Author's Note

Hi all! I'm Tsukikage, and before we start, let me say this. I'm not sure how fast I'll be updating this, but I won't abandon it. Also, I'm not going to the the "Royal Canterlot Voice" because I'm to dumb, and my vocabulary isn't exactly overflowing with flowery long words.

And sorry for the terrible paragraphs, I'm working on it! :scootangel:
Good lord, this is so corny...
This chapter's written in Luna's POV

Prologue

'Tia... They love you, don't they? The ponies, they adore you. Basking in your beautiful sunlight, the main source pf warmth... Yet, after all we've done for Equestria, after all I've done!... They still favor you. And maybe... Maybe, they're right to. After all, what pony would want to stay awake at night, the cold, black night? Because the moon reflects off the sun, doesn't it?

'Yet every night, I still slave over the constellations, over every little star and comet... But I'm still the shadow. I'm still the small little filly in the corner, the one that brings darkness and monsters. This is how it's going to be, isn't it? It'll always be this way... You're the star, I'm the shadow. Sun and moon they're opposites, aren't they? One is useful, the other is entirely unneeded.'

Luna was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of hoofsteps approaching, and quickly straightened herself as Celestia entered the room.

"Is everything alright?" Celestia asked, looking up at the night sky. 'The same question, every night. The same concerned tone, the same adored big sister...'

"Yes." Luna managed to conjure up what she hoped looked like a grateful smile. "Thanks for asking 'Tia." 'No!' she screamed internally. 'Look at my work! The beautiful stars, the sky! The moon! What am I doing wrong?'

"I'm glad to hear it." Celestia met her younger sister's gaze. "It's almost time to raise the sun, do you want to do it together?"

"... Sure." Luna scolded herself for hesitating. 'I'd... I'd really like that."

She could almost swear Celestia lit up like a firefly. "Excellent! You know, it's been awhile since we've done this together."

"Yes, it'll be nice! Like old times, right?" Luna's voice broke at the end, wishing nothing more than to be able to dig a hole in the ground and disappear.

Celestia smiled down at her, making her feel like a filly again. "Just like old times," she confirmed, and for a moment, Luna almost believed her.

And so they stood side by side, a pair of horns glowing dark blue and gold, and Luna marveled at the sheer power of the rising sun as it slowly cast it's warmth and glow across the lands of Equestria, and watched as the moon dipped below the horizon line and out of sight, bringing a new day, and ending another night of monsters and nightmares.

'Because, big sister.... I'll never be as good as you... And Tia, please help me... I'm so scared.'
