New Member of the Guard

Princess Luna's day started out like any other. She got up, put on her royal jewelry and went down to the dining room to have breakfast with her older sister, Princess Celestia. As she trotted happily toward the dining room, her personal guard fell in line behind her. She didn't like being followed around the whole day, from the time Celestia rose the sun until she, herself rose the moon, but there had been an evil presence flowing around the kingdom of Equestria and one could never be too careful. Nearing the dining room, Luna could tell that her sister had not arrived yet and slowed to a walk, stopping a few feet from the door.

"Is something wrong your highness?" One of the royal guard walked up beside Luna and bowed. He was young but was very lean and muscular. His coat was a deep midnight blue, his mane and tail a lighter royal blue with streaks of silver.

"I'm sorry to stop you in the middle of an important thought," the stallion said as he noticed the look of concentration on his princess's face, "but, you have not entered the dining room and ..." He stopped mid-sentence. Princess Luna was looking at him with a confused look upon her face.

"Do I know you?" The Princess asked suddenly. The other guards behind them chuckled.

"I... uhh... am.. uhh..." The stallion stammered, not knowing how to answer the question his princess asked. One of the older guards stepped up and placed a hoof upon the stallion's shoulder.

"Your Highness, sorry for the late introduction but this is the newest member of your personal guard. He was top of his class at cadet school, and was placed here personally by the captain of the royal guard. He will not disappoint, I assure you." He stops and looks at the stallion who has a slight blush, "Tell the Princess your name, silly colt."

"Oh, right." Finally the stallion come back to his senses, and tells Princess Luna his name, " I am Midnight Arrow. Pleased to officially meet you, your Highness."

"Well, is this a party I see, going on outside the dining room?" Princess Celestia glides in, as graceful as ever.

"Good morning, dear sister. And, no this is not  a I was just being introduced to the newest member of my guard, Midnight Arrow." Luna answers Celestia.

"Ah, well if you have finished then I believe our breakfast is getting cold. Shall we head in, Luna?"

Luna blushes out of embarrassment, 'A princess should not be standing around when her food is ready.' She thinks to herself.

"Yes, we should eat. We have a long day of royal duties to attend to and do not have time to dilly-dally." Luna tells her sister.

The two princesses head into the dining room where two plates of warm, fresh porridge sit.
