Prologue: Snake on a Train

Spike was pretty annoyed about how his day was going. First he RUNS to Void's appartment to search for him. And when he doesn't find him, he waddles back to find Twilight, wherever the buck she went. Next he nearly gets trampled by some raging red Pegasus, who was vigorously set on violently murdering Big Macintosh. And finally, this, being held captive by snakes made out of magic.

"Best day ever." he grumbled to himself

He looked at his captors. Twilight was circling around Spike, while the other six ponies lazily sat in the library. Void was balancing on the wooden statue that sat on the table. Fluttershy was admiring Owlowiscious. The Cutie Mark Crusaders were in the plant cages that they had entered in. The other possessed ponies were admiring the interrogation techniques of their leader, Twilight. Well it actually wasn't Twilight, but a spirit controlling her body. Specifically, the spirit of Ophiuchus, the astrological symbol of The Snake.

"Because you're a fellow reptilian, I'm going easy on you." said Ophiuchus from Twilight's body, "But you need to comply with my demands!"

"And what might, urgh, that be?" he said as the magical snakes shifted causing his small body to be squeezed unpleasantly.

"Just take a note, Spike." said the spirit, using Twilight's actual voice rather than the slurred reptilian one.

He could do nothing but accept. But he had one last card up his sleeve.

Going back to the persona he used when he was trying to frame Owlowiscious, he slyly said, "Fine, but I'll do it on one  condition."

The snakes tightened as Ophiuchus jumped up and said, "Why should I agree to anything you want, after all you are the hostage!"

The tightening caused Spike to grimace and spew a fireball into the Snake's face. She had an angry twitch in her eye.

"Because I hold, THE SACRED FLAME!!!" he said dramatically. He envisioned a wicked bolt of lightning behind him.

"What are his majesty's requests." she said in impatient annoyance.

He looked over at the pony possessed by Virgo and said, "I want a hot flank show from her!"

"Pwftwahahahahahahahahaha!!!" chortled Taurus

Virgo blushed and said, "Oh dear, I would but, um...once a Maiden, always a Maiden, ya know?"

"Buck."

"Just write the letter!!" screamed Ophiuchus

"Okay okay! Yeesh..."

The Snake cleared her throat and said,

"Dear Princess Celestia,

I would like to request a stay in Canterlot for a few days. To further understand the magic of friendship, I'm taking a trip to my hometown with my friends to see if it will strengthen our bonds.

Your Faithful Student,

Twilight Sparkle"

Spike wrote the the letter down and then set the message aflame with his dragon fire.

"And now we wait for a response." said Ophiuchus

After a minute or two of awkward silence, Spike got the familiar feeling in his stomach. Feeling the wispy embers of the magic paper flow up his esophagus was the equivilant of shoving a manticore up your tear duct. As the paper reassembled in midair, Spike was released from the grasp of the magic snakes. The other ponies that were possessed surrounded him and bound him while Ophiuchus read the letter.

"Looks like we have a special invite to Canterlot from the Princess herself. Don't want to leave her hanging, do we?"

And with that she trotted out the door, towards the train station.

With the Cutie Mark Crusaders still in cages and the possessed ponies surrounding him all Spike could think was, "Oh. Buck."
