Doctor Whooves: You Want Me to do What?
I'm sorry, what?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen Sunset was walking home on Thursday, she dialed the Doctor’s number. “Hello?” She said when the phone was picked up.
“Sunset!” The Doctor exclaimed, who was in the TARDIS, hauling around a giant stuff polar bear. “Did you know that there’s a stuffed teddy bear that weighs over six hundred kilos? I found it in the Guinness World Records over of Twenty Seventy Nine. Apparently, this man collected stuff animals for his entire life, and when he died, his kids and grandkids unstuffed them, and then, turned them into one giant teddy bear! The British Government decided to reboot the old Frost Fair, just in tribute to this teddy bear! When I was there I couldn’t help, but buy a miniature version. Now, when I say miniature, it’s really weird, as it’s three feet tall!”
“Doctor, could you come to my home, by this Friday?” Sunset said, crossing a street.
“Why? Is something wrong?” The Doctor asked, dropping the teddy bear.
“No, nothing wrong, I just need your help with something.”
“This isn’t prom again, is it?” the Doctor asked.
“No, no, nothing so drastic besides, it’s only once a year.” Sunset said.
“Well, you never know, after all, they could do another one.” The Doctor replied. “But, what is it you need help with?”
“I’ll tell you when you get here.” Sunset said.
“Okay, what date is it?”
“The twelfth of May.” Sunset replied.
“What year?” The Doctor asked.
“Twenty fifteen.”
"Alright, I'll see you soon." The Doctor hung up.
"Wait, Doctor!" She looked at her phone, then shoved it in her pocket. "Typical."
When she entered her home, she her a voice say, "Well, at least you only have one mirror," Sunset looked into her bathroom, and saw the Doctor standing in front of her mirror. He was wearing his typical blue coat and pants, but wore a simple purple dress shirt. "Clara's face is so wide, she needs three mirrors." He stood up, and strolled into the kitchen opening the fridge.
"I told you to be here tomorrow." Sunset said, following him into the kitchen.
"Then why did you tell me today's date?" The Doctor asked, grabbing a bottle of soda, and opening it, taking a swig.
"I thought you'd figure it out and come tomorrow." Sunset replied, closing her fridge.
"Well, I can't remember the entire conversation." The Doctor walked over to the living room, and plopped down on the black leather couch, grabbing the TV remote, and scrolling through channels.
"Either way, I'm glad you came." She sat down on the couch beside him, and noticed the TARDIS sitting in a corner.
"What is it with modern television?" The Doctor asked. "What happen to the days of Abbot and Costello? Or even MTV? You don't even have a BBC channel."
"Well, there's BBC America, but, I haven't been able to afford it." Sunset said.
"Why not?" The Doctor asked, turning the TV off, and standing up. "It's not like it costs an arm and a leg. Trust me, I almost lost those back in the sixteenth century, when trying to make a deal with a man for some fish."
He walked into Sunset's room, and sat on the bed. "Is this a water bed?"
"Yes, it is." Sunset acknowledged.
"How do you sleep on these?" the Doctor asked. "The surface moves up and down every time you roll over. It's like sleeping on a jellyfish."
"Doctor, aren't you wondering why you're here?" Sunset asked, sitting down next to him.
"There, you see?" The Doctor said, gesturing toward her. "The bed just shifted. You can't even sit on it without it moving." The Doctor stood up, and walked back into the living room, sitting on the couch once again.
"Doctor, did you hear my question?" Sunset asked, sitting next to him.
"Of course I did, I'm just choosing to ignore it, as your answer to 'why am I here?' will probably be something I don't like." He looked at her. "After all, last time you called me, it was about prom night, I hope it's an alien problem, those I like."
Sunset turned to him, and sighed, opened her mouth and,
"Ah, you see, you sighed, meaning I was right. It is something I won't like." The Doctor said, jabbing a finger at her. "Humans you are so predictable." He stood up and walked over to the TARDIS, opening the door, Sunset following him. As they walked along the entree hallway, the Doctor continued, "Now, I know, you're not actually human, you have unicorn DNA, which had been put in a blender and molded to make you seem human, but, you're still predicable." He walked up a set of stairs, grabbed a book, and sat down on the recliner sitting there.
"Do you even want to know why you're here?" Sunset asked.
The Doctor sighed, "Go ahead."
"I need you to do me a favor." Sunset said.
"Go on."
"I need you to babysit for me."
The Doctor looked up, closing the book. "Babysit?"
"Yes." Sunset said, slightly leaning her head back.
"Whom?"
"The Crusaders."
"Crusaders?"
"You know, Rarity's sister, Sweetie Belle, Applejack's sister, Applebloom, and Rainbow Dash's adopted sister, Scootaloo."
The Doctor stood up, book in hand, and walked down toward her. "Why?"
"Well, I was going to do it myself, but, I had something come up, and can't do it anymore." Sunset explained.
"Why don't you hire a professional babysitter?" The Doctor asked.
"It's too short notice," Sunset explained, "We wouldn't be able to get anyone."
"So you called me?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes."
"To ask me to babysit for you?"
"Yes."
The Doctor nodded. He opened his mouth and said: "No." He walked up the stairs.
"What?" Sunset said, surprised.
"I know, what about Mars!" The Doctor shouted, gesturing toward a blackboard. "The Ice Warrior hives. Or, the Tumescent Arrows of the Half Light, those girls can hold their drink, and fracture sixteen different levels of reality simultaneously!"
Sunset walked up the stairs, folding her hands. "Doctor, I know you don't want to do this, trust me, I didn't want to either when I said I would, but, I knew they'd want me to. And, these girls are a handful, but, considering you've dealt with Daleks, and Changelings, and Cybermen, I think you can handle three young girls. So, could you please do this? For me?"
She smiled slightly, and the Doctor said, "How do you do that?" gesturing toward her eyes, "It's like they just bulge out for emphasis!"
"Doctor, please?" Sunset asked.
The Doctor rolled his eyes. "All right, fine, but, only since you asked nicely!" He walked down the stairs to the console, "Not Clara, she doesn't ask. When she wanted to see Robin Hood, and I offered the same exact thing I offered you, she said 'Doctor, Robin Hood, show me, now,' she didn't even ask. She was all just rude! But, that's what you get for telling a control freak they can go anywhere."
"Robin Hood?" Sunset asked, leaning on the console, "she knows that's just a fairy tale, right?"
The Doctor opened his mouth in awe. "That is exactly what I said! Seriously, you two area polar opposites, the only thing similar to you both, is that your both kind."
"So, you'll do it?" She asked, hopefully.
"Yes." The Doctor said. "Now, get out, I'll see you tomorrow." Sunset smiled and walked out the door, and watched as the TARDIS dematerialized.
