//-------------------------------------------------------// Utahraptor in the human world -by Utahraptor- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A new beginning //-------------------------------------------------------// A new beginning Big Al's(The Utahraptors) reconstruction of events until this point I may not be able to speak due to my lack of lips, but I understand English. I can read English, type in English and even understand what others are saying. Typing is basically hunt and peck because I only have three fingers and no thumbs. My, there was even a time where I didn't have the friends that I do. I also didn't have an owner like I do now. Allow me to elaborate, my owner and main care giver is Rainbow dash. Her turtle tank was originally, not to keen towards me. He didn't like the idea that there was a second pet getting attention in the house, I eventually setup a truce with him by sharing his concerns with rainbow via typed letter. Yours truly would type and tank would tell me what to say, I may have complex thought but I can still understand animals as well. Rainbow attends canterlot high with our shared friends, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie pie, Fluttershy and Sunset Shimmer. Because of my ability to understand and communicate with others, the school has allowed me to walk around the premises of the building. They use me as a hall monitor. due to my speed, I can catch people skipping way faster then they can run from me. They have me wear a necklace that contains an embedded speaker and a button. whenever I press the button with my hand a pre recorded message plays, the voice is of principle celestia asking for a hall pass. If they don't have one or they run, I use my jaws to grab their shirt collar and drag them to the principles office. Now my life was not always like this, I was a lone predator from the late creataceous. Everyday I only thought about the basic needs such as food, water and shelter from rain. The only thoughts I had were "I need to eat" or "I must drink." Most people get confused about what self awareness is. Self awareness is not knowing who you are, it's knowing what you are. Any animal can think "I'm scared" but not just any animal can think "I am a raptor." The only reason I say this, is because I was not self aware at that point. I was just an animal, I couldn't imagine anything that I haven't seen before. I couldn't think of other worlds or an after life, I could only imagine things I've seen. I can remember clearly what is was doing when the asteroid struck, I was stalking an iguanodon at the time. I was waiting for the right time to strike. The asteroid impact was not like what most people think it was. There was no wall of fire that engulfed the earth, just a shock wave and a cloud of dust. When the asteroid hit over 3,000 miles away from where I was, there was a bright light. In seconds the light dimmed and the ground started to shake, the shaking lasted for two minutes. As suddenly as it began, it stopped. I did not stop grasping the tree near by to me, I was afraid of what might come next. A hypersonic wave struck not but four minutes after that, luckily for me I hadn't stopped hugging the tree. A near by tree was ripped up by the roots, exposing a now unstable portal. By being contained underground the portal remained stable but once exposed in would only last for two minutes. Within the range of a minute and a minute and thirty seconds I had lost my grip, and was sent straight into the portal. I remember a sudden extreme headache had knocked me out cold, I would not believe the world I woke up to and the new ways of thinking I had unlocked. When I awoke, the first face I saw was that of Rainbow dash. I noticed the others around me after I completely opened my eyes. I would later find out that Fluttershy had told Rainbow dash to elevate my head. She did this to use gravity to redirect blood flow away from any possible internal bleeding contained in my head. I didn't know why I could understand them, and I still don't to this day. I just remember staring into the purple eyes of Rainbow dash, she stared at me for a second or two before telling everyone I was awake. They all backed away from me as I proceeded to try to stand. I remember getting to my feet and shaking my head side to side, trying to wake my self up a bit. I didn't stand for long though, my mussels were tired from trying to cling to a tree. I sat down and began examining my self for wounds, this came naturally to me because this was a habit that was originally forced by instinct. I was no longer instinctual by that point, it just seemed logical to do. I remember hearing someone (who I would later know as Applejack) saying "gosh, that's a weird lookin creature." I took offense to this, I wanted to show that I could understand them. The only thing I could think to do is growl at her from a distance. This immediately caught Rainbow dashes attention, she decided to joke around with Applejack. I believe she said "it's almost like he understood you AJ, isn't that right big guy?" My response was to nod my head up and down, some how it had been ingrained in my mind that this meant 'yes'. Rainbow was taken back by this and asked me another question, "wait, can you understand us?" Again I nodded my head. Fluttershy felt overjoyed and started to speak to me, "This is so amazing! Tell me what your thinking!" I cocked my head to one side curiously, she examined my head to find a reason why I was not speaking. After a few short moments she discovered I had no lips. Many theropod dinosaurs don't have lips like people do. Our lips are fused around the gums, giving the appearance that we just have gums. Our top teeth would stick out over the lower lips, just like you see in most recreations of a T. Rex. Fluttershy's face instantly grew disappointed. I noticed this and used my snout to brush against her, as a way of trying to comfort her over her crushed dreams. Over a few hours time they slowly established what I could and could not do. Rainbow decided to name me, it's a name I still go by to this day. She named me Big Al, or Al for short. The reason she named me what she did, as I would come to find out, was because she like the name Al. The reason my full name is Big Al is because I was the largest animal she had ever seen that close. Fluttershy was originally going to take me to live at the animal shelter, but she changed her mind because Rainbow named me. The first question she had for me as a pet was "Can you keep up with my car at highway speeds." I nodded yes even though I wasn't sure what highway speeds were. She jumped into her car and told me one simple sentence, "try and keep up!" She took off at a speed I would later call 60 miles per hour. I managed to keep my head in the view from the drivers side window, but only when I was sprinting as fast as I could. Rainbow slowed the car to a stop and put the car in park. I remember standing there, panting really hard through my mouth. Rainbow got out of her car and walked towards me. The sentence she spoke next I will always remember for as long as I live "All right, you can stay with me." She said the whole sentence with a smile on her face, she was also rubbing me on the top of the head. I remember feeling so happy as I though to my self, "I have a family now." Author's Note it won't get gory until chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// A walk through the woods //-------------------------------------------------------// A walk through the woods I decided to go hunting in the woods out side of town. I had walked a while when I stumbled on a deer. I was quick to jump on it and use my sharp claws to spill it's intestines. I violently shook the dead animal by the throat, it's neck clamped in my jaws. The animal tried to get up after I had shaken it, I pulled out an organ and the animal went limp. I consumed the deer over the course of an hour. I hadn't eaten since that morning so I was sure to eat as much as I could. I would eat the liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, what ever I found tasty. But as I was eating eight, male teens with pistols revealed themselves to me. They were aiming at me, the tallest one spoke first "Come here big guy, the zoo will pay us a fortune for you." They didn't realize that I could understand them, I bolted away. One of them shot at me two times but one of the bullets hit a tree near me. The other bullet hit me in the left leg, my lower leg to be exact. It hurt a lot, but I was determined not to be ripped away from another home. I ran to the high school where I met Rainbow dash out front. I stopped running and collapsed onto my left side. The pain in my left leg had become so bad, I couldn't stand on it. I sat there as Rainbow held me in her arms, she seemed concerned. The eight men walked up pointing there guns at my friends, telling them to hand me over. I heard police coming our way. Seven of the eight men ran back to there car, the eighth stood there and took aim at Rainbow's head. With every bit of strength I had left, I quickly grabbed the man by the arm. I was using my jaws to grab his arm, so he felt my sharp teeth sink in. I shook my head side to side, I heard the sound of tires screaming in the background. All I heard from the foreground was the man screaming in pain as I shook him violently with my jaws. I let go of him when the cops arrived, they loaded the man into a car and one of the two officers walked up to us. The man asked generic questions, like "what happened?" Or "was anyone else hurt?" His last question was "what is that thing?" The officer pointed at me. "He's my pet, he was shot in the lower leg by this guy and his group." Rainbow explained. "Well that explains why he's laying down. Why don't you and him hop into my car, we will get him to the animal hospital for treatment." The officer said. "Yes, thank you officer." Rainbow replied. She took her blue T-shirt off, revealing her white T-shirt with her logo on it. She wrapped me in the shirt, and carried me to the cop car. The ride was kind of scary, there were red and blue flashing lights out side and a loud siren. The whole time Rainbow dash held me in her lap, trying to comfort me. She knew I was scared and in pain, she didn't seem to mind the fact that I was bleeding in her. She just sat there and stroked the top of my head. When we arrived at the animal hospital, Rainbow opened the door to the cop car. She quickly thanked the man through the open passenger side window, and ran inside the entrance that said 'EMERGENCY'. The sign wasn't lying either, I started getting tunnel vision from loosing so much blood. The doctor told her to put me down on a stretcher. I was wheeled down a long hallway, I was being pushed pretty fast. The doctor pushed me into a room and put on Rubber gloves. He pressed cotton balls to my wound. He got out a needle and stuck it in right near the wound, the injection was to stop the bleeding. He gave me some gas to knock me out shortly afterwards, with in five minutes I was out cold. I awoke to see Rainbow sitting in a chair in the hospital room I was put in. She stayed in the hospital from the time I arrived, to the moment I woke up. She was seated right next to my bed, I noticed immediately I didn't quite fit on the bed. My tail was hanging off of the side of the bed. She looked right at me, noticing I was awake. She rubbed my head to say hi, a nurse walked in not to long after. "Miss Rainbow dash, visiting hours are over. I'm afraid your litteehh, big friend is going to have to stay the night." The nurse said. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow big guy." Rainbow said with a forced smile. She stopped half way out the door and turned the lights off. "Sleep tight bud." Rainbow said in a whisper. I closed my eyes and fell asleep with in moments. //-------------------------------------------------------// The portal //-------------------------------------------------------// The portal Big Al was walking to school with Rainbow dash, he usually paid attention to her as she talked with him. Today was one of the unusual days, Al had a big question on his mind that drew his attention away from Rainbow. He was pondering questions about the portal he came through. How could there be a portal leading to another universe if there wasn't a portal frame to keep it stable? People may not know it, but Al was a genius at mathematics. He ran complex calculations in his head, there were a few things that didn't add up. For one, the portal was a three demential sphere. Yet the portal appeared flat, like paper that always faces you. It would appear like that from any angle, so that must mean it's a sphere. But then why did it appear like a flat circle suspended in the air? In his deep thought, he didn't realize that they had arrived at the high school. Today was sort of like a field day for the school, so him and Rainbow dash would have plenty of time to do what every they wanted. They were walking towards the soccer field, when they were called by a familiar voice. The voice had a southern accent and didn't sound as high pitched as most of the other girls. "Hey you two! Wait for us!" "Hurry up you guys! We don't have all the time in the world!" Rainbow dash exclaimed. Al's mind locked onto one word out of her whole sentence, time. He thought for a second or two, trying to think of why it was so important to his issue. then it hit him like a freight train moving at one hundred miles per hour, perhaps his portal he came through was a time portal. In the pain he felt going through that portal, he forgot one thing that was present. The sound of static, like the kind a radio gives off when you hit a station that no one is using. But there was a one difference, the static sounded like it was made up of a bunch of different sound effects. Almost like all of history was screaming at you. But if it was a time portal why wasn't there a paradox? We're his remains never found, or did the universe adapt to the sudden change? He could try to find out, but that would require him to be in a human body. He thought for a second, he knew how to use a mouse and key board. Using the key board would be slow, he only had three fingers so he'd have to 'hunt and peck'. He gave Rainbow some hints through his body language, he was trying to tell her he would be in the library. "Huh? You what to go to the library alone? Well, ok. But be back when you finish!" Rainbow dash said. Al found his way to the library in a short amount of time. the real challenge was yet to come, Opening the door. The library doors needed to be pushed in wards, the doors tried to shut themselves due to a spring loaded door closer. Al pushed and pushed, he though he was as awesome as the hulk pushing a building. But in reality, he looked incredibly stupid. He could barely get the door to open a centimeter. lucky for him, the school teacher/school librarian miss cherilee noticed his struggle. She opened the door for him and kept it propped open so he could get out. Al went to work on making a blue print for a machine, he used a few different programs to get the blue print right. He worked diligently for a few hours until he had finally finished. He printed the paper and had miss cherilee bundle it together with a rubber band. He took it to a man who he knew would be able to make it, time turner. Some liked to call him doctor hooves as a kick name, but most called him by his official name. "How can I help you good sir?" Time turner asked. Al handed him the rolled up piece of paper. "A rapid mutation machine? My, why would you need that?" Time tuner questioned. Al looked at the diagram of the human body on the wall next to him. Time turner looked at what the raptor found so interesting, his eyes fell opon the diagram. "Ah, I see. You want to turn your body into a human one. Well, I'll start working on this right away. It should be ready in three to five days, I'll call Rainbow dash asking for you when it's done." Time turner said. The raptor befor him nodded and walked out the door. "What a lovely young fellow, I never thought I'd say that about a dangerous animal." Time turner said to him self. Al spent the rest of the day with Rainbow dash and his friends. He pulled rarity aside and handed her a piece of paper, it was asking for custom clothes. The list read: "a pair of caky jeans. a long sleeve, button up red plad shirt. A white T-shirt. A set of boxer briefs and a pair of socks. The final thing on the list was a pair of black boots." Beside each item was the dementions of the garment. Rarity looked at him after reading the list. "I'll get right on it darling" she said in a whispered tone. The next three days went by as normal, the girls go to class while he just wonders the halls. He got called to the main office in the middle of the day on the third day. Apparently it was from time turner, principle celestia handed him the phone. "It's for you." Celestia said. She held the phone to his ear hole. "Hello? Is anyone there?" The voice was time turners. He hissed into the phone, just so time turner would know who it was. "Ah, yes! Al, I'm calling to inform you that the machine is up and ready to go. You can come by and use it when ever you feel like. Hiss if you understand." Al hissed again. "Alright then, I will see you when you decide to come by and use it. Good bye! [beep]" time turner hung up the phone. Al stepped back from the phone. celestia knew that meant the call was over, she hung up the phone and waved to al as he walked out of the room. He needed to get to the library and type a message for the six girls. He had fourth five minutes to do this, that would be just enough time. He typed at his usual pace and had the paper printed as the bell rung. He walked right to the front doors and waited for Rainbow dash and the others. Rainbow dash spotted him and the six girls walked up to him. Al handed rainbow the peace of paper. She began to read the note. "Please read aloud. I want you all to come to time turners workshop at four o'clock pm, I have a surprise for you. Rarity, I need you to bring those clothes I asked you to tailor. I will meet you all there." Rainbow and the others looked at the paper and looked at al. They shrugged at one another. "We'll be there sugar cube." Applejack said. Al started walking towards time turners shop. The time was now four o'clock and everyone was at time turners workshop. They tried to ask al what this was about but time turner would chime in with 'it's a surprise'. Time turner finally revealed the machine, the six girls just starred at it as al walked inside. "Hey, what is that going do to?" Rainbow asked. "Don't worry, it's harmless." Time turner said while punching in variables on a touch pad. The machine started making a weird noise, Rainbow was getting a little uneasy but she held it together. After about a minute the machine made a ding and the doors opened. A thick white mist filled the inside of the machine. Time turner grabbed a towel and handed it to Al, who was still hidden from view. Suddenly a man with a towel around his waist stepped out. He had long, straight, brown hair that came down to his shoulders. His skin was a light shade of peach. He wasn't much taller that the girls were. His eyes were a vibrant shade of dark blue. "Ladies, I give you the new and improved, Al." Time turner said. Al coughed to clear his throat. "You can just call me John now." Al said. The girls sat there with their mouthes wide open. Al or.... Uh... John, walked up to the girls. "Rarity, uh, I'm gonna need those clothes you made." John said. Rarity picked up the stack of hand made clothes and handed it to John. "The men's room is right around the corner there." Time turner said. John walked to the bathroom with only a towel on as if it was the easiest thing he'd ever done. After a few minutes John walked out of the bathroom. The girls looked at him in his new attire and gave there own mark of approval. For Applejack that mark of approval was taking off her Stetson and giving a wolf whistle. Rainbows was a 'oh my gosh!'. Pinkie pie was just a cheerful 'wow!'. Rarity said 'it looks smashing on you darling.'. Fluttershy uttered a barley audible 'yay!'. Finally sunset shimmer gave her 'oh wow!'. John walked up to Rainbow dash with a smile. He stopped a foot away from her and cleared his throat. "Well rainbow dash, I can finally talk with you rather than just listening all the time." Rainbow dash grinned at him and put her hands on her hips. "I guess I have to help you enroll into the school, otherwise you can't be on school property during school hours." John blushed and put his hand on the back of his head. "Yeah, sorry. I kinda forgot about that. But going through school shouldn't be to hard for me, I know most of the material already. Let's say we all go out to dinner and talk about this change then, sound like a plan?" John said. Everyone nodded and they started walking out the door. Author's Note This is the last chapter without any adventure in it, they will start there weird adventures in the next chapter.
