The Tale of the Smoking NCR Ranger Pony
Chapter one: New orders and smoky rumors
Load Full StoryBulls-eye awoke when he heard knocking on his tent door before it burst open and a courier entered the tent. He was out of breath and sweating profoundly, his grey fur clung to him tightly as his clothes were drenched and clinging to him, making his muscles noticeable as he stopped to catch his breath before he reached into his bag and pulled out a envelope that was soggy.
"M-message for a stallion named Bulls-eye." He said once he stopped panting and looked around the tent to see that only him and another stallion were in it.
"Hand it over." Bulls-eye said as he eyed the courier, noticing that he had a standard weathered 10mm in his holster.
"Here you go, and this package was delivered in three days using the Mojave Express!" The Courier said before he disappeared back out the door nearly as quickly as he had come.
Bulls-eye opened the damp envelope carefully and took out the letter, realizing that he couldn't read it that well, he walked over to a lantern that was on a make-shift table and sat down to read it.
'Dear Bulls-eye) Code: Black
We have a new target for you that is of significant importance, we need you to take out the target A.S.A.P. The target is one of the legions right hand generals that is travelling to The Great Divide, we need you to travel there and intercept the target. You may use any means necessary to eliminate them if you accept this.
However, if you accept this, you will be doing your country and nation a favor and turning the table to their advantage. This will be suicidal maybe even impossible, but we believe that sending a stallion of your skills will significantly increase our odds of success, no-one else will know what you are doing. Burn this message after reading.'
Bulls-eye opened the lanterns hatch and dropped the letter into it, before he got up and walked over to his footlocker and knelt down before it and began to turn the combination to open the lock, hearing the three clicks before he opened it and pulled out his ranger armor and his signature .44 revolver and his bolt action K98 with x32 scope.
He picked up his helmet and pressed the button on the right temple and sighed as he was relieved to see the dull blue glow come to life in the eye pieces. He quickly began to get dressed before he stopped and thought about it.
'Do I really want to go another mission? Am I fighting for the right side?' He asked himself as paused for a few seconds before he put his helmet on and pressed the button so he could see everything more clearly at night.
He walked out of the tent and noticed the darker shaded clouds rolling in, meaning that acid rain was gonna start pouring down in a few days. He pulled out a map and saw that the great divide was a weeks travel to get too, and he knew he had to hurry up and get it done. He saw that there was several encampments along the way that he could stop to get some supplies and rest. He sighed as he began to walk in the direction of the first town that would be his stop.
After the ranger had walked for several hours he noticed that the sunrise was beginning to come up. He stopped for a moment to admire the dull rays.
