Personality
He has a certain contempt for Twilight's group of friends; he refers to them constantly with derisive nicknames such as "the nerd herd", "the pony dweeb patrol", or "the geek pony squad". Plus, he is fairly condescending and scathing to everypony, with the exception of foals and colts. He has a sense of superiority and a sense of arrogance, making it extremely difficult to anypony to earn his respect. He does not bow to anypony, even Celestia. but will show respect to princess Luna.
Skills
His spiky-quilled tail and it's nightmare poison were the reasons he was placed in Tartarus. Fanning it like a peacock tail, the quilled fur could shoot out these quills at an enemy. The quills secrete a poison that causes nightmares, hallucination, and insomnia. Luckly, he can control his tail's poison to a degree.
He is also good at hoof-to-hoof combat.
Relationships
He keeps to himself. he has no time to make friends with other ponies, with the exception of foals and colts. He stays in the Everfree Forest and has made a home for himself among the other creatures who live there. Deep down, he likes Princess Luna, but is shy to ask her out or be his friend.

History
Desmond was once a normal earth pony stallion from Baltimare.
But along the way he turned into a 'dark pony' and became Darkhooves.
He dislikes ponies who act in a manner that disturbs others(singing ponies and partying ponies who do stupid things)
He also dislikes high-society ponies who think earth ponies are 'commoners'
This also led him to dishoner Princess Celestia's great reverence and awe due to her position.
He does not bow to anypony, even to her and openly insulted the ponies who bow to her.
He's scathing to everypony who bows to Celestia, with the exception of foals and colts.
Despite his personality, he is devoted and protective towards small foals and colts who are younger then him.
Let's just say he's difficult pony to get close to.
The source of his poison tail quills come from a potion that he tried to create himself to get back at the ponies who hurt him the most. The dangerous experiment that transformed Desmond into Darkhooves placed a deliberate overdose of powder and nightmare based toxins into his tail that makes him deadly while also allowing him to boost his immunity to all poisons, viruses, bacteria, and magic. This immunity also includes poison joke plants
His tail acts as a weapon, or defensive/grabbing appendage now that its longer. The tail itself can fan-out like a peacock's and can keep other ponies away when he wants to assert himself.
Darkhooves also enjoys taunting ponies with riddles. He enjoys a riddle or two, but always made sure to cheat so that he would win. Nopony else had been able to solve one as of yet.
He also finds the ponies and their fear of the Everfree forest laughable because its just not natural to how ponyvill and Equestria work. Making his home in a cave over the forest, Darkhooves enjoys the quiet and solitude.
He thinks the forest is natural and works just fine and thinks other ponies who fear it are pathetic and fools for not understanding the forest better.
