In an unexpected turn of events, the princesses of Equestria were overthrown by the escaped prisoners from Tartarus. All that was left of the great kingdom was nothing but blood, bones and rubble as monstrous creatures roamed the empty streets day in and day out, capturing the denizens of the land and imprisoning them in cages and cells.

The ones who resisted were quickly disposed of after they were subjected to malicious torture. With no leaders to inspire them and with no magic to stop their captors, the majority of the ponies gave in to save their lives.

In a space of three days, the inmates of Tartarus were able to takeover with no opposition left.

Or so they thought
