Date soared through the sky, making his way to canterlot. He was a greyish-blue Pegasus with a black mane and tail. He was in a hurry to warn the princesses of the approaching Darkness. Date witnessed a team of archeologists accidentally break the seal, releasing it from its imprisonment. The castle was getting closer and closer when a member of the Royal Guard appeared, blocking his path.
“Halt.” he ordered.
“Hey, move it! I have to see the princesses now!”
“The princesses are very busy. What is your business with them?”
Just when Date was going to explain, another Royal Guard came up to them.
“What’s the problem?” asked the first guard.
“It’s the Princesses.” said the second. “They’re missing!”
“Missing?!” asked the first guard. “Sound the alarm! We need to find them!”
“SHIT!” yelled Date, who then flew off trying to think of an idea for stopping the oncoming darkness. Date then landed on a cloud so he could think properly. OK the princesses are missing. That’s wonderful. Lets see I know the Elements! So Date went off to the vault where the Elements of Harmony, the items that defeated Nightmare Moon and Discord, were kept. Royal Guards were running around trying to find anything on the whereabouts of the Royal Sisters. Everywhere one could look they could feel the chaos in the air. When he finally got to the building with the vault there a member of the Royal Guard standing in front of it. However this one was different from the other members of the Guard. This one was a unicorn white fur, a mane streaked with different shades of blue. Huh that guy's armor is different. Hey wait a sec that’s the Captain of the Royal Guard. What was his name again?
“Hey what do you think you’re doing?” ask the Guard Captain
“Please you need to let me into the vault. I know who took the Princesses and we need the Elements to him!” shouted Date.
“Wait you know who took the Princesses?” asked the Guard Captain.
“ Yes but there’s no time to explain I need to get to the Elements. You should probably send some of your troops to go get the Bearers they may be in danger.”
“Oh no Twiley! Okay I’ll send one of the squads to Ponyville to get them. You seem like somepony I can trust I’ll come with you, you’ll need me to open the door.
“Thank you um what’s your name? I know I should know your name I mean you are the Captain of the Royal Guard.” asked Date
“That’s alright my name is Shining Armor” answered well Shining Armor
“Shining Armor... that’s a really good name for you” Date replied. Shining chuckled at this.
“Yeah that’s not the first time someone said that um....”
“My name’s Date and we should probably get going now”
“You’re right,” Shining armor looked over another member of the Guard who was flying by, “I want you and the rest of your squad to bring the Elements bearers here to Canterlot”
“Yes Sir,” responded the nameless Guard member, who flew off to complete his orders. Shining armor looked back at Date.
“Come on lets go,” and with that both ran off to the vault. When they got to the door for the room that contained the Elements Shining went up to the door and inserted his horn into the hole in the middle of the door and afterwards the it blowed with magic and then opened. Date quickly trotted up the chest which held the elements. He opened the chest and found, much to his horror, that it was empty. Date fell over on his haunches shocked by this turn of events.
“NO NO NO NO NO! This is just perfect. What am I going to do now? Now that he’s back... no I don’t even want to think about DAMN you brain why do have to make me think about!”
“Having problems?” said a voice from behind interrupting Date’s little... episode. Date then turned around to see a shadow.
“It’s you” Date responded in a voice filled with venom. “What the Hell are you doing here?”
"I just to check up on you I mean you do remember that little deal we made all those years ago," replied the Shadow.
"Yeah it was nice and all until I learned it was all bullshit!" yelled Date.
"What ever do you mean by that, Date Swordsmane?" The Shadow asked in a mocking tone
"Date Swordsmane?" asked a voice from the doorway. Date looked backed to see that Shining Armor was still there listening in on what the two where saying. "As in the Legendary hero from The Great Griffon War?" This got the attention of the Shadow who Date had talking to.
"Oh it appears we have an eavesdropper in the room. I allow me to introduce myself I am The Darkness, the source of evil in this world. The Windigoes that was me as was Nightmare, Discord," The Darkness grumbles, "Discord that fool did not end up like I wanted. Too much play time and not enough death. Fitting that he's now trapped with a stupid expression of fear on his forever," this brought a evil chuckle to The Darkness, "Oh and may have given a certain Changeling Queen the idea of taking over a certain nation of ponies." The Darkness gave the unicorn a menacing smile.
"Are you the one who took the Elements and The Princesses?" asked Armor.
"Why yes I am," replied The Darkness "Oh and the Element bearers too." Upon hearing this the expression on Shining Armor's face grew darker.
"If you did anything to Twiley..."
"And What if I already had. Oh her sweet sweet cries of torment" The Smile on The Darkness's face grew even more menacing. The anger that Shining felt upon hearing this could not be contain. The unicorn shot a bolt of magic at The Darkness. Upon impact the bolt caused The Darkness to jolt back a little causing Shining to smile. That was short lived as The Darkness let out a dark chuckle.
"Wow that tickled now tell me Shining Armor did you ever think you could defeat me and save Equestria?" The Darkness asked in a mocking tone, "When you can't even save yourself." The Darkness pointed his arm at Shining Armor and sent a torrent of energy at the unicorn with the intent to kill. Fearful Shining closed his yes but right before the energy could reach Shining he felt something grab on to him and then nothing. After a few seconds he opened his eyes to see that he was no longer in the vault but in a field.
"What?! How did?" ask the confused stallion who turned to see Date standing there.
"I 'ported you here" Date answered casually.
"'ported? Wait teleported but how your a pegasus and wait he said your name's Date Swordsmane but the only pony with that name lived a thousand years ago. Now That... monster took my sister so I'm going to need some answers?" Date thought for a second.
"Okay I'll tell you everything about me and how I know The Darkness. That work for you?" replied the pegasus
"Yes"
"Okay now you better sit down because this is going to be a long story"
