Six different ponies find themselves as the wielders of the elements and have the responsibility of defending Equestria resting on their shoulders.
Celestia had prepared Twilight Sparkle to be the new wielder of the Element of Magic for as long as she could remember, manipulating events and her student's progress when needed. On the night of the 1775th Summer Celebration and the eventual return of Nightmare Moon, Celestia eagerly anticipated witnessing watching her student and her chosen friends wield the Elements and fulfill the ancient prophecies.
Only problem with that is that a group of completely different ponies have completed the task meant for Twilight.
