Opal Reacts to Episode 100
Opal Gemstone, a red unicorn pony and the youngest Director, made himself some popcorn and drinks until the doorbell rang. He looked outside through a window, to find Twilight Sparkle, and hurriedly galloped to open the door.
"So, what's my star doing in my home," Opal greeted, "or it's just that my line seems to get a little boring, perhaps?"
"Nice to see you too Opal," Twilight replied back as she entered his house and her eyes turned wide. "You renovated."
"Technically yes, physically no." Twilight looked at Opal with an eyebrow raised. "I'm promoted from being the Multiverse Checker to Director."
"Does that mean-" Twilight was cut away by the door suddenly closing on its own. "You didn't use your magic."
"I have nanobots," Opal replied hesitantly before heading towards the kitchen to bring popcorn to the living room. "And let me guess, you want to watch the latest episode." Twilight nodded.
"And you are aware that you're pulling yourself more and more away from our home universe by that," Opal asked, "right?" She nodded once more. "Luckily, sir Rowan gave us permission."
"Why did you ask permission?" Twilight asked.
Opal smirked. "100th episode."
"No, way."
"Yes way," Opal threw back, "now come on! It's about to start!"
Twilight wondered what her husband has to offer. Time to start watching and eating popcorn, she guessed. Their almost-perfect time was interrupted the television showed a familiar man's face which then switched directly into the show episode.
Opal couldn't think but help about baking muffins all of a sudden. He ignored it and headed towards Twilight and watched along.
Opal looked at Twilight who just stared at the screen. He began to pull out a long list and began to silently check a few checkboxes. Twilight looked at his list and took a glance.
"Lists of MLP Fanon and Referenced Used in Episode 100? Opal," said Twilight, "are you watching almost everything you wrote in that?"
"Uh..." Opal looked around. "Yes. Yes I did."
"Even the crazy G3?" Twilight asked, pointed to a striked-off entry in the list.
"Yeah. I don't know how Director placed it on MY list of all things." Opal looked at the checked entries. "Doctor Who, Back to the Future, that one movie, Derpy Hooves the mailmare, secret agent Sweetie Drops, Sparkler, crazy sisterly moment with Celestia and Luna, OctaScratch as roommates (it's Octavia and Vinyl Scratch, I mean), Lyra and BonBon, and... Steven Magnet."
Opal summoned a slice of pizza and looked at Twilight. "Everything's slightly unoriginal now."
"Well, you are original for me," Twilight replied.
"Really?" asked Opal.
"Well," said Twilight, "in Altaris National Library in the Fanfiction Archives section I haven't seen a fanfic about a pony being the ruler of the multiverse, a pony except for Pinkie who breaks the 4th wall-"
"That's common nowadays," Opal interrupted.
"-oh. I guess here isn't much originality nowadays. Eh, my ideas for example," Twilight finished.
Opal decided to slightly change the theme of the conversation. "I think Pinkie's calling." They looked at the television to see Pinkie knocking to it.
"Hey Twilight!" shouted Pinkie, "let me in!"
The two watchers looked at each other before denying the invitation.
"Aw..." Pinkie pouted.
"You can just jump across here, you know," Twilight countered back.
Pinkie suddenly smiled. "I can!?"
Opal decided to pull Pinkie out and replay the episode, while facing a camera pointed towards them. He smiled, combed his mane, looked at the two mares, and began to talk.
"Hello, I am Opal Gemstone, you might know me from Rowan Ex's first fanfiction on FIMFiction, Against The Crowd: Opal Gemstone. I am currently hosting... Twilight and Pinkie. The rationalist and the randomare. No offense."
"None taken!" Pinkie replied back. "Wow, Octavia sounds cool!"
"That was my line! Anyways, I'm a pony, and I am a Director. That's also more commonly known as a Fourth Wall Breaker." Opal looked at Pinkie Pie. "Well, Fourth Wall Breakers of Director Mark. Also known as Rowan Ex." Opal shook his head. "Alright, I'm going in circles."
"When I first saw the promo videos for Episode 100, I was like, 'Oh, wow.' Then, I was actually impressed by that Cello Dubstep sound. So when the episodes came out, being the spoilers all Directors are, we... um... read the others comments about it. Moving on!"
"At first, I- we- I- -okay, I'm using I for the Directors- was slightly not sure of the other parts since I didn't watch the other episodes. Only read transcripts. Which meant more spoilers. And only a few knowledge about the episode. So, I was actually surprised about the overall episode."
"My favorite part was at the wedding, especially the changeling part, and that's something less expected. Speaking of expected, I- we- I totally didn't expect Bon Bon to be a secret agent. Secret Agent Sweetie Drops was her real name, I think? The look on Lyra's face though."
"The next thing I liked was the part with Octavia and Vinyl. The cello-dubstep/cellostep was cool! Couldn't help but notice what the others meant by jumping the shark. Well... that was an expression made literal. The next is the changeling. That few seconds with the changeling."
"Look, I know that Chrysalis survives through comics and fanfiction. But seeing it as a homage to the first wedding episode? Well..." Opal looked at the screen and to the mares who were muttering surprised expressions especially when the changeling part came. "Yup. Surprised."
Opal paused for a moment before an idea passed over his head which coincided with Twilight and Pinkie jumping in shock as a changeling arrived. Opal facepalmed as the changeling disguised as a light green pony. He then buzzed his way upstairs.
"Okay..." The television suddenly cracked and turned into a 32-inch flat screen. "Great, in front of my friends, Rowan? Why do you so?"
A man's face appeared on the screen. "Sorry, it's just been a random day." His eye twitched after he noticed Twilight and Pinkie. "Happy 100 episodes for the Friendship is Magic crew."
"Thanks~" Pinkie replied.
"Hey, thank the other 'writers' too, you know," Twilight shot back, "without their fanon, eh, here's not gonna be that episode not centered on us six!"
As Pinkie Pie and Twilight went away to their houses, Opal faced the camera and picked it up. He moved it closer towards a small pack of books, and faced it into himself.
"Okay," said Opal, "there's gonna be a new fanfic in the Altaris National Library or in the Librarian's stash... well, maybe not today. Rowan got Conversion Bureau story, Jane got her Xavier Trilogy, and Mr. Crafters got his own book series. I wonder if I should try making a Five Score fanfiction...
"And so, under direction of Director, I now officially end this piece with a slice of pizza and a pack of muffins. Goodbye."
And then they say 4th wall breakers are weird.
