I'll never understand what I did wrong
Is there a reason why?
Never figure it out, just a mystery
I must get out, yes I must try
Will there be hope? (No)
Will there be peace? (No)
I need to know
To be released
From this nightmare I'm living
Please help, somepony
I need a hero
To take my sorrows away
I need a hero
To show me light again, someday
I need a hero
To tell me everything will be all right
I need a hero
Can you get me one tonight?
I feel trapped, alone in this tower
Of darkness, of pain
Can't get on my forelegs anymore
I need to see sunlight again
Will there be hope? (No)
Will there be peace? (No)
I need to know
To be released
From this nightmare I'm living
Please help, somepony
I need a hero
To take my sorrows away
I need a hero
To show me light again, someday
I need a hero
To tell me everything will be alright
I need a hero
Can you get me one tonight?
I need a hero
Can you get me one tonight....
The room was pitch black. Not a light shone through the darkness. Only a young filly's voice could be heard. The ponies who were imprisoned in such a room enjoyed her lovely singing, even if it were something sad. They understood. Singing was immediately banned from the place after ponies everywhere broke out in full length musicals. She would sing quietly to herself as others gathered around her to hear her soothing voice. She would never sing loudly, or she would receive "treatment" for her bad behavior.
In order for you to understand my story, you must know why I'm here.
In the year of 2507, civilization in Equestria crumbled into the depths of Saddle Arabia. The war was horrible. Ponies everywhere died from bombings and shootings. Cities were destroyed. And the Arabians controlled the country. Our princesses tried their best to defeat the troops that invaded our sweet colony, but with ponies and guards dead, they barely made it into the living standards of our society today. We were the lucky ones. Ponies from Saddle Arabia captured ponies in our lands to keep prisoner until further notice. Our poor princesses were forced to make everything right in Equestria, but they couldn't do it alone. Each year, they had fallen weaker and weaker trying to rebuild our civilization. But one fateful day, our lovely Princess Celestia couldn't take it anymore. She decided to leave it be until they regained energy. Celestia and the others stayed in the Canterlot castle to gain sleep, but they were never seen again.
Today, about 10 years later, we are still held hostage and are praying for someone to rescue us from bondage. I was born in the stables. My mom and dad met as prisoners. They were alone in one of the stables, and instantly fell in love with each other. But because I was born, they were immediately separated from one another, me with my now sick mother. I have never seen my father, but my mother always told me that he was still here, in another stable, and one day, I will see him again. Others in the stable told me they executed him for doing such a thing with my mother.
My first "treatment" came when I was singing. Three years of age I presume. One of the guards heard me and trotted to our stable. He opened the door and tried to fetch me out. My mother held on to me tight, saying I didn't deserve what was to become of me. Another guard came in as the other strangers stood back on the gray walls surrounding us. The other guard continuously whipped my mother. I could feel the pain she was in. But she kept me in her forelegs, taking the pain like a stallion. I could see the tears in her eyes. She yelled in force of excruciating pain from her back. The guard finally got hold on me and both left my mother, her back bleeding red blood. I still feel the scars every time I touch her.
The guard threw me in the middle of the hallway. Everypony looked out from the windows to see a young filly crying from the pain of the fall. Some cried themselves. I could hear someone say 'that poor filly' or 'not the baby!' The guard squatted down and pulled me up from the skin. He yelled at me ferociously as tears welled up in my eyes. The screaming was punishment enough. But not to them. He slid me across the cold white-tiled floor as he walked towards me. He pulled my yellow-golden mane with his teeth. I could feel hairs leaving my head. I screamed as the other guard whipped me from behind, I balled my eyes out, moving every direction I could. But the more I moved, the more the pain came to me. After the most horrifying minutes of my life ended, the guard let my mane go and carried me back to the stable, little blood draining from my plot. They threw me back into the stable, and my mom caught me. I softly cried in her forelegs, and I could feel her tears wetting my mane. I learned to only sing to myself quietly. Although, it wouldn't be my last time acting up.
Nine years I was born a prisoner here. And I feel as if it's my time to see the sunlight. Mother would always tell me stories about the princesses. I would love to see them. I would love to see the world, and not the same ponies everyday, as much as I liked them. I feel that there is a new world to discover. My mom's descriptions aren't enough. I need to get out of here. To free myself from the clutches of the Arabians.
I will reclaim my freedom.
