Figuring Yourself Out

Chapter Four

Scootaloo took a breath and went into Sugar Cube Corner, eyeing Rainbow Dash at a table with Pinkie Pie. She walked up to Rainbow and tapped her on the leg, not being tall enough to tap her on the shoulder.

“Oh hey Scoots, what’s up?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“I kind of needed to talk to you about something,” Scootaloo glanced at Pinkie Pie, “privately, if you don’t mind me stealing her away for a bit, Pinkie Pie.”

“Oh of course I don’t mind! I have some baking I should get done for a bit anyway. You two have fun, fun, fun!” Pinkie said happily as she bounced off into the kitchen.

“Okay, so what’s up kiddo?” Rainbow asked as Scootaloo sat down across from her, where Pinkie Pie had occupied it just moments before.

“Well...I talked about this with the CMC, since they’re my best friends and all...but I felt like I should talk to an adult. Also...you are the adult that I trust the most and are like a big sister to me, you know?” Scootaloo said.

“Go on, Scoots.”

“Okay well...I feel like I may be...a lesbian,” Scootaloo whispered to Rainbow. Rainbow Dash’s face got serious.

“Alright...why do you think you’re a lesbian, Scootaloo?” Rainbow asked.

“Well...I started to think about liking mares...and then...Applebloom and Sweetie Belle let me kiss them...and experiment my feelings. I really liked it...so i just wanted to talk to you about it before I started trying both genders out.

“I’m glad you came and talked to me. Believe me...I know it’s hard figuring this stuff out. When I was about your age, I started questioning myself too. It’s never an easy thing to talk about and figure out, but it’s good you find out as soon as you can. It’s good to figure yourself out and know what you like. I will tell you now that I will accept you anyway you are. I love you like a little sister just as much as you love me, trust me. I always wished I had a little sister as well as you wish you had a real older sister. I will always be here to talk about it when you need me. If you do start dating mares, just make sure you take into consideration that they are figuring themselves out as well. Plus, try to date colts before anything. I actually thought I liked mares as well, but then I met Soarin and my mind completely changed when I fell in love with him. Just be sure before anything too serious happens. Alright, kiddo?”

Scootaloo looked up at her idol. She had never seen this side of Rainbow Dash before. She had helped her with little things before, like her coping about her disability and her fears. However, never had she seen her be this serious about something so big.

“Alright, Rainbow Dash. I’ll keep all that in mind,” Scootaloo said. Rainbow hugged Scootaloo and started out the door, leaving Scootaloo to think about all the advice she had given her. It was a lot to take in after all.

However, Scootaloo knew that no matter what sexuality she turned out to be, she would have friends to help her and an awesome adopted big sister to help her with things as well.
