A lone alligator sits in a room, staring out the window. It's a beautiful day in Ponyville, as he watches events unfold before him, high up from the windowsill. He blinks, left eye first and then right eye, about a millisecond later, as he begins to gather his thoughts.
"What is life? Is it nothing more than just learning the magic of friendship? Where does life go on after that? Am I just destined to stay a gator while I watch everything unfold? I could have done so many things, but I find that I myself am not able to do so. Most importantly, why am I here? I can't ever bring myself to measure the baking powder or drizzle some gnosh or beat some egg whites for the meringue, like I was told to do the other day. The apple of reality is hard to bite down, as I do not have teeth, so I can't really sink my teeth into it. Why was I put on this Earth where I am surrounded by those who love, learn, and cherish each other's company oh so much? Why am I here? Just...why?"
The door opens, "Gummy! I'm home!" Pinkie Pie exclaims as she rushes over and picks up her pet, wrapping him into a big hug. "I had an amazing day! I can't wait to tell you all about it! Oh, but I wanna hear all about your day first! Lemme just get some cookies for us!" She leans forward and plants a big kiss on his cheek, before exiting the room.
"Oh...that's why..." Gummy thinks, as he smiles to himself.
