Max settled down onto the couch after he helped Sonata and Aria to their respective rooms, leaving them fully clothed in their own bed and leaving the room. After that he grabbed the pillow and blanket and tossed them up onto the couch. He started to undress, then halted thinking of where he was. With a small groan he turned and made his way over to his bag that was still over at the door.

Grabbing the large duffle bag, he went back to the living room and sat down. Unzipping the bag, Max opened the top and began to dig through the various items until he found where he had stashed some of his clothes. The duffle bag was very big, practically large enough to hide someone in. Or chop up a couple of bodies...

‘Whoa, that was dark...’ He shook his head and grabbed a pair of swimming trunks he normally wore as shorts around at times he wanted to wear something other than jeans or dress pants. He had grabbed enough clothes for about a week, as he was not sure how long these three would be willing to let him crash on their couch. Making sure there was no noise coming from any of the rooms, he quickly changed into his shorts, before draping his pants over his bag and neatly placing his shoes next to it as well. He settled back onto the couch in as much of a comfortable position as possible.

Max fell into a fitful sleep, waking up at the slightest sounds. It wasn’t that something was bothering him, it was one of those things that the mind cannot let go of when it is in unfamiliar territory.

Something bright hit his eyes, and he turned his head with a groan and eased his eyes open. He could see the back of the couch, dark blue with ridges raised in its definition. Above that was the white of the wall and ceiling.

‘They need some color in here, don’t want to think this place is some sort of mental ward. Ouch, that was a little harsh, Max. Near sleepless night does not mix well with waking so early. Wonder what time it is?’

He fished around for his pants until he found them and dug through the front pockets, rattling his keys, then brushing his hand on the cell. He pulled it out and glanced at the time.

7:30 am.

Max rolled his eyes and dropped his pants onto the duffle bag and dropped his hand holding his cell onto his stomach with a loud slap. He groaned again, not wanting to get up. He wiped his eyes to clear them of the night sleep that had collected, and closed his eyes, his mind hoping he could fall back to sleep.

After a few minutes, he realized, this was not going to happen.

‘Fuck you world, you are not ready to suffer my wrath. This guy is staying right here for today and I am not moving for anything.’

The sound of a door quietly opening near him caught his attention during his morning mental tirade of his hatred for mornings. He did his best to ignore it, that is until he heard tentative shuffled feet brushing against the carpet. He felt a presence next to him,

‘No,’

A soft small hand moved to his shoulder,

‘dammit. Just ignore it and it will go away,’

He then felt something drift near his ear, the soft warm breath of a woman next to him, he voice whispering, trying to rouse him as gently as possible.

“Max, are you awake? I’m sorry to bother you, but can you help me?”

The combination of her whispering softly into his ear, asking for his help, and her breath flowing over his ear brought a quick blush to his face, as other parts of his body started to wake up to the demands of his brain.

He did his best to keep from utilizing his first reaction, and open his eyes slowly, and turn his head just so he could see who was speaking to him out of the corner of his eye, even though he knew her voice.

There, an apologetically smiling Sonata, blue hair in a slight jumble about her head, the ponytail gone, her hair drifting around her shoulders, waved to him.

‘Damn, she’s cu- NO! DO. NOT. GO. THERE!’ He screamed at himself internally, ‘Crap it has been way too long for me.’

“Morning, Sunny bunny, what do you need help with?” He asked, using the nickname he had given her way back when they had first met.

Her gasp, and the pure ecstatic look as she bounced right there beside him.

“Oh, Max, you remembered. Thank you,” Unknowingly doing something that further stirred him awake, by leaning down and kissing his cheek.

“Yea, I’m awesome like that. So, what’s up?”

“Oh, hey, we haven’t quite gotten around to getting a vehicle yet, um, you had one when you came by right?”

Max raised a brow and thought back, ‘four wheels, engine, shape of a vehicle, got me here after I was done putting my stuff into storage. Yes, I do believe that is what mortals call the car.’ He merely nodded in answer.

“Oh, yay. Hey, would you mind giving me a ride to school?”

“Schoo- OW!” He had been surprised by her request to be taken to school, that and a lack of working brain cells in the morning lead him to raise up suddenly, and without warning smacking their heads together.

“Sorry, but did you ask me to take you to school?” He asked for affirmation, while rubbing his forehead.

Sonata looked up from he position on the floor, tears welling up in her her eyes as she rubbed her head, “Yes. I just got my GED, since we were never properly enrolled into the school for long enough to get any actual work done and graduate like everyone else. So, I found how to get classes at the local college to help me out. Then they offered me a small college tuition to help me after that. Classes just started a few days ago. Right now, I kind of overslept and I won’t make my first class by still using the bus system.”

“Oh, wow. You girls have really come a long way since I last saw you three. Well, yea, of course I’ll get you there. Uh, just need to change, are you ready?”

“Oh, I just need to finish freshening up and I will be ready.” She stood quickly and went to finish getting ready.

Max grabbed his pants, and stood on the other side of his bag and removed his shorts and started pulling up his pants.

“Oh, hey-” Sonata stopped, her hands behind her head, putting her hair into its usual ponytail. Max looked up as he froze with her standing there at the door, his pants positioned so that his boxers were bunched up at the front from his haste and open showing a full view of his lower anatomy.

He quickly covered his front when he felt the draft, and her eyes staring, a heavy blush covering her entire face making it glow.

“So, you were trying to say something?” Sonata turned and moved back into her room. With the embarrassment, Max turned away from her door and adjusted himself before finishing pulling his pants the rest of the way up and buttoning them quickly. He then grabbed his shirt and put it on over his white T, and then threw on his shoes. He glanced up to see Sonata leaning against the wall near the front door. He finished tying his shoes and stood, grabbing his cell and walking towards the door.

“So, what major are you going for?” The ride for the past ten minutes had an uncomfortable silence and tenseness. He was too uncomfortable and did not want to turn on the radio unless conversation utterly failed.

Sonata muttered something, Max could not quite hear.

“Uh, didn’t quite catch that.”

“I... I am just trying to work on an art degree.”

“Art degree, okay, well that is, uh very cool. What kind of Art degree are you going for?” He asked trying to pry a little more information out of her. To his disappointment, Sonata seemed to be lost looking out of the car window. Max let out a breath, he wasn’t upset or disappointed or anything of the sort, he was just, wishing his morning had gone a little better.

‘At least it wasn’t at full mast, though that combination of... Stop. Focus, your driving, don’t wanna wreck. Oh wait, there is an idiot running out into the middle of the road.’ He thought as a guy in a small red corvette sped out in front of him, forcing Max to step on the brakes or hit the other guy.

That was when he realized too, that the exit for the college was coming up. Ensuring he had clearance, he eased the car to the proper turn lane before turning at the light.

The college was large, a sign at the entrance hailed the college, Canterlot University, with bold black letters over red bricks for the background.

Max drove up to the main front entrance, careful of the speed bumps and pulled up around the curve since it rounded back to the main road.

As he stopped, he turned to Sonata, who moved stiffly grabbed her bag and opened the door. He wanted to say something, but wasn’t sure what. Sonata was out and about to close the door, when he opened his mouth.

“I’m sorry.” His words, seeming to reach Sonata as she hesitated for a second then shut the door.

‘Well, so much for that. Hope the other two don’t kill me for apparently throwing her into shock. I know I don’t have anything that is frightening. I’m just a normal guy, so I’m just guessing she is still, inexperienced with guys.’

The sound of a car behind him suddenly angrily laying into their horn brought him out of his thoughts and Max drove off, rounding the drive way and heading back up to the main road.

It felt like it took less time to get back to the girls apartment, and he found the same parking spot he parked at empty and eased his car into it once more.

He made his way across the parking lot and to the stairs that lead to their apartment before stopping and wondering if Sonata locked the door. He reached up and tested the handle to find it unlocked. As he opened it slowly he called out, in case the other two were up.

When he opened the door he saw the hall clear and moved to close the door. Out of habit, and without thought he locked the door and walked into the living room to find Aria there in shorts and a shirt flipping through channels on the t.v against the wall on the other side of the room.

“Hey, Max.”

“Hey, is Adagio up yet?”

“Yeah, she is being lazy though, SINCE SOMEONE WAS SUPPOSED TO COOK BREAKFAST!” Aria raise her voice towards the end of the sentence.

Max heard a grumbling roar back that held no prose of being human, just aggressive.

“Is this how you usually start the mornings?”

“Usually Sonata is up by now. Where is she anyways?”

“You don’t know?” Max asked before Aria just shrugged as if it didn’t really matter.

Max stood and made his way to the kitchen where he started gathering a few things.

Several minutes later Adagio finally made her way out of her room on the other side of the apartment and began sniffing the air.

Max made his way out from the kitchen carrying two plates of hot steaming food. He set the two plates down, revealing a small stack of pancakes with butter and syrup and three eggs over easy.

“You girls want toast?” The two sirens stood in mute silence staring at the food and shook their heads before falling to their knees and stuffing the food into their mouths. “Okay then...” Max said as he eased his way back to the kitchen.

“Hey, what do you two have planned for today?” Came Max’s voice from the kitchen.

“Not much, I have today off, and Aria...,” Adagio began to answer then stopped and turned to Aria, “What are you doing today? Going out clubbing again?”

“I don’t go out ‘clubbing’” Aria growled around a mouthful of pancakes.

“Then what do you do?” Adagio pressed.

“None of your damn business.”

“Okay, so Adagio, you have today off, by the way congrats on the job. Anyways, I was wondering cause its been a while since I was able to get out and enjoy a day or two. How about we all go out today?”

The two sirens stopped eating for a second and looked at each other. Adagio took a swallow of her food to clear her mouth, “And, what exactly did you have in mind?”

“A strip club.”

Aria started hacking and coughing on her food. She finished by pounding a fist on her chest, “The hell man.” She screamed.

Max walked in with his own plate chuckling, “Do you really expect me to do something asinine like that?” He asked as he sat down and began to eat. He looked up to see the two giving him a look, “Seriously? Okay, no there is no way in hell I would do that. No, I was thinking the beach. I wanna go swimming.”

“Why don’t we wait till Sonata gets home. With the bus system she usually gets here about Four O’clock.”

“Oh hey, I can pick her up. I dropped her off since she was running a little late to the school.”

“Pfft, did you say school? Hope you mean something like an elementary school.” Aria laughed.

“No, college, apparently she is going for some sort of Art degree,” Max looked up when he heard the clattering of silverware colliding with the plates. “So, you two didn’t know?” The two girls shook their heads, eyes wide with shock.

“Well, anyways, I’m happy for her. So, any of you have swimsuits?” Max asked as casually as he could.

“Wait, first you drop a bomb on us like that, then you just jump topics without signal, the hell, Max?”

“Aria, enough.” Adagio said, looking down at her plate of food and using her fork to push what was left of the pancakes through the egg yolk.

“What? You’re not the least bit curious-”

“I said enough. If she wants to make something of herself, who are we to say anything about it? Max, I think going out would be good for us all. We should have some beachwear.”

Max nodded and watched the two, his eyes jumping between the two sirens.

Once they had all finished their food, Max offered to clean the dishes, after which he just waited around for Sonata to get out of school.

When the time was close, Max made his way to the front door to be stopped by Adagio, "Hey, wait up a sec Max. We want to go with you."

Max turned to see the other two standing there wearing different clothes. Adagio stood with her orange hair raised up some. She wore a white shirt that hung loosely about her figure, the bottom of it stretched out and tied to her left side revealing a very trim stomach. At her waist was what looked like an old cloth tied at her hips. It had a dark blue design, with tropical trees and flowers, the background holding black shadows behind each plant and tree. Max thought it looked like something he would find in Hawaii, if he had ever been to a place like that.

Aria wore long black shorts frayed at the bottom which made him think of jeans she had cut half the leggings from to make shorts, and a black tank top. He stood a moment longer admiring the two sirens, of the three, Adagio was certainly the one who filled out her body the most, and even though Aria, and Sonata wore clothing that usually hid their figure, he was now finding out that Aria certainly had the potential to look hot with her figure,as her body had plenty of breasts, sticking up through her tank top, and hips a bit wider than Adagio.

'Wow, hope Sonata has something to look at as well. This is turning out to be a better idea than I thought.'
