will be fine." Princess Luna stretches before standing up.
"Where are you off to now?" Princess Celestia asks, opening her eyes upon hearing Princess Luna move.
"Just for a walk. I'll see you later, Tia." Princess Luna leaves the room.
Hémolyse tightens her coat and holsters her katana before turning back to an already dressed Twilight.
"That was certainly an interesting experience, not to say it was bad, just interesting." Hémolyse states, smiling at Twilight.
"It was definitely different than I had imagined, but still fun." Twilight kisses Hémolyse gently.
"Well, I hope you enjoyed your little 'moment' with each other. Celestia forbid how you two thought I wouldn't notice. The unique odour of 'sex' nearly knocked me out as I walked in. I wont argue against your actions as this might be the very last time dear Twilight would have to indulge in such an act." Dr. Sinclair walks into the lab and over to his work station.
"I know the risks of this experiment... However, despite my romantic interests, I want this... There are Kansen out there I cannot handle with just my magic. I need to be on the same level as the other Pathogen members if I want to avoid being a burden on the field." Twilight states with confidence.
"Hmm given your choice in blood this will be very interesting. Thanks to the theatre encounter and the minimal damage she sustained while fleeing from our armoured response team. We finally have enough of her blood to use. Needless to say, I'm quite excited at the prospect of a Pathogen member using her blood and living." Dr. Sinclair prepares a syringe.
"I shall leave you to your work... Be careful, Twilight. I promise you I will be here for you after I've finished my guard duty for Princess Luna." Hémolyse states, before leaving the lab.
"Well, at the theatre Trixie had some of Verdammnis' blood put into her, but she didn't make it... She almost did. However, Spitfire, Fleetfoot and Lightning Dust all survived her blood ritual." Twilight informs Dr. Sinclair.
"Really? That is quite fascinating. Although the low survival rate doesn't surprise me given the mare's sanity." Dr. Sinclair states, walking over to the table and laying down Twilight.
"What does her sanity have to do with her blood?" Twilight asks, laying down in compliance.
Dr. Sinclair applies the heavy straps to Twilight's wrists, ankles, midsection and neck. "Well, her sanity is pretty much in her blood. It's no secret she is an absolute psycho. This is not only true for her killing methods, but also her mental state. From our records we know she snapped and became a SSS+ at the age of five when in kindergarten. The report states that another pony's foal slapped Verdammnis. She then proceeded to cackle hysterically before returning the slap and subsequently snapping the foals neck in the process. Needless to say, she disappeared from any records before re-appearing again as The Jester."
"Oh... Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all... Perhaps I can change-" Twilight begins, but stops as Dr. Sinclair jabs Twilight's arm with the needle.
"Nope. Now I do hope this will be as entertaining as I imagine it to be. In my many many years of applying my research to you pony folk, I've yet to see the effects a bat shit insane Kansen's blood would affect a perfectly healthy normal pony. You could either die, die horribly, live and then die like Trixie... Hmm perhaps too soon. Or you could live and not see any effects until later on. The mass of unknown variables is quite exciting." Dr. Sinclair states, before holding down Twilight with many blood tentacles.
Twilight blinks many times as her vision is blurred by countless blurry streaks of green and red. Looking over at Dr. Sinclair his form morphs and shifts to take on the appearance of Verdammnis. Twilight begins to violently struggle against her binding straps.
"Hmm increased aggression... I wonder if she is seeing stuff..?" Dr. Sinclair begins as he pokes Twilight's cheek.
Twilight attempts to bite his finger as he recoils. "Verdammnis!"
"Oh yeah, she is tripping balls... maybe a heavy does of sedative will help resolve this situation." Dr. Sinclair mumbles as he reaches a tentacle over to his work station and produces a full syringe of sedative.
Stabbing the needle in her chest and quickly discarding it as Twilight becomes even more aggressive against her bindings.
"Oh fuck, that did not do what I expected..." Dr. Sinclair checks the bottle he drew from. The label says 'adrenaline not sedative'. "Ah... That will explain a lot..."
Twilight breaks her left side binding and Dr. Sinclair adds loads of tentacles to keep her wrist secured.
"Perhaps my curiosity isn't so good here..." Dr. Sinclair swallows hard as Twilight breaks her other wrist binding.
Twilight can begin to feel a thousand tiny needles clawing at her mind continuously. She struggles hard against Dr. Sinclair and her remaining bindings. Her vision turns a sickly green as memories of Trixie and Verdammnis flash and mix in her mind, causing her more pain.
"Locking the door would be a good idea..." Dr. Sinclair muses to himself as he jabs a clearly labelled 'PANIC' button above his work station which locks the lab door before slamming a 5' thick reinforced Kansen proof metal door in front of it.
