Flown Far Away

   Scootaloo raced through town as fast as she could, flapping her wings to try and make her scooter go faster. Before she knew it though, she hit a rock and was flipped over backwards with her face in the dirt. She got up, wiped the cold dirt off of her nose, and nearly fell back over as she realized her scooter was broken! She ran over whispering to herself the entire time," No no no no no" as she tried to put the wheel back on the twisted, rusty axel.

   A familiar voice sounded behind her, "Wow kid you really wrecked your scooter, didn't you".

Rainbow Dash walked up beside Scootaloo as she hid her face, trying to hide the tears that rolled down her cheeks.

Rainbow wrapped a wing around Scootaloo," Don't worry kid I'll get you a new one, this one was already near it's end anyway".

Smiling a half, but real smile, Scootaloo wiped the tears from her eyes and looked up at Rainbow Dash. They walked over to the scooter shop to find it was closed.

  "Dang it!", Scootaloo yelled,  stomping her hoof to the ground.

  "Well I guess we'll have to get you a new scooter tomorrow", Rainbow Dash looked up, zoning out as she stared at a cloud. She then had a bright smile come to her face," Hey Scoots, you want to practice flying some more"?

  They then rushed over to the clearing they had set up as a training ground. Scootaloo climbed up a haystack and jumped off, flapping her wings vigorously until she hit the ground with a thud.

  "Let's try again", Rainbow Dash encouraged.

Each time she tried, Scootaloo couldn't manage to stay off the ground.

  "Hmmm. Scoots I think we should see the Ponyville doctor, there might be something wrong with your wings." Rainbow told her.

When they got to the doctor they had to sit in the waiting room for a while, to pass the time Rainbow told jokes and stories from when she was filly. When Scootaloo's name was called she stood up swallowed the lump in her throat and walked  in, Rainbow Dash trailing behind her. The doctor was waiting in the hallway, and he lead Scootaloo and Rainbow into a dark  x-ray room. After a few flashes of light, the doctor asked Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash to go outside.

  Almost choking on her words and tears rolling down her cheeks Scootaloo asked Rainbow," do you think it'll be okay, do you think I'll be able to fly?"

  A single tear rolled down Rainbow's cheek as she mumbled, wrapping her wing around Scootaloo," I don't know, I don't know."

Rainbow closed her eyes as a few more tears rolled down her cheeks, but she didn't look away, she didn't hide it. This was the first time Scootaloo had seen Rainbow Dash cry, it touched her but then she started crying as well. In a few moments the two had wiped the tears out of their eyes just in time for the doctor to call them back in. The doctor sighed, waited a moment then explained, "Scootaloo, you won't be able to fly. You have a very rare condition called muscleless wing , this condition makes it so the pony with it has very weak wing muscles, making them unable to fly.

  Scootaloo started crying, and couple of tears rolled down Rainbow Dash's cheeks. Rainbow thanked the doctor for his time and carried Scootaloo out on her back. By the time they were back at Rainbow's house Scootaloo had already cried herself to sleep. After putting Scootaloo into bed, Rainbow lied down and cried.

  "I can't believe there is nothing I can do"

  "I wish I could help"

  "Scootaloo, I would give you my wings if I could"

Rainbow mumbled to herself and cried until she finally fell asleep.
